Chapter 804: Chapter 150: The Dwarf’s Feast_2
And he should also carefully consider when to intervene, to obtain sothing he desires in the Elf Kingdom…
Just then, Ed stood up and raised his glass towards the direction of Titus, loudly proclaiming: “To our honored, great ally of the Gold Dragon—Dawn’s Wing Titus!”
“To Lord Titus!”
“Dawn’s Wing! Dawn’s Wing!”
“The Dragon of Dawn, whose claw flatted the Orcs! The Dragon of Dawn—”
The Dwarves once again shouted together, chanting Titus’s na, even euphorically singing a ballad they had spontaneously created.
In such a festive atmosphere, the ordinarily staid and serious Gold Dragon appeared slightly uncomfortable, but still extended his claw, carefully gripping the wooden barrel taller than the Dwarves, and downed the strong liquor in one gulp.
“I rely did what I ought to have done. To the Dwarves, it is your bravery that has brought peace and victory to Aivendel,” Titus said solemnly.
“Long live Lord Titus!”
“Praise the Gold Dragon!”
Hearing Titus’s praise, the Dwarves responded even more enthusiastically, disregarding the vast difference in size, jumping up to clink glasses with the Gold Dragon.
As the banquet progressed, the Dwarves continuously drank profusely, their faces becoming progressively rosier, with the strong sll of alcohol perating the palace.
These fellows, unconcerned about appearances, celebrated wildly, heartily enjoying the feast, holding hands in circles dancing around the Gold Dragon.
Even so intoxicated Dwarves climbed onto the table, singing and dancing, causing everyone to burst into laughter and uproar, making the silver cups and plates clang and crash to the ground.
“Long live the Gold Dragon!”
“The Dragon of Dawn, you are the savior of Aivendel!”
Titus and Aurora, although affected by the atmosphere, dared not join in—for with their size and strength, a true celebration might topple the palace.
The feast continued until midnight, the Dwarves one by one collapsed in drunken piles, the palace was left in utter disarray, littered with cups and plates.
Sitting at the end of the long table, Ed, uncharacteristically, had not drank much, rely smiling and gazing at the Gold Dragon from afar, then stood up.
“Lord Titus, my subjects must have made you laugh. Now, the palace is too dirty and noisy, not a quiet place, shall we… go out to reminisce?”
The Ancient Gold Dragon seed to understand the implication, gently nodding, then instructed Aurora who was beside him: “Aurora, wait here for a mont, I will return soon.”
Aurora, looking worried, stamred: “Lord Titus, but your injuries…”
Titus stretched out his claw, gently patted the Young Gold Dragon’s head, offering a gentle smile: “Aurora, my injuries aren’t so severe that I would fall over if I step away from you.”
Hearing this, Aurora, looking up at the smiling face of the Ancient Gold Dragon, could only nod and obediently wait where he was.
“Lord Titus, please co with .” Ed stretched out his hand, making a “please” gesture.
The doors of the Royal Palace slowly opened; the Dwarf King walked steadily ahead, followed closely by the Ancient Gold Dragon who, despite being injured and limping, had no difficulty keeping pace with the Dwarf.
They passed through the garden, entering a hidden mine, traveled along a long tunnel, and ultimately arrived in a secret chamber deep in Black Stone Mountain.
Surveying the lifelike Dwarf reliefs around him and looking at the ancient Dwarf language characters, Titus said, “Lord Ed, you didn’t bring here just to reminisce, did you?”
“Of course, I wouldn’t waste your ti.”
Titus folded his wings behind him and crouched down to et the Dwarf’s gaze, then he sighed deeply and said, “Let’s talk then, Lord Ed, for instance… about your body.”
Ed gave a bitter smile, “It seems I can’t hide anything from your eyes, Lord Titus, your mastery of spells remains profound and inscrutable.”
The Dwarf removed the Warhamr from his waist: “This Warhamr is an heirloom of the High Mountain Kingdom. Whenever a Dwarf of the Royal Family dies, he lts himself into this Warhamr, becoming the strength for future generations.
A few months ago, I forcibly fused my body and soul with it, and while I gained trendous strength temporarily, I also paid an irreversible price.”
As ti passes, within three years, my Fla of Life will be drained by it, and I will beco a part of this Warhamr.”
Ed stroked the patterns on it and said softly, “But… you’ve noticed that I’ve used a Secret Technique to reclaim so of the Fla, allowing myself to temporarily regain strength, though my lifespan is now less than a year.”
Titus frowned deeply and asked solemnly, “There are still ways to extend one’s life in this world, why rush to regain strength?”
Ed turned his head, staring intently towards the southwest, “I’ve lived long enough, in my view, it’s far better to die on the battlefield than to linger pitifully on this earth in an undead state.
As for why I’m eager to regain strength… I believe you understand the reason better than I do.”
The Ancient Gold Dragon suddenly stiffened, as if rembering sothing, and his voice trembled slightly, “Do you an… the Ashen Empire?”
Ed nodded gravely, “You should know, the Ashen Empire has completely occupied North Aisier, and the High Mountain Kingdom is to their northeast. The Emperor of the Crimson Dragon could send his army to invade at any ti.
I’ve seen the intelligence brought by the Harpist Alliance, the military strength of the Ashen Empire is too overpowering, if I hadn’t regained my peak condition…”
The Dwarf King lowered his head and gave another bitter smile, “I’m afraid even before that Emperor of the Crimson Dragon makes a move, Aivendel will completely fall.”
Ignoring his injuries, Titus suddenly stood up, clenching his teeth, his voice filled with emotion, “I will help you, I won’t just watch idly as those evil dragons take over Aivendel! I cannot watch my allies get killed by evil dragons again!”
Ed gave the Ancient Gold Dragon a grateful look but shook his head solemnly, saying, “Lord Titus, I formally refuse your help.”
“Why? Am I not your ally?” Titus asked with intense emotion.
“Forgive for being blunt, but you’re too severely injured. You’ve fought valiantly resisting the invasion of the Ashen Empire; you’ve already done enough for our Dwarfs, for this continent.”
“Moreover…” Ed gave a wretched smile before continuing, “this is almost an unwinnable war. A being like you should beco an important force in resisting the invasion, to play a bigger role in the future, not to throw away your life in vain now.”
“But…”
The Ancient Gold Dragon lowered his head, falling into silence. The Dwarf King was not wrong—with his current injuries, he was hardly enough to resist the invasion of the Ashen Empire.
Instead of participating in an unwinnable war, it would be better to make more long-term plans, uniting allies from everywhere, until we possess enough strength to contend with them.
Of course, these thoughts are from the perspective of ‘Titus’; but now, Cassius had perfectly entered into the role, fully imrsing himself in that feeling of being powerless to resist an invasion.
After a long silence, Titus still looked at the Dwarf King and slowly spoke: “Lord Ed.”
In Petersburg, Anna often frequented social occasions where she could see Vronsky. Vronsky was relentless in his pursuit, shadowing Anna closely. When Anna learned that Kitty was gravely ill, asking Vronsky to return to Kitty’s side to seek her forgiveness, regardless, Vronsky poured out his love to Anna. Anna forbade Vronsky from speaking the word ‘love’, saying, “The very reason I dislike that word is because it ans too much”
