~Alistair’s POV~
No matter how tired Alex is, no matter what ti it is, if I want sothing, he’ll do it for . That’s why I love my man so much, I wouldn’t trade him for anything in this world. He is my joy, my life, and everything I’ve ever dread of. He was my first, and he’s the best man for , just as I am his first, and the only one for him.
After a while, we finally pulled ourselves away from the tangled sheets. Alex took my hand, helping up, and we headed downstairs to the kitchen.
The house was quiet, but it didn’t feel empty anymore. Alex moved around with ease despite how tired he was. He poured a glass of chilled juice, not too sweet, just the way I like it, and set it on the kitchen island.
I sat there, sipping slowly, watching him move around the kitchen.
He prepared a light al for , and when he was done, he served it. I asked him to join . He said he wasn’t hungry, but in the end, he still sat down and had a few bites with .
As we ate, the mood beca a little quieter, more thoughtful.
"Alis," Alex said, as he looked at across the table. "I want to tell you how things were while you were gone. It wasn’t just the loneliness... it was how people saw it. So of them thought they could just step in and replace you."
I paused, my glass halfway to my lips. "Who are they?"
"I an... whenever I went to work or stepped out for business, people talked," he said. "So assud we weren’t together anymore. There were... temptations. People trying to get close, like they could take your place."
I felt a flash of possessiveness. "Did anyone... catch your eye? Was there soone else who actually got your attention?"
"No, babe," Alex said firmly, reaching across the table to hold my hand. "That’s not what I’m saying. No one caught my attention. You’re the only one I see, and the only one I love. I’m just telling you what I had to deal with."
He paused, a faint, curious smile on his lips.
"What about you?" he asked. "Did anyone approach you while I wasn’t around?"
I looked away, swirling the juice in my glass. "I don’t want to talk about it, Alex. If we start talking about that, we’re going to end up fighting, and I don’t want to ruin this night."
"I want to talk about it anyway," he insisted, his protective streak flaring up. "Let’s just be honest."
I stood my ground, knowing exactly how jealous Alex could get. I didn’t want a "contentious situation" to boil over right after we had finally found peace. After a mont of stubborn silence, we just ended up staring at each other, the tension lting back into affection.
Even though it was already past midnight, neither of us wanted the night to end. We weren’t ready to go to sleep yet.
"Let’s watch a movie," I suggested. "What do you think?"
"Okay," Alex agreed. We grabbed so snacks and moved to the living room, settling into the large, plush sofa.
"You know," I teased, resting my head on his shoulder as the movie started, "we could watch this in the bedroom."
"I know," Alex murmured, pulling the blanket over us. "But if we go upstairs now, we won’t end up watching the movie."
"What are we going to do then?" I asked, a playful tilt to my head.
Alex smiled. "You know how much you love my dick inside you... And I just want to sit here and enjoy this with you for a while."
"Don’t you like the fact that I like it?" I teased, leaning into him.
"I like the fact that it makes you scream," he whispered, his voice dropping to a low seduction. "And that it sotis makes you cry, yet you still ask for more."
"I ask for more because I enjoy it," I said softly. "That’s why I don’t want you to stop."
Alex smiled, his voice low.
"And I love it when you ask for more."
I leaned up and kissed him deeply. "That’s why you’re my husband... You know better than anyone."
We talked through the movie, sharing quiet monts and laughing at things only we understood. I felt relaxed, just enjoying being with him.
After a while, my eyes started to feel heavy, the long day finally catching up with .
"Let’s go up, baby," Alex murmured, seeing drift off.
We stood up, holding each other, and walked upstairs side by side.
We climbed into our bed, the familiar scent of our pillows welcoming us. I moved closer to him, tucking myself into the curve of his body, and he pulled into a tight, protective cuddle. Wrapped in his arms, I finally closed my eyes, falling into a deep, peaceful sleep for the first ti in a month.
The next morning, I woke up first, still wrapped in Alex’s arms. I gently stirred him awake, and after a soft good morning, he ntioned he had a lot of work waiting at the office. I had my own responsibilities too, so we got up, showered, dressed quickly, and went downstairs where breakfast was already waiting.
We had coffee and toast together, slipping back into our usual rhythm. When we were done, Alex walked out to the car. He told the driver to drop off at my workplace first and promised he’d co back in the evening to pick up.
Throughout the day, our phones didn’t stop buzzing. Every few hours, there was a text from him: Did you eat lunch? How is the day going? I miss you. It was a constant, sweet tether that made the hours fly by.
When it was ti to leave, the driver was already waiting outside. Alex stood beside the car in his suit, looking sharp and expensive.
We stopped at a store on the way ho and picked up a few things we needed. When we got back, we had a quiet dinner together. We had just gone upstairs to our room, ready to rest, when Alex’s phone began to vibrate.
It was his mother.
Alex sighed and glanced at before answering, putting the call on speaker so I could hear.
"I’ve been calling you since morning," his mother said. "Why haven’t you been picking up?"
"Mom? I’m sorry, I’ve been busy all day. I didn’t see your call."
"It’s fine, Alex," she said. "I sent you so important ssages. Check them and tell what you think."
"Okay, Mom. I’ll read it and get back to you shortly," Alex said.
"Alright, Alex. I’ll wait for your reply," she responded.
As soon as the call ended, Alex opened the ssages she had sent. We sat side by side on the edge of the bed, going through them together.
His father was often abroad handling business, which ant his mother spent most of her ti alone in that big house.
Her suggestion was simple, but heavy.
She wanted us to move in with her after the wedding... or at least get a house nearby. She didn’t want us living so far away anymore. She wanted us close.
Alex looked at , his brows slightly furrowed. "What do you think?"
I didn’t hesitate.
"Alex... no," I said firmly. "There’s no way I’m living under the sa roof as your mother ever."
Alex nodded right away.
"I know," he said quietly. "And I don’t want us going through all that again either. But if we tell her no now... it might cause problems before the wedding even happens."
We sat in silence for a mont, thinking. We already had our own plan, to leave after the wedding and start fresh sowhere far from everyone.
"We should tell her what she wants to hear," I said quietly. "We’ll tell her it’s a wonderful suggestion, that after the wedding, we’ll move in with her and maybe split our ti between here and there. That way, she stays happy and focused on the wedding."
I looked at Alex.
"That’s the only way... don’t you agree?"
Alex understood. It made sense.
By agreeing for now, we could keep the peace until we were ready to make our move.
So we called her back together and told her what she wanted to hear, painting a picture of a future where we would stay close to her.
She sounded pleased.
"I’ve already spoken with Alis’s mother," she said. "We’ve agreed on a date. I’ll start preparing the invitations, and once they’re ready, I’ll send so to her. I’ll also send copies to both of you so you can share them with your friends."
Alex and I didn’t argue.
We just let her have her way.
"Okay, Mom," we said.
We exchanged a few more words before ending the call.
As soon as we hung up, Alex pulled into a hug, a happy smile on his face.
We both understood what this ant.
Once the wedding was over... we were leaving.
And the only ti she would see us again would be during brief visits.
For now, this was the easiest way to protect what we were building together.
