After three months, the office renovation that Yan Jian did for Jas was finally completed.
During the previous three months, the entire office was tightly locked down, and no one was allowed to visit, including Jas.
Prior to this, when Yan Jian agreed to renovate the office for Jas, the first condition she set was that no one, including himself, could visit during the construction process. The reason being that with different Eastern and Western cultural backgrounds, it was inevitable to nitpick and criticize from completely different cultural perspectives during construction.
She didn’t like it; she demanded complete and independent design freedom.
Jas could only agree.
Patiently he waited for three months, patiently watched her managing her schoolwork along with her "Middle Ages" commitnts while still diligently appearing in his office. Although sotis she just ca to take a glance and then left, this feeling of being close to her, coming and going together, still made him very satisfied.
Although, in these three months, she in his territory treated him as if he were invisible. Sotis when they bumped into each other, she would also keep walking nonchalantly without a change of expression.
His subordinates were sowhat unhappy with the attitude of this female designer and couldn’t help but privately ask him if they should teach her a little lesson. But he got anxious first, glaring and questioning the subordinate, "What do you intend to do? Speak!"
After saying that, he also regretted it himself and racked his brains to make it right, saying, "She is highly professional, only focused on how to renovate the office for . You know my standards, don’t you? If she dares to do a single thing wrong, I’ll have her tear it all down and redo it."
This statent might fool his subordinates, but it definitely wouldn’t fool Catherine.
A woman’s intuition is frightening, especially when it cos to matters of the heart. Although he is soone who keeps business and private affairs separate, not liking won to co to his office without reason since she is just his girlfriend, not his wife, he didn’t want to cause misunderstandings for won or outsiders.
Yet Catherine, with the pretext of having business affairs with him—the fashion show affairs, ca uninvited several tis.
Unaware that his office was under renovation, Catherine followed the signage in the lobby to his office, only to stumble upon Yan Jian. Yan Jian misunderstood that Catherine was intentionally disrespecting her request and was deliberately investigating during the renovation, so the two won naturally started to dislike each other.
The first ti they t, they quarreled, alarming Jas enough to personally co and resolve the situation. Catherine naturally assud the posture of the rightful girlfriend, stepping forward to cling to Jas’ arm, protesting, "Jamie, what kind of designer did you find? So young, clearly lacking in experience; and with such a bad temper, how can she be responsible for designing your office? Such an important matter, why didn’t you personally oversee it?"
Jas uncharacteristically blushed on the spot.
Yan Jian instinctively wiped her face with her hand, then stood with her hands on her hips, sneering, "You really did ask the right person. I wasn’t hired by just anyone; I was personally invited by this boss. Please note my choice of words, ’invited,’ not ’going after.’" You understand?"
Catherine found it hard to believe her ears, looking back in shock at Jas, "Jamie, is this true?"
Jas felt his face burning, as if soone had slapped him from afar, and could only bow his head, muttering, "Yeah."
Catherine was at a loss for words, repeatedly glancing at the two in front of her, and after a while, she said, "Do you rember France? For the design of your beloved little farmhouse, how many top international designers have you rejected? Yet, for this important office, how could you entrust it to such a young girl?!"
As the commotion grew louder, it attracted onlookers from the company.
Jas beca even more unable to hold it in, fixing a cold stare on Catherine, "This is my own company, my own office. It’s entirely my business what I want it to look like and whom I entrust to design it. Catherine, I don’t understand what your strong objection ans or who gave you such authority?"
Catherine was stunned, never expecting Jas to be so cold and heartless. She tried to smile, "Jamie, I’m your girlfriend. Naturally, I care about your affairs. I’m doing this for you."
Yan Jian then looked up at Catherine.
Ah, so this is his girlfriend.
The situation suddenly beca delicate, making Yan Jian very uncomfortable. She turned and darted into the enclosure, grabbed her backpack, ca out, and glared at Jas, "I’m really sorry, I didn’t know this beautiful lady was your girlfriend. I mistook her for your employee interfering with my design, so it’s my mistake for offending her. Forget it, no need for you to terminate the contract with ; I will resign out of guilt."
