Once Father Ford left the room, Helena cald down. She packed her mother's urn and carefully hid it away. She finished a few touch-ups before she joined the banquet.
She held onto Vernon's arm and t all the guests one by one calmly with a smile.
But Vernon could sense that sothing had gone very bad between her and her father. But he did not ask her anything as he had already understood that she wouldn't tell him even if he asked.
Just like that, the wedding and the reception ca to an end.
As the newlywed couple, Vernon and Helena were sent to the honeymoon suite in the hotel on the topmost floor.
The rest of the family mbers had left and gave the couple their space.
But as soon as the 'newlywed couple' entered the 'honeymoon' suite, they did not look at each other at all.
They calmly went to the bathroom one after another to freshen up and went to bed to sleep, saying they were too tired.
The night ended calmly with no ripples anywhere.
After waking up, the couple had breakfast.
Vernon bit his lips from ti to ti.
Since Helena had asked him the night before, he knew that she knew he was the one to arrange for a pregnant woman to appear at their wedding. He still had no answers to give her.
No matter how much he hated her right now, he couldn't disrespect her. He had to take care of many things before being able to divorce her successfully. He can't act rashly anymore.
"Let's go," Helena wiped her lips and told him.
"Huh? Oh. Ok," Vernon nodded and stood up as he slowly followed behind her.
If she wouldn't ask him anything, that would be for the best. Right? Or not?
If she directly asked him, everything would be out in the open and he could - or might - try to poach the topic of their divorce as well. But if she did not ask him anything, it would an that she would plan sothing behind his back, right?
They went to the Jeffery house and greeted all the elders as per customs and then left.
Vernon and Helena had already bought a new villa for their married life and the renovations had been done before the wedding.
So, they went directly to their house.
"I am going out," Helena told Vernon.
Vernon frowned. He rembered this scene from his last life. She said she would go out shopping. Like the good husband that he was, he gave her his credit cards and she went shopping for the whole month since then.
He wouldn't make the sa mistake again. He would not let her take another penny from him in this lifeti.
He nodded and calmly asked her, "Where?"
[Where? What should I tell him?] She thought for a second and answered, "Shopping."
If he had not listened to her inner voice, he would never have found that she was lying about shopping.
(If she wasn't going shopping, then where was she going? Why was she lying to ?) Vernon was confused.
He nodded so that she wouldn't doubt him. As expected she did not doubt for a second and left imdiately.
He took his phone out and dialed a number, "I want you to follow Helena and inform about all of her movents. Don't miss anything. I want to know what she was doing each and every second."
"Boss, are you sure?" Noah was stunned by his boss's sudden order.
"I am very sure. Do everything silently. No one should notice anything. Including Helena. Ask the n to keep a good distance away from her. She shouldn't doubt anything," Vernon gave more careful instructions.
Noah did not dare to say a word against his boss and agreed respectfully.
Vernon and Helena had been good friends for many years. Noah really couldn't understand what had suddenly changed between the two.
Just the day before, his boss had arranged for a woman to fake her pregnancy and stop the marriage, albeit it ended in failure.
Now he wanted him to appoint n to follow Helena?
This is done with the enemies, right?
Noah was more than confused but he did not dare to think about his boss's actions anymore and calmly carried out his mission.
In the afternoon, Vernon t with Tristan and Theo for lunch.
"Vernon, I still can't understand your plan, man. Why did you do all that yesterday?" Tristan asked him the question he had been dying to ask for a day.
"Nothing," Vernon kept his calm without answering the question.
Theo sipped so water , wiped his lips and looked at him, "Vernon. You can't just say nothing and stay quiet. This is a very big matter. Do you understand that? The Jeffery's had suffered because of you. Thankfully, Helena handled the matter imdiately and the Fords did not back down from the marriage. Otherwise, do you know how low the Jeffery's stocks would have fallen to?"
"I know. How could I not? But I am sure even if they fell once, we could get them back up. It might take so ti but that's all." Vernon did not change his expression. Except for his tightened fist, there is nothing notable in his face.
Theo frowned when he saw this. The Vernon he knew wasn't like this. He had been very expressive all his life. He would sotis even exaggerate so things with just his expressions.
This calm Vernon is nothing like the Vernon he had known all along.
In the calm room, suddenly a phone rang.
It was Tristan's.
Tristan looked at his phone and then at Vernon.
Vernon frowned as he did not understand why he was looking at him like that, "Who is that?"
"Helena," Tristan replied.
"Put it on speaker," Vernon ordered with his raised eyebrow.
In his last life, Helena had done things that made him break his friendship with Tristan. When he heard that Helena was calling Tristan, he couldn't help but think about what she was planning.
