Chapter 480: Chapter 297 Global Number One?! _2

Croney glanced at Zheng Ming again, and suddenly an old impression surfaced in his mind, prompting him to smirk and say, “So it’s you, old chap. You’ve caught . Your dream has co true, hasn’t it? You should thank that novelist then.”

Zheng Ming’s mouth twitched again, “I didn’t expect you to co undone here; I indeed should thank that kid.”

Croney fell silent.

His hands were cuffed and pressed against the desk as he looked at Zheng Ming, Shen Qianqian, and Hu Daqiang.

Then he said, “I didn’t expect to fall into that kid’s hands either.”

“Since you’ve fallen, you should cooperate well and strive for leniency,” Zheng Ming said, his gaze intertwining with Croney’s in an interrogative manner.

...

Shen Qianqian and Hu Daqiang’s gaze also rested on him.

Croney laughed.

“What are you laughing at?” asked Zheng Ming.

“You don’t understand , nor do you understand assassins. Lin Chuan personally caught but didn’t ask who my employer was. That’s why you couldn’t catch ,” Croney said, his smile turning into a smirk with a hint of mockery.

It was a mockery of the three before him, who knew nothing about assassins.

Shen, Hu, and Zheng looked at each other, frowning slightly.

Since it wasn’t a very formal interrogation process, just a casual inquiry, Zheng Ming asked, “It seems you’ve reflected and sumd up the reasons for your capture?”

Croney chuckled lightly, “There’s no need to summarize because it’s quite obvious.”

“Let’s hear it then,” Zheng Ming indicated.

Without evasion, Croney said directly, “If it had been any other target, even if that target were you, Detective Zheng Ming, I wouldn’t have faltered, nor would I have been left behind.”

Zheng Ming’s brow tightened imdiately.

Croney spoke with confidence.

They had clashed before, and Zheng Ming indeed hadn’t been able to hold on to Croney.

“So you’re attributing your failure to your opponent being too strong, not to your own shortcomings?” Shen Qianqian was the first to respond.

“Isn’t that the case?” Croney admitted frankly.

“Uh…” Shen Qianqian hesitated, unsure how to reply.

She knew Lin Chuan was strong.

Yet, she had never imagined Lin Chuan was so formidable that even ‘England’s King of Killers’, Croney, was easily subdued and even earned Croney’s recognition of his strength.

The opponent’s praise spoke volus.

Zheng Ming squinted, “Croney, I know you. You’re a proud man who wouldn’t easily consider anyone better than you.”

“But it’s undeniable, he really is very strong,” Croney stated.

“How strong?”

Zheng Ming asked.

Croney furrowed his brow, pondered for a mont, “If I am England’s King of Killers, then he is the King of Killers on a global scale, stronger by two levels than Zeuso, Bosch, Itban, and others.”

The interrogation room imdiately fell silent.

The King of Killers on a global scale?

That is, the world’s number one assassin?

Shen Qianqian quietly drew a sharp breath.

Zheng Ming’s frown deepened, “Why would you describe that young man as ‘the global King of Killers’? As far as I know, he’s a novelist.”

“A novelist?”

Croney was montarily stunned, then shook his head and chuckled self-deprecatingly, “Never thought I’d be defeated by a novelist.”

“You haven’t answered my question yet,” Zheng Ming pressed.

Croney raised his hands, the handcuffs clinking with a crisp sound as the bright, cold light reflected off them.

He scratched his head, “The novelist must be his disguise. His true identity should be that of an assassin, a ‘professional’ assassin with skills perfected in every area.”

Croney deliberately emphasized the word ‘professional.’

Shen Qianqian’s heart skipped a beat.

Professional?

Lin Chuan is indeed an ultimate professional assassin in the book “This Assassin Is Too Professional.”

Firearms, fighting, cri scene cleanup, murder planning, surveillance and counter-surveillance, all were displayed to their extre.

Now, it was coming from the mouth of Croney, a legendary assassin.

The more she cared, the more she couldn’t help but think a little more.

Lin Chuan couldn’t really be a professional assassin, could he?

Zheng Ming frowned, “Are you deliberately trying to divert our attention, wanting us to investigate that young man?”

Croney sneered, “Although I live in a dark world, my thods are not so despicable. I need to keep my information confidential, but regarding him, I’m just genuinely praising him.”

“Croney, you just said, he’s also an assassin?”

Hu Daqiang also frowned, asking.

“Of course, that’s my intuition,” Croney affirmatively stated.

“Judging soone as an assassin just based on intuition?”

Hu Daqiang pressed on.

“Just based on intuition? Officer, you completely don’t understand assassins, nor would you know, the bonds between top assassins—sotis, a re exchange of glances is enough to make a judgnt,” Croney said, his lips curling into a smile.

“Utter nonsense,” Hu Daqiang thought to himself.

Croney continued, “You should be able to access surveillance footage, right?”

Shen Qianqian nodded, “Yes.”

“Do you know why I didn’t destroy the surveillance?” Croney asked with a smile.

All three frowned slightly.

That was indeed a question.

A top assassin striking yet leaving behind surveillance footage should have been a major flaw.

But why didn’t Croney destroy the surveillance?

The three of them didn’t know.

Croney smiled, “Because I observed so of Lin Chuan’s data. He pays attention to nearby surveillance, rembers information about his surroundings, has strong reconnaissance skills. Every ti he enters an elevator, he glances at the surveillance to see if it’s intact. You think, if I had destroyed the surveillance, I probably would have been exposed imdiately.”

“But you were eventually exposed, why?” Zheng Ming asked.

“You need to ask Lin Chuan about that.”

Croney shrugged, indicating he was not sure either.

A simple inquiry.

Croney managed to shift the center of attention from himself onto Lin Chuan.

The three walked out of the interrogation room, their expressions complex, each deep in thought.

Yet, all three coincidentally wanted to see the video of Lin Chuan and Croney in action.

“What’s wrong?”

The surveillance video was recalled by Xia Qingqing.

She was at the computer, repeatedly checking the surveillance, and upon seeing Shen Qianqian and the others entering with weird expressions, she asked.

Shen Qianqian forced a smile, “Croney slandered Lin Chuan as being an assassin too.”

“Ah?”

Xia Qingqing looked puzzled, with a question mark, “How could Lin Chuan possibly be an assassin?”

“That’s why I said it was slander.”

Shen Qianqian smiled.

“Officer Xia, don’t overthink it, it’s all Croney’s own speculation.”

Hu Daqiang also smiled, then pointed at the computer, “Let’s first watch the surveillance.”

“Okay.”

Xia Qingqing nodded.

Imdiately started playing the surveillance video.

The three’s gazes instantly turned towards the surveillance video.
