"First reason," She raised her index finger and continued, "You don’t seem like the person who could do such a thing."
"Oh?" The man touched his face in surprise. "I look like a good guy? Maybe that would help get away with the cri?"
Helena chuckled and shook her head, "You don’t exactly look like a good man. I just feel that you are not such a person. That’s all. Let’s call it my intuition."
"Hmm... fine. Let’s think that a young, rich lady’s intuition had a chance to be right once in a while. Now, what is your second reason?" The man asked.
"I have a few bodyguards protecting in secret. How can you think that I will be left alone outside without any protection just like that? Just as you said, who knows which man will kidnap to ask for ransom from my family? Right?" Helena asked.
The man raised an eyebrow and laughed out loud. "Oh, so, that’s the secret of the wealthy families. Ha ha. Fine. You win, young lady."
Helena laughed along with him.
There was actually no reason for either of them to laugh. They just felt comfortable in each other’s presence for so reason and their smiles wouldn’t leave their lips.
"Don’t call young lady. That makes you sound too old. You don’t look that older than , right?" Helena looked at him and asked.
"I am almost a decade older than you already. For my eyes, you are a young lady," The man replied with a cheeky smile.
Helena saw his smile and froze.
The man observed her expression and frowned, "What happened?"
Helena blinked her eyes. She shook her head, "For a second, I thought you looked familiar."
"Hey hey, you are married. I don’t go for married won, alright? That’s one classic pickup line you used on , young lady. Would youngsters of your age use these outdated pickup lines from the past generation?" The man raised both his hands in the air and even moved a few inches away from her.
Helena’s lips twitched, "Stop being over dramatic. Didn’t you see my husband earlier? He is so much more handso than you. Why would I try to flirt with you when I already have him?"
"Oh. Thank God! I was scared for a second there. What can I do? I am just too charming, and all the won couldn’t help but be attracted to . I am worried about my charm as well, okay?" The man once again touched his face and looked regretful, as if he was really worried about being too charming.
"..." Helena was speechless. She had never seen soone as shaless as this man before.
"Why are you looking at like that? You don’t trust ?" The man asked her.
Helena blinked her eyes. She observed his face clearly for a second. He was handso and charming indeed. She wouldn’t be surprised if many won fell for him and chased him.
But for so reason, when she saw his expression, she didn’t want to admit to it. She pursed her lips and refused to answer.
The man understood her emotions very clearly from her expression and couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
"You are very cute, young lady," The man remarked out of the blue. He had never seen a person who wears their feelings on their face like an open book like her before.
"Are you flirting with ?" Helena asked him.
"Hey, I don’t like young girls like you. I like mature won of my age, alright?" The man once again raised his arms in the air.
Helena’s lips twitched again.
No matter what he said, she couldn’t look at him like a man of older age. He should be, at most, in his late twenties. He is a young man. But in front of her, he always tried to portray himself as an elder.
"Fine, fine. You are an old man. Happy?" Helena asked, giving in to him.
"Hey, I am not old. I am too young to be called old." The man once again blew up like a cracker.
"..." Helena did not know how to react for a second. "How can you change your tune just like that? You say you are old once and say you are young later. What exactly do you want to say?"
"I am older than you. That’s all. I never said I am old. is it that hard to understand? How stupid are you?" The man scoffed. He raised his hand and ruffled her hair.
Then he froze. Helena froze as well.
He raised both his arms in the air at once again and apologized, "I am sorry. That was unintentional. I did not an to cross the line. That just happened. I am so sorry."
Helena blinked her eyes. Then she smiled.
For so reason, she did not feel like he crossed a line there. Instead, she felt warm when he did that.
After her mother’s death, she felt so familial love for the first ti when he did that.
But she couldn’t understand why she was feeling the familial warmth from a stranger, whom she had t just a few minutes ago.
She had yet to know his na. She knows nothing about this man. Yet, she felt she was closer to him compared to her other family mbers in the past few days.
She shook her head, "That’s fine. Let it be. Anyway, I am not stupid." She continued their earlier conversation, so that the man wouldn’t feel awkward for too long.
The man just rolled his eyes, "Yeah, sure."
"I really am not," Helena argued.
"Fine. You are not," He replied nonchalantly again.
Helena felt that she was being treated like a child and pouted.
"So, is your mood better now?" He asked out of the blue, shocking Helena.
"What do you an?" She asked, but soon realized what he was talking about. She was crying earlier. That was when he started to talk to her.
