It was a morning when sunlight stread through the glass doors of the police station, illuminating the entire long corridor. Then this person, with the light behind him, walked all the way along the corridor from the entrance.

At that mont, Tang Yanqing and Shi Nian had just finished a briefing with the team. As they walked to the desk, they casually looked up, and their gaze t the person walking against the light.

Such a tall and slender figure, such graceful steps, and more importantly, that slightly pale face, those eyes that were as noble and cold as ice.

The two of them exchanged a glance and understood that they both, for a fleeting mont, thought they saw Huangfu Huazhang again.

Tang Yanqing pressed Shi Nian’s wrist and stepped forward first: "Why is it you?"

Jas.

Shi Nian also noticed the change in Jas: Jas used to have long hair tied into a ponytail at the back; but this ti, it was cut short, neatly combed back, making him appear more mature and calm. Hence, he looked even more like Huangfu Huazhang.

Jas had his hands in his pockets, shrugged and smiled: "I thought, if I didn’t co, it would be Mr. Tang who would be surprised."

Tang Yanqing tilted his head: "Well, you are indeed George’s brother. You’re here to hire a lawyer for George."

Jas smiled at Tang Yanqing, his eyes hard to read, his smile a mix of warmth and coolness. But he said nothing, clearly not wanting to explain.

Shi Nian thought for a mont and stepped forward, saying: "Jas, how is Yanjian?"

.

As soon as the words were out, even Tang Yanqing was ignored by Jas, who squinted his eyes and looked up at Shi Nian.

The abrupt change in expression naturally did not escape the eyes of Tang Yanqing and Shi Nian.

He quickly covered it up, giving a snort: "Mr. Shi has been away for 17 months, indeed mory hasn’t fully returned. Tang Yanjian is Mr. Tang’s sister, why do you ask instead of Mr. Tang?"

Shi Nian didn’t argue, just raised her eyes to et his: "I can never forget that because of ’The Middle Ages’, Yanjian and Jas beca acquainted after a clash. I’ve been gone 17 months, and I don’t know whether you two have reconciled or continued your conflict."

Jas quickly replied, sneering coldly: "No need to reconcile, and naturally no need to continue the conflict. I just frequented that shop to buy a few items, and after a spat, I naturally stopped going. It’s been so long since I stopped going there, and naturally had no more interaction with Tang Yanjian."

Shi Nian nodded: "Oh, I see that’s how it is."

Jas snorted a bit discontentedly.

Shi Nian pursed her lips into a smile, then looked up again: "But since you and Yanjian haven’t seen each other for a long ti and have had no further interaction, why are you so agitated when I ntion Yanjian, and so eager to answer, eager to disassociate?"

She took another step closer, staring directly into Jas’s eyes: "Jas, don’t you realize that your reaction just now didn’t help you hide anything, but rather proved you were lying?"

"You!"

Jas gasped, stepping back two paces: "I don’t know what you’re talking about. This is a police station, I don’t think it’s up to a journalist to question like this in public."

"You’re overthinking," Shi Nian smiled wryly: "Whether this is a police station or whether I’m a journalist isn’t the key. I asked you those questions as Tang Yanjian’s future family."

Tang Yanqing raised an eyebrow and looked over, a smile creeping onto his face.

Because of Jieyou’s situation, for the past half month since returning, Tang Yanqing hadn’t insisted on bringing Shi Nian and Jieyou back to the Tang Family. And regarding their future wedding, he had been patiently waiting. Unexpectedly today, Shi Nian brought up the issue of identity on her own.

He understood that this ant she was ready in her heart.

Jas’s expression turned a bit ugly: "Regardless of Mr. Shi’s identity, my answer remains the sa: I haven’t seen her for a long ti, and I have no more interactions with her!"

At this mont, Gao Cheng walked over, glanced at everyone, and then said businesslike: "George has been brought in, Jas, do you want to see him or not?"

Tang Yanqing wanted to follow, but was held back by Shi Nian.

Tang Yanqing turned back to look at her with a smile: "What are you up to now?"

Shi Nian smiled cunningly: "I think Jas doesn’t co with malice. So don’t be defensive, let him feel our goodwill too."

Tang Yanqing nodded: "Right. For example, the last ti he suddenly appeared in Asia with George’s bomb designer, I knew he actually had good intentions. Just very surprising."

