Zan Hua hurriedly composed herself and bowed to Jas: "Hello, please co in."
In the shop, Yan Jian heard Yu Huan’s call and knew a custor had arrived, so she quickly adjusted her emotions. However, when she looked up, she unexpectedly t Jas’ blue eyes.
Yan Jian felt as if she had seen a ghost and exclaid, "Why is it you?!"
Jas sighed inwardly. This shop was truly unique; at the door, he had been teased by a parrot, then treated like a ghost by the shop assistant, and now Yan Jian looked at him with such disdain.
He turned his neck: "Why can’t it be ?"
He said while looking around: "Isn’t this a business? Anyone who walks in is a custor. Why should I not be allowed to co?"
In his heart, he silently recited: George said to try to get closer to the Tang Family. For him, the threshold of the Tang Family was this Miss Tang. If he wanted to enter the Tang family, he first had to cross the threshold of Tang Yan Jian.
Even though he, too, found it difficult to face, he had no choice but to confront it. No matter how hostile she was to him, he had to endure it.
"Sorry, our shop doesn’t want your business," Yan Jian said unceremoniously, her expression cold.
Jas laughed coldly with hands behind his back: "Why? Are you worried that I’m not sincere about buying sothing or afraid that I can’t afford it?"
"Neither," Yan Jian’s eyes burned with anger: "Business also depends on fate. The products sold in this shop all rely on fate, not just profit. Even if you have money, if you and the goods do not have a bond, we will not sell them."
Jas shrugged arrogantly: "Such mysterious talk, it’s a pity I’m a M Country person and can’t understand. In our dictionary, there are only the words ’legal.’ As for fate, it has nothing to do with the law. I only know this is a shop open to custors; I buy items and pay money, you can’t refuse at the door. Otherwise, you would be violating consur rights, and I could sue you."
As he spoke, he took a step forward, almost touching Yan Jian’s shoulder, lowered his head and whispered in her ear: "Besides, you are not the owner of this shop. I heard the owner of this shop is in prison. You surely don’t wish for the shop owner to further violate the law and cause trouble for this shop, do you?"
Yan Jian’s expression indeed shifted.
He lowered his gaze, blue eyes fixed on Yan Jian’s expression, and said slowly: "Your Tang family is a legal family, how could this happen again and again illegally, don’t you think so, Miss Tang?"
Yan Jian angrily clenched her fists, raised her head, and glared at him.
Zan Hua saw things were going wrong and quickly stepped forward to hold Yan Jian’s arm, whispering advice: "Yan Jian!"
Yan Jian cald down, looked around, and rembered this was the shop of her elder sister. Everywhere, at the junction of light and shadow, she seed to still see the tranquil figure and serene smile of her elder sister. Her heart then returned to peace, and she nodded calmly: "Alright, you choose."
With that, she turned away elegantly, no longer paying him any attention.
Jas seed to have gained a victory, but after wandering around the shop a few tis, he found she no longer looked at him, and his heart felt empty. He couldn’t help but walk over to her table: "Actually, I know why Miss Tang was so displeased with just now."
Yan Jian finally stopped writing and looked up at him.
Feeling smug, he couldn’t help but curl his lips: "Miss Tang gets angry when she sees because she thinks I’m here for you. Actually, Miss Tang is really mistaken, being too self-indulgent. I did not co here for you; I truly ca to buy sothing, nothing more."
As his words fell, Yan Jian grabbed the Shi Inkstone beside her.
She didn’t care about the half-pool of ink already ground in the inkstone, her fingers turning black. The natural brow lines on the Shi Inkstone seed as if they were etched by her nails.
Zan Hua was also frightened and quickly stepped forward to hold her, whispering advice: "Yan Jian, your hands are full of ink, be careful not to stain your good clothes!"
Yan Jian inhaled deeply, raised her head high: "Really? Then have you finished choosing? Since you walked around inside and outside three tis, if you sincerely want to buy, please take the selected goods and check out to leave. The shop is closing, sorry."
Jas raised his left eyebrow high: "Closing? The copper plaque hanging sideways on your door says operating hours are not over yet."
Yan Jian squeezed through her teeth: "... There’s a joyous occasion for the owner, closing early, isn’t it?"
Jas repeated: "A joyous occasion for the owner?"
Yan Jian’s body chilled: "Yes, the temporary owner is . I have a happy event, closing early; is it any of your business?"
Zan Hua carefully stepped beside Jas: "Sir, may I ask which one you have chosen? I will help you check out."
Reluctantly, Jas randomly pointed to a blue-glazed Buddha Head on the shelf: "Just that one."
Zan Hua quickly sweet-talked a complint: "Sir, you have a keen eye. The blue glaze on that Buddha Head is not ordinary chemical glaze; it is made from ancient lapis lazuli ground into powder. Lapis lazuli is the treasure of the dicine Buddha, which can protect your health."
Jas checked out and left, yet Yan Jian was still simring with anger, pointing to the empty shelf and instructing Zan Hua: "Put that ugly old tree root-carved Zhong Kui up there. Yes, the ugliest one!"
.
Jas returned to his residence and casually tossed the Buddha Head aside.
Curiously, after taking a shower and having dinner, he couldn’t help but bring it back and unwrapped the packaging paper.
Buddhist concepts are more manageable for Eastern mindsets to grasp; they originally held little appeal for him. But, the shop in the Middle Ages mostly displayed such items, leaving him no choice. Perhaps he chose it because it was blue, which matched his eyes.
The blue eyes could only see the blue Buddha Head. Perhaps this was also a kind of fate she ntioned.
He held the Buddha Head and looked around, clearing a spot on the shelf, and placed the Buddha Head upon it.
The Buddha’s eyes lowered, showing compassion for the world.
He gazed at it for a while, eventually understanding the aning in its expression and sighed.
Who, in this struggling world, does not bear so inner filth or has not, at tis, yearned for soone’s compassion and redemption?
Thinking this way, he couldn’t help but frown again. These thoughts made him feel small and weak.
He turned away, no longer looking at the Buddha Head, and recalled today’s events.
After reflecting, he couldn’t help but furrow his long brows tightly.
What had he done today? He originally went to that shop intending to repair his relationship with Tang Yan Jian, but in fact, didn’t their relationship beco even more strained?
