The tires screeched against the pavent, the blinding lights flashed before her eyes, and the airbag bulged like a rapidly rising dough, obstructing Catherine’s view completely.

All that remained in her mind was that persistent obsession.

She decided to leave temporarily, but she planned to return later.

Yan Jian’s unusual behavior tonight, her woman’s intuition told her, was not because he wanted to work overti.

She thought of Jas.

She had a damn feeling that Jas would show up!

Just like how Little Ben couldn’t resist visiting the school out of curiosity, she knew Jas would have the sa thought.

So she couldn’t just watch everything unfold in her studio, right under her nose.

She needed to see Jas appear, see what they were doing, and confront them — make Yan Jian feel ashad and Jas understand how deeply he had hurt her!

The obsession in her heart was too strong, too urgent, so she couldn’t care less about her current circumstances. She forgot about ergency avoidance, ignored the fact that she was in a car accident, and neglected — the accident could be fatal, even if she survived, it could leave a heavy scar.

She couldn’t care about anything else.

She just wanted to keep Jas.

Five years, the most beautiful five years of her life. She offered them to him, hoping he wouldn’t betray her.

Her last conscious thought lingered on the flashing lights of the ambulance tearing through the night...

Jas, she still needed to see Jas tonight.

.

Catherine’s car accident, Yan Jian still didn’t know, nor did Jas.

In fact, Jas had already arrived, sitting in his car waiting outside the campus.

Catherine’s design was financed by him, so he knew all the participants in the plan. He sat in the car patiently watching the studio staff leave one by one.

Finally, it was Catherine’s burgundy DS.

He squinted his blue eyes as her burgundy DS brushed past his car, carefully watching Catherine.

Catherine’s car wasn’t tinted; she preferred the look of a flashy car with a beautiful lady, rather than having a tinted window that blocked the view of the beautiful person inside. She was always confident in her looks, so she chose to let passersby see her inside the car.

Even though it was just a brief encounter, Jas, knowing Catherine well, could tell her expression was cold and her driving stiff. This indicated she left in anger.

Jas lowered his eyes and looked at the tattoo on his left index finger.

When he was young, whenever he felt nervous or helpless, he would instinctively bite that finger.

The saliva contains digestive enzys, even against one’s own skin, thus the skin remained difficult to heal for a long ti. Over ti, it beca a scar, imprinted with his years of sadness.

On his 18th birthday, he tattooed that old scar into a black snake. The scar beca the tongue, the hardest-to-heal part beca the snake’s forked tongue, while the black snake body coiling around his finger looked like a black ring.

Catherine wouldn’t be upset for no reason. His survival instincts, honed over the years, told him: Catherine’s anger likely stemd from his decision, indicating that Yan Jian acted amateurishly in front of Catherine, which she detected.

After so many years together, how could he not know that Catherine’s temporary departure was just a strategy, and she might return anyti?

The old wound on his left index finger itched oddly, and he couldn’t resist biting it again before calling Ben Shaming, instructing him to watch over Catherine tonight.

Without giving Ben Shaming an explanation.

Having arranged everything, he glanced as Catherine’s car drove away before leisurely getting out of his car. He looked up at the last ray of sunset, buttoned his coat slowly and deliberately, and then stepped across the sidewalk toward the gates of Westside Fashion Design College.

He calculated his timing, so that just as he stepped into Westside Fashion Design College, the twilight vanished completely, and darkness enveloped the world abruptly.

Night had fallen.

He and she had agreed to et; it was ant to be "tonight."

That’s why he wouldn’t enter before the twilight was completely gone;
