Yan Jian’s mind turned into a ss, and she quickly explained, "I didn’t lose it. That day, I accidentally spilled so... uh, milkshake on it, got it dirty. I sent it out for cleaning, and I’ll get it back in a couple of days."
These words left Shi Nian and Yan Yu both stunned. Shi Nian then laughed, "Since when has our shop started selling milkshakes? What, thinking of adding desserts, planning to partner up with Yan Yu for a joint business?"
Yan Jian was so embarrassed she wanted to hit a wall.
A milkshake... she managed to co up with such a na on the spur of the mont!
How would she ever enjoy milkshakes herself after this?
.
After dark, Shi Nian found an excuse and asked Yan Yu to go out and get two dinners for her and Yan Jian.
The shop was left with only Shi Nian and Yan Jian, and Shi Nian finally asked, "Have you t with Jas recently?"
Yan Jian’s eyes widened in nervousness, "Sister-in-law, why are you asking this?"
Shi Nian looked up and down at Yan Jian’s reaction and smiled, patting her shoulder, "Relax, I’m not interrogating you. Just a general inquiry."
Yet Yan Jian still couldn’t relax, "Why ask ? Did you just assu I’ve t him?"
Shi Nian originally wanted to tease Yan Jian a bit more, but she held back. There was sothing more important on her mind.
She lowered her head and carefully fingered a string of grinning purple sandalwood beads, speaking slowly, "Actually, my purpose in asking wasn’t to interrogate you or Jas. It’s because of soone else: Mark. Mark from the Lynch family."
.
Shi Nian was naturally very concerned about the news of Mark’s release from prison.
And the fact that he took over the Ford Group shortly after his release was even more shocking to Shi Nian.
Although objectively speaking, in terms of age or experience, Mark couldn’t possibly be a match for Jas; however, Mark was not an ordinary person by any ans, not to ntion Shi Nian, having sumd up past experiences, was increasingly aware of Mark’s desire to beco like Huangfu Huazhang.
Even from Xiang Yuan’s later accounts, Shi Nian vaguely felt that this Mark wasn’t just saying he wanted to beco Huangfu Huazhang; he had even begun to train himself quietly... Xiang Yuan ntioned that Mark had once easily stirred his emotions, causing him to lose control, so Shi Nian worried that Mark might have already learned psychological manipulation techniques.
Wanting to beco soone ans he would make himself equally proficient in the things that person excels at.
And the experiences from prison might have matured Mark quickly. Jas would undoubtedly face more difficulties having to deal with both the Lynch father and son.
Shi Nian tried not to reveal anything through her expression, "I just want to know about Mark taking over Ford Group. I thought if you had the chance to et with Jas, he might occasionally ntion it to you."
Yan Jian knew that Shi Nian would never bring up such a thing without reason, so her heart couldn’t help but tighten.
"Sister-in-law, you an—could it be that Jas is in danger?"
Shi Nian looked up, said nothing, and just silently observed Yan Jian’s facial expressions.
Anxiousness, sothing that she wasn’t even aware she revealed.
Shi Nian sighed once again in her heart.
George and Huangfu Huazhang’s fifteen-year conflict was extrely fierce. In the end... Mr. perished in the sea of fire.
No matter whether what Mr. did in life was right or wrong, she ultimately still regretted not being able to bring him back... This regret unconsciously transferred to Jas.
She feared that Jas would beco the next Mr., but thankfully Jas still t Yan Jian.
Perhaps, like with Mr., Jas’s last moral judgnt would rest on Yan Jian. But it was evident that Yan Jian showed more resistance and animosity towards Jas—at least, that’s what she publicly displayed. Therefore, Shi Nian worried that Yan Jian’s attitude might push Jas further away, leading him down the sa road of no return that Mr. once traveled.
However, observing Yan Jian, the apparent anxiety and concern she unknowingly revealed brightened Shi Nian’s heart.
This little girl, she perhaps didn’t even realize she was already worried about him.
So, Jas... still has hope.
She then felt joyous and couldn’t help but smile, "Whether it’s dangerous can’t be said for sure yet, because it depends on Jas’s own ability to respond. If he’s capable, then this won’t be dangerous, just a crisis; but if Jas doesn’t have enough ability, then it is dangerous, and it poses a huge threat to his life."
Yan Jian couldn’t help but shiver, "Sister-in-law, do you an to say the Lynch father and son will join forces to get rid of Jas?"