"Can’t find the reason for his goodwill, can you?" Shi Nian laughed, secretly pinching the palm of Tang Yanqing’s hand: "I thought of it, most likely, it’s Yanjian."

.

After George was brought back, he was handed over to Tang Yan Yi.

But this ti, George’s psychological defenses couldn’t even be breached by Tang Yan Yi.

George kept saying just one thing: he was innocent. Everything was done by Huangfu Huazhang.

He said he took Shi Nian away in M Country, but that was under the psychological control of Huangfu Huazhang. He said this was originally a reasoning ga between Huangfu Huazhang and the police, and he was just a pawn.

As for the matters in Asia, they have nothing to do with the police of M Country.

He smiled and stared at Tang Yan Yi: "Huangfu Huazhang is already dead. Killing soone is enough to punctuate the matter; when a person dies, the debt vanishes. Xiao Yi, what more do you want? I know that you couldn’t catch him yourself or make him confess in court, which is an everlasting regret in your heart. But that doesn’t an you should cling to and want to beco his scapegoat."

Tang Yan Yi sneered: "I think it’s not you becoming his scapegoat, but you trying to make him your scapegoat instead."

Just then, Gao Cheng arrived with Jas.

Tang Yan Yi walked out of the interrogation room, and as she brushed past Jas, she couldn’t help but squint her eyes and glance at him.

She also noticed the sudden increase in similarity between Jas and Huangfu Huazhang.

.

In the room, the two brothers faced each other.

George faced the one-way mirror, carefully observing his younger brother, then smiled and raised his eyes to observe the large mirror. He waved his hand: "Guess, now behind that glass, is anyone watching you and ?"

Jas shrugged indifferently: "Just now, Gao Cheng said that after I entered, he had already turned off the surveillance equipnt."

"Ha..." George chuckled hoarsely, then lifted his head, squinting as he looked over: "You know, I’ve heard that a bastard child can tell by instinct whether soone is standing behind that glass, and where they’re positioned."

Jas couldn’t help but squint and look back at the glass.

George nodded in satisfaction: "And you and I, no matter how much we resemble him, can’t do that, right?"

Jas frowned, turned back around: "I didn’t co here today to mourn him with you."

"Uh-huh," George shrugged indifferently: "Did you co to show your victory?"

Jas raised an eyebrow: "You could say that. The three of us fought for so long, and the final winner is . I bet this is sothing you never expected all these years, right?"

George laughed, staring at his younger brother: "Jas, you’re still young. In this world, who says what we see now is forever?"

"But either way, you and I are still brothers of flesh and blood." Jas lazily stretched his neck: "So I’ll get you a lawyer. All your money and assets have gone to Isee, and you’re penniless now, can’t even afford a lawyer."

"What if I can’t afford it?" George smiled: "I can still ask the court to appoint a legal aid lawyer."

"Alright," Jas laughed: "Mr. Tang Yixi will be delighted to hear that. He’s waiting for you."

Indeed, George’s face changed at the ntion of Tang Yixi. Talking about him still made his heart tremble with fear.

Jas nodded: "So let get you a lawyer."

George took a deep breath: "Who did you hire?"

Jas then got up and walked towards the door, grasping the doorknob without turning back: "Xiang Yuan."

After Jas spoke, he opened the door and walked out, unsurprised to hear George’s cursing behind him.

Jas also stopped, smiling sadly.

He didn’t want this either, but there was no longer a chance for them as brothers to return to the past.

In this sense, he understood Huangfu Huazhang’s final choice: it wasn’t that he didn’t want to go back, but rather he could no longer go back.

.

Shi Nian was specially approved by Police Commissioner to accompany Tang Yanqing in eting Zhong Kui and Marina.

Marina’s attitude was still sowhat resistant, and Zhong Kui repeatedly stood and bowed, apologizing for her.

Tang Yanqing remained silent, just staring at Marina calmly.

Zhong Kui dared not et Tang Yanqing’s eyes directly, so he spoke only to Shi Nian: "Nana, I’m sorry. I’ve hidden the truth for so long."

Shi Nian smiled: "Zhong Kui, witnessing so many cris but not speaking out is quite unpleasant, isn’t it? I know you’ve always been tornted by your conscience, yet you endured it. It’s because you wanted to protect soone."

"That person is soone you wanted to protect even if you had to swallow fear and guilt in your dreams."

Zhong Kui was slightly surprised, then his gaze softened.

He took a deep breath and nodded: "Yes."
