"Quiet, please."

The National Elder looked around and silenced the discussion among the attendees.

The eting room beca instantly quiet, and pairs of eyes all turned towards the National Elder sitting on the arhat bed.

His face was expressionless, showing neither happiness nor anger, and his tone a mont ago revealed nothing as well.

As an absolutely influential figure, it had almost beco their instinct to not let their emotions show.

The silence lasted for about a minute, just when they were about to speak out of impatience, the National Elder’s voice calmly rose again.

"I know what you’re all thinking."

"You think Lin Mo is insignificant, that today’s eting is completely unnecessary, and even believe that I called this eting because too many people are paying attention to Lin Mo."

"If you have such thoughts, then let tell you now, no matter how much attention Lin Mo gets, it’s a trivial matter."

"History has proven ti and again that public opinion can be manipulated, and the public’s enthusiasm isn’t as enduring as we imagine."

"Even if the incident with Lin Mo becos big news, it doesn’t an it can’t be suppressed."

After hearing the National Elder’s words, so nodded eagerly, while others, although very respectful on the surface, did not take his words to heart.

They held high positions and power, but after all, they were a group of old n set in their ways, with very serious prejudices.

This could be seen from the developnt of Grand Xia.

Although these were all insignificant matters, careful observation could still reveal so signs.

Of course, the National Elder knew what his subordinates were thinking, and he was also clear that it was impossible to completely correct their way of thinking.

The best approach to deal with such attitudes was to wait for them to retire gradually and then bring in a group of younger people, allowing the fresh energy to mitigate the stodgy atmosphere of the ageing institution.

"I can tell you clearly that Lin Mo may harbor secrets beyond your imagination."

The National Elder picked up his cup and took a sip, then continued, "You may not have thought of this, and it’s more likely that you haven’t thought about it at all."

"But that’s not important. What I want to tell you is, as long as what Lin Mo requests is feasible, we must fulfill his conditions, whatever they may be."

"Even if there are no conditions, we create them and et them."

"Do you understand what I’m saying?"

The crowd nodded repeatedly, and although they didn’t dare to say anything, they were all full of surprise inside.

It had been so many years, and they had never seen the National Elder take such an interest in a person, nor had they seen him give such high regard to an ordinary person.

A praise like this was rare even back in the day.

Such an evaluation also made them realize sothing that no matter how many little sches they had, they couldn’t casually judge or express opinions about Lin Mo, or they might face consequences beyond their imagination.

The eting room fell silent again. After a long while, a man in his fifties or sixties, slightly overweight, said, "So, according to the National Elder, should we change the interrogator for Lin Mo, or should we get directly involved?"

"I have no objections. If I’m needed, I’m willing to take the lead."

"Even if Lin Mo has so major matters to disclose, I think my rank should be high enough to hear his secrets, right?"

Though he wasn’t very old, thanks to the grace of his ancestors, combined with his own hard work and ideas that often aligned with the National Elder’s, he had the qualifications to sit here and his position in practical work was quite high.

"Good, then I’ll trouble you with this task," the National Elder expressed his satisfaction with a slight nod, "Leave imdiately for Rakshasa City, and try to et with Lin Mo directly tonight if possible."

"The location of your eting doesn’t have to be too formal, an interrogation room is fine, a conference room works too."

"Go!"

"I wish you a smooth journey."

The young man who had just spoken rose from his chair, gave a sharp salute, then turned and left the conference room.

Once the door of the conference room closed again, tranquility was restored to the room.

The National Elder had nothing else to say; he looked at Lin Mo on the overhead monitor and gestured with his hand, "If you’re hungry, go ahead and eat sothing. Let forewarn you, today’s eting probably won’t end anyti soon."

"You should be prepared."

...

anwhile.

In Rakshasa City, Police Departnt.

The number of onlookers outside was growing, and even though most of Rakshasa City’s forces were gathered here, it still wasn’t quite enough.

The surrounding forces were also rapidly converging towards this location.

Although there were many people, the progression of events was exactly as the National Elder had predicted; the crowd had gathered, but there were no signs of trouble, and the situation was still completely under control.

In the interrogation room.

Hearing what Lin Mo had said, Song Jingnan was taken aback, but he didn’t get angry. Soon, he was smiling amiably again.

The other two people didn’t leave because of Lin Mo’s remark either.

They sat in the interrogation room chairs in the original order.

Once everyone was seated, Song Jingnan spoke unhurriedly, "Lin Mo, I think you need to understand sothing now."

"You are a criminal, and we are officers of the investigative agency, also designated interrogators by the higher-ups."

"Since you have co to surrender, you surely want to seek leniency and hope to save your own life as well as your family’s."

"Moreover, your family has also committed many cris within Grand Xia. If you refuse to cooperate..."

Upon hearing the threat against his family, Lin Mo’s bearing underwent a drastic transformation in an instant.

He frowned, staring intently at Song Jingnan, who sat in the middle, and said in a deep voice, "Are you threatening ?"

Song Jingnan was no longer courteous either. He crossed his arms, leaned back slightly, and said confrontationally, "You can take it that way. I can issue an arrest warrant right now and start investigations against your family both within Grand Xia and worldwide..."

His family was Lin Mo’s absolute taboo.

No one had yet dared to threaten him using the safety of his family, and Lin Mo would never allow such a thing to happen again.

Chen Kainan had been like this,

Chen Shanhe had been like this,

and so was Song Jingnan sitting before him now.

It just so happened that Lin Mo had received intelligence from the system when he returned to the country, which had revealed the nas and other information of the interrogators present that day.

With the data provided by the system, Lin Mo had already thoroughly investigated the several people in front of him.

Looking at Song Jingnan as if he were looking at a fool, Lin Mo’s tone remained even as he said, "Are you sure you want to threaten with my family?"

Song Jingnan nodded arrogantly; indeed, he would really like to know what Lin Mo could possibly do to him.

Provoking the prisoner was also a thod of interrogation.

He said in a disdainful tone, "Yes, that’s exactly what I think. What about it? Are you planning to have soone kill ?"

"Let tell you, I know you have a lot of power outside and many subordinates, but I, Song Jingnan, am not afraid. As a public servant, I have long been prepared for any eventuality, including sacrificing myself for the nation and the people at any mont."

His words sounded noble and righteous, not only moving himself but also making many people watching the live feed believe he was an upright good cop.

After all, speaking these words to Lin Mo was truly risky, because Lin Mo had the capability, and his subordinates had the ability to eliminate an interrogation expert!
