Tian Xiang took the porcelain basin to the water room to wash up, and ng Cheng’an ca back.
The two of them t at the entrance of the hallway.
Tian Xiang asked him, "Where did you go?"
ng Cheng’an lifted the net bag in his hand, which contained fruit and snacks.
"I’ll take them to school to eat later."
Turns out he went to buy things for himself.
Tian Xiang said no more to him.
As they walked towards the dormitory, they encountered a neighbor living next door, a young woman nearing thirty, with a child. Her husband was a formal employee at the institute.
ng Cheng’an introduced Tian Xiang to her, saying this is his wife.
The woman laughed, these two look really pleasing when standing together!
Back at the dormitory, Tian Xiang tidied up a few things. She’d have to return to school later after dinner.
The institute has a cafeteria, no need to cook at ho, just can go eat directly.
The two of them had a casual dinner, each with a portion of sour soup dumplings. ng Cheng’an’s were vegetarian, Tian Xiang’s were pork and cabbage stuffed.
As they were eating, Yao Ling and He ng also ca in, ordered dumplings, and sat in the corner diagonally opposite Tian Xiang and ng Cheng’an.
Thinking of previous matters, Yao Ling felt vexed and had little appetite.
He ng asked her, "What’s wrong?"
Yao Ling said nothing, just glanced over at ng Cheng’an.
He ng followed her gaze, chuckled, and said, "It’s been so long, why can’t you let it go?"
Saying to let it go but still staring at others nonetheless.
But ng Cheng’an’s heart is just like iron, unfazed by anyone swaying in front of him.
Yao Ling: "Talking nonsense, I’ve long stopped thinking about those things. I’m just feeling it’s not worthy for ng Cheng’an to have chosen such a woman..."
Yao Ling soon recounted the afternoon event of going to find ng Cheng’an but seeing Tian Xiang instead.
He ng was sowhat surprised, "Really?"
Yao Ling: "Is there any doubt about it. I know they are in a relationship, but this is too bold, shaless."
Especially that calling "you ghost," which sounded like a village woman.
He ng awkwardly chuckled.
At first glance, it was indeed a bit shocking, but then when you consider they’ve been together for quite a while and seeing how ng Cheng’an seems to have acknowledged it, perhaps it’s normal.
From afar, Tian Xiang saw Yao Ling and her follower whispering like that, probably guessing they were speaking ill of her.
She thought for a mont and told ng Cheng’an about Yao Ling showing up in the afternoon.
"She explicitly wanted to find you. From the tone, you seem to have a good relationship usually?"
ng Cheng’an corrected, "Very ordinary, just regular classmates."
Tian Xiang: "Why didn’t she find soone else and ca specifically to see you?" Especially alone—it’s hard for Tian Xiang to believe she had no ulterior motives.
Actually, she knew back then, but after so long, she surprisingly hadn’t given up yet.
ng Cheng’an: "Who knows, maybe she went to other people’s dorms first and then ca to mine later."
This ti, eight people from their class were assigned to this area, and recently, the institute allocated temporary dorms to everyone, but others got two-person or four-person rooms while only he got a suite.
Partly due to behind-the-scenes favors and also because ng Cheng’an’s skills were so outstanding. Others were just organizing docunts and writing materials while he had to identify and restore artifacts.
Tian Xiang glanced at him, "By the way, she seems unaware of our marriage. You haven’t ntioned it over at school?"
ng Cheng’an was slightly taken aback, "Is it necessary to ntion? I’ll ntion it to them later."
Since no one asked, indeed, he hadn’t actively ntioned his personal matters.
Tian Xiang: "Forget it, it doesn’t matter anymore. Do as you like."
At the beginning when getting married, explicitly stating these things was not an issue; but now, over half a year has passed, deliberately bringing it up feels awkward.
After dinner, Tian Xiang picked up her stuff and prepared to head back, ng Cheng’an accompanied her, only turning back to work after she got on the bus.
At the entrance of the unit, ng Cheng’an chatted a bit with the doorman and then borrowed a newspaper to sit and read.
Busy with moving things to school this morning, he hadn’t had ti to read the newspaper.
ng Cheng’an loves reading the newspaper, never misses a day.
His relationship with classmates was average, but he had a good relationship with the doorman; it was the sa at school, always greeting when coming and going and sotis sitting by the guard room, just like now.
The doorman, holding a large tea mug, asked him who the lady was, if she was his partner.
ng Cheng’an: "She’s my wife. We got married early this year."
So he was married, the doorman smiled, "Congratulations!"
"Thank you."
After finishing the newspaper, ng Cheng’an left, heading towards the dormitory area, bumped into Yao Ling and He ng again upon entering.
He nodded slightly in acknowledgnt and walked by.
Yao Ling called after him, "ng Cheng’an."
ng Cheng’an stopped, looked back at her inexplicably.
Yao Ling smiled, "There’s a tea party at the second dorm’s male dorm later, rember to co!"
ng Cheng’an: "Did you go to find just to tell this?"
Yao Ling was montarily stunned, then laughed, "Yes!"
ng Cheng’an: "I have so work to deal with tonight, probably can’t attend."
Yao Ling smirked, apart from school events, he never joined privately organized ones by the students.
No matter how many ideas Yao Ling had, no openings were given for external people.
"Alright, you handle your busy matters then."
Yao Ling was about to leave.
ng Cheng’an thought for a mont and spoke, "Wait."
Yao Ling turned back, a bit delighted thinking he changed his mind, only to hear ng Cheng’an say, "In the future, don’t co to the dorm area looking for . Today my wife saw you and wasn’t happy; in the future, if there’s anything, speak at the office or have Fu Chen carry the ssage."
Fu Chen was also a classmate, just a male one.
Having said that, ng Cheng’an walked off directly.
Yao Ling’s smile froze on her face, and then she incredulously asked He ng, "What did he just say? Wife? He married that woman?"
He ng looked sowhat dazed but quickly responded, "Should be."
There’s indeed a difference between calling soone a partner and calling them a wife.
Yao Ling stood frozen.
So she never had a chance!
He ng sighed and tugged at her, "Let it be, let’s go."
The man is married already, what more can be expected?
Really...
A proper family’s girl wouldn’t do such a thing.
They were all students from prestigious universities with promising futures, no need to be fixated on one person.
Elsewhere, when Tian Xiang returned, Xiao Lei told her the class monitor had co earlier, asking her to go see them.
Xiao Lei: "I reckon it’s about the TV drama casting the group ntioned earlier. The departnt is likely recomnding you."
Xiao Lei spoke with signs of envy.
Tian Xiang had good looks and decent grades, being recomnded was logical.
Acting, huh!
They just entered second year, but Tian Xiang wasn’t very interested.