Jas squinted his blue eyes and looked down at her.
Her petite figure was clad in oversized denim workwear, all sared with marks of cent and plaster. She herself was unaware that, as she instinctively wiped her face just now, she had sared her face with plaster from her hands.
This once neatly grood, porcelain doll-like girl now looked like the quintessential worker, and he could see the effort she had put into this project.
After all, for her, it was akin to entering a different field altogether, and it was her first ti facing such a situation, especially since he shoved it onto her, not giving her the chance to refuse. Yet she never complained, never gave up halfway, gritting her teeth through the three months, and the end was near... The pressure she bore over these three months was imaginable.
He took a deep breath and reached out to grab her elbow, pulling her back.
Yan Jian was furious and anxious, glaring at him, "Let go! Find your own girlfriend to design for you!"
He raised his head slightly, squinting, "Girlfriends? They can be changed at any ti."
The words were spoken lightly but landed heavily on the ears and heart. Catherine looked over in shock, "Jamie?"
Turning his head, his blue eyes filled with coldness, and his lips curled into a sarcastic smile, "We broke up. From that mont just now, we are no longer a couple. You’re not my girlfriend anymore."
"Of course, if you’re unwilling to collaborate on that project either, I can withdraw my investnt at any ti. It’s up to you to decide."
Catherine gazed in despair at this coldhearted man before her, feeling her heart turn to ash. She wanted to step forward and slap him and then walk away. But... her dreams were still in his grasp, and if she wanted to transition grandly from a model to a designer, she couldn’t do without his funding.
She took a deep breath, clenched her fists tightly to maintain her composure, and then smiled gorgeously and elegantly, "Break up? Fine. After all, in the five years we’ve known each other, we’ve broken up countless tis. And every ti you would co back to . This ti I’m not worried, break up then."
She stepped forward and gazed pitifully at Yan Jian, chuckling, "Don’t be mistaken; this is just our playful banter, not because of you. You don’t even qualify for that, besides..."
She deliberately cast a glance up and down at Yan Jian’s figure, "you’re not his type. He’s never liked Eastern girls, never has."
Yan Jian couldn’t help but feel cold, despite trying to control it, still trembling slightly.
She forced herself to smile, eting Catherine’s provocative gaze, "I have no idea what you’re talking about. This man in your eyes like a treasure looks like a gay to . A man growing such long hair, even tying a ponytail, looking even more like blue eyes wearing contact lenses... tsk, so effeminate, who would care."
She also stood on tiptoe and patted Catherine on the shoulder, "Let tell you, the reason I accepted his invitation was not because of him, but because of his money. You know, I’m not an experienced designer, yet there’s a fool willing to throw such a large sum of money for to experint with. Why not? Anyway, it’s not my money being wasted if everything goes wrong."
Yan Jian spoke with innocent laughter, "I wonder how much he is willing to throw at you?"
Catherine was provoked, couldn’t help but growl, "Three million dollars!"
Yan Jian shrugged, "Wow, that’s a lot." Then stood on tiptoe to whisper in Catherine’s ear, "I guess he gave less. Not that I don’t know the number, but he didn’t give any specific number at all. He said, no limit, I can do as I please."
After speaking, Yan Jian placed her heels firmly on the ground and took a step back, smiling harmlessly. Catherine was trembling with anger, unable to speak.
Jas glared at Yan Jian, grinding his teeth, truly wishing to transform into a vampire and fiercely bite into her jade-sculptured neck.
Let her be smug!
However... he couldn’t deny that aside from wanting to bite her, his heart inexplicably beat out of pace, as if the world had turned upside down.
He restrained himself, just restraining himself, waiting for the renovation to be completed to see what she would ultimately present to him.
Finally, the day arrived when she would unveil her intentions to him.
Standing outside the enclosure, he raised an eyebrow at her, "Should I blindfold myself?"
