"Of course, while Li Ou’s Sanctuary is pretty great, Zhang Yanhang values the next spell—Arbitrary Gate—even more. This spell is similar to the Anywhere Door from Doraemon, as both can teleport targets, but it’s a lot less powerful, probably only capable of teleporting a few kiloters."
"Although the teleportation distance is kind of lackluster, Arbitrary Gate has its advantages. For example, you can set the gate to open in a place you’ve never been before, as long as you have a general direction or fuzzy coordinates, it can be used successfully."
"So, this spell is really suitable for sneak attacks, like suddenly opening an Arbitrary Gate inside an enemy’s heavily fortified bastion and breaking through from the inside."
"Suddenly, I feel this spell is quite suitable for terrorist attacks. If I were to open an Arbitrary Gate in the Main World leading to an important building or a specific target, and then directly toss in a few Thermo-baric Bombs, I guess there wouldn’t be many targets that could withstand such an attack."
Zhang Yanhang thought his idea seed a bit risky, but fortunately, he wasn’t so antisocial personality. So, as long as no one deliberately provoked him, he definitely wouldn’t do such a thing.
"Speaking of which, I’ve finally acquired a space-type magic, which is nice. This way, I might save so ti traveling in the future. Well, maybe not by much."
"Without continuously using Arbitrary Gate to teleport, the distance it covers, I can probably run across in about a minute’s ti."
But Arbitrary Gate wasn’t ant for traveling, so Zhang Yanhang didn’t really mind. If he did want to talk about speeding up travel, there were a bunch of teleportation-related spells down the line that could easily cover a few dozen kiloters, those space magic spells were more suitable for saving travel ti.
Next up was the Transformation Technique, and Zhang Yanhang was sowhat surprised to be able to get this spell, because it seed rather useless to him, at least when dealing with monsters from the Ashen World.
"I rember there was a Transformation Skill in the low-cycle magics, First Tier, or Second Ring, which only allowed you to transform into humanoid beings with quite strict limitations on size and shape."
"But this Transformation Technique doesn’t limit the target’s form; you can turn into any race you want. It’s like an upgraded version of the lower-cycle Transformation Skill."
Of course, although it allowed free transformation, there were still so restrictions in terms of size. For instance, it’s no trouble for a grown person to turn into a goat or a crow, but trying to turn into an ant is just wishful thinking.
The size difference is way too large, beyond the capability of the spell, and besides, turning into an ant is risky—you could easily be killed. The Transformation Technique has one more feature compared to the earlier Transformation Skill: it allows you to inherit so of the abilities of the form you take on.
But it also cos with a Weakening of your own abilities, and the smaller the animal, the greater the Weakening.
So if you really turned into an ant, you’d just be a rather strong ant without any significant difference from a regular one—a naughty kid could easily stomp you to death, which is really not safe. Hence, not many people deliberately make themselves very small.
"So, here’s the question. Now that I have this spell, can I simply transform into the victim’s likeness and go play with his wife, wondering if that counts as NTR or not? If not, doesn’t that an Liang Dazhuang is over the moon with joy?"
To be honest, Zhang Yanhang could not think of any serious use for this spell, so he wasn’t particularly fond of the Transformation Technique.
"Oh wait, there is still a serious use for it. For instance, if I ever find myself in dire straits during my retirent, hungry and holess, I could transform into a little kitty or a Little fox and then charm a kind family to take in and care for ."
"But if I develop along that route, I’ll definitely end up like a Golden Finger Grandpa character in the end, so never mind."
Of course, if it’s a beautiful young girl who vows to scoop poop for him with undivided attention for the rest of her life, Zhang Yanhang might reluctantly agree.
But if it were so delusional teenager spouting ’I am the master of my fate’ or ’The wheel turns and tables change, don’t bully the young and poor,’ Zhang Yanhang would likely slap them flat out to prevent them from growing up and potentially causing turmoil, making the lives of ordinary people miserable and further complicating his own retirent.
"The fifth spell is actually another Ray Spell? From the Zero Ring Magic Frost Freeze Beam to the Fourth Tier Magic Gravity Beam, I’ve already gotten five Ray Spells in a row. It seems like I’m being pushed towards the path of a Ray Mage."
If possible, Zhang Yanhang preferred the more mainstream route of the Five Fireball God Sect rather than the niche, odd path of a Ray Mage.
After all, those who follow such a path usually have related talents or bonuses as a Ray Mage, such as an Eye Mage, Three-eyed Mage, Spider Mage, or other kind of Mixed Blood Mage.
But Zhang Yanhang, being a pure Human, had no such Talent bonuses; it was just a bit awkward, and he would need to find himself so relevant Talent bonuses to specialize in Ray Spells.
The effect of the Gravity Beam, as the na suggests, is to project a beam with a gravity effect. If the enemy can’t withstand it, they’ll be crushed flat as a pancake.
Even if they can barely hold up, they beco immobilized and turn into live targets, so it’s a quite powerful Ray Spell.
"But too bad I only have two eyes. If I could grow a few more eyes, I’d be able to cast a Five-color Beam simultaneously. The visual effects would be rather spectacular."
Of course, Zhang Yanhang was just saying it in jest. If he really had to grow five or more eyes, he would definitely not want to, as it’d be too ugly.
"Oh wait, in the past, to gain five eyes one might need the Fukushima nuclear wastewater and other ’delicacies’ from Fukushima, and then add so Tokyo Bay sewage as a catalyst."
"But now, it seems like I don’t need to go through all that trouble. I can simply use the Transformation Technique to give myself five eyes."
Although it was certainly achievable, just thinking about what that would look like made Zhang Yanhang feel disgusted, so in the end, he gave up on this rather audacious idea.
