Chapter 23 rcenary Guild
The rcenary Guild is a large organization spread across all human regions of the Gaia world, surpassing the scale of civilian organizations such as the Assassin Guild and Warrior Guild.
However, unlike other organizations, among the rcenary Guilds of various countries, besides the consistent systems of rcenary ranking and mission grading, the other managent systems vary. There is no subordination between the rcenary Guilds of various countries; they only pledge allegiance to the rulers of their respective kingdoms.
This is also what every ruler hopes to see because, after all, rcenaries, as a large and powerful group within the borders of a country, would make any ruler uneasy if not under their control.
In the previous life's ga, most players joined the rcenary Guild as their first faction in the early stages. They gained experience, money, and other extraordinary rewards by completing various commissioned tasks.
Today, William's purpose in coming to the rcenary Guild is also simple.
First, it's to attain the last interdiate weapon proficiency required for his "Martial Mastery."
Second, it's to register as a rcenary, complete commissions, and hunt monsters to gain the large amount of experience needed for his own advancent.
Relying solely on ditation to gain experience, breaking through to an interdiate mage before the Annual Holy Festival is not very realistic, especially considering the bottomless pit of skill level upgrades awaiting him. He must find a way to broaden the sources of his experience.
For rcenaries in this world, the purpose of completing commissions is to obtain rewards, but William is different. He has the ga system, which grants him corresponding experience points while completing commissions.
The simplest and most direct source of experience from the ga system is none other than monster hunting!
Completing so commission tasks is just a side benefit.
William is almost unable to contain his desire to hunt monsters with his Kirin Arm!
The rcenary Guild of Canlight City is not in the eastern district of the city, but in the bustling Gedo Street in the west district. After all, most rcenaries are poor people from the lower strata of society. Before becoming extraordinary professionals, they can only sell their strength to complete miscellaneous tasks in the city.
Moving things, cleaning, finding lost pets, and other ordinary commissions are the daily lives of most ordinary rcenaries.
To say that these people are rcenaries is just to say that they are poor souls trying to make a living.
As for important commissions such as guard duty and monster clearance, only extraordinary professionals can handle them.
William rembered that when the ga first started, players rushed through all the tasks of the rcenary Guild like a whirlwind, even accepting tasks like unclogging sewers and moving trash without discrimination.
The players' enthusiasm and efficiency in completing tasks were so high that rumors spread among the rcenaries that there was a group of tireless construct golems disguised as rcenaries.
With their high efficiency and unending working hours, players occupied most of the ordinary rcenaries' tasks at that ti, causing dissatisfaction among many rcenaries who made a living from them and even sparking so minor conflicts.
However, once players accumulated enough experience to beco professionals, such incidents ceased to occur.
After all, when it cos to grinding, grinding monsters and dungeons is obviously more attractive than grinding toilets.
Although William's agility attribute value has not yet been corrected nurically, it far exceeds that of an average person, and he soon arrived at Gedo Street.
Gedo Street is famous for being adjacent to the Gedo River, which passes through the west district of Canlight City, and is the largest gathering place for goods and personnel in the capital.
The rcenary Guild is located at the head of Gedo Street, in the most conspicuous five-story gray building, which is the core of the entire kingdom's rcenary Guild.
Standing in front of the rcenary Guild building, looking at the brown wooden door full of the atmosphere of the years, even though it was approaching evening, many rcenaries dressed in various ways still entered and exited in a continuous stream. William felt the blood of adventure, hardcore grinding, and money-spending boiling up again.
Entering the door of the rcenary Guild, on the right side of the extrely spacious hall is the place where rcenaries rest and communicate.
Returning rcenaries gather here with two or three friends, sitting around round tables, drinking wheat beer, boasting, venting the fatigue of a busy day, or easing the tension that has been tight since fighting monsters.
"Mike, stop boasting. You're the only one who can handle Fangtooth Boars. I bet you'd be scared witless at the sound of them!"
"Yeah, Fangtooth Boars may not be extraordinary monsters, but their strength is even stronger than the weakest magical beast, Shadow Rabbit. Those fangs, tsk tsk, would pierce you right through."
"I heard that Tony's plantation outside the city was destroyed by monsters. They say they're hiring Silver-ranked rcenaries to deal with it. Any of you interested?"
"You guys don't know, when I was adventuring in the Western Great Desert, I chopped a ogre into pieces with just one sword. But the at wasn't very tasty, got stuck in my teeth! Today's goblins are nothing! Small fry!"
Enduring the noisy noise of the rcenaries, William squeezed to the left side of the hall. Here is where the guild posts tasks, accepts commissions, registers and reviews rcenaries.
And there's a bar counter nearby, probably used to collect rcenaries' salaries.
In his past life, William had spent a lot of money here; the gaming experience was just too good. He could drink without getting drunk, giving William, who was a lightweight drinker, a chance to show off.
"Hello, may I ask if you need to upgrade your rcenary level or register as a rcenary?" The bored girl behind the counter imdiately perked up at the sight of William. After all, who doesn't love a handso guy?
"Hello, help register as a rcenary," William nodded and said.
"Na?"
"Moriarty."
"Age?"
"18."
"Occupation?"
"None."
Registering as a rcenary was simple, but William didn't want to reveal his identity as a mage yet. After all, he wanted to learn new weapons, and having the rare identity of a mage among professionals would attract attention.
"Here, this is your identity card. Right now, you're just the lowest level rcenary. Completing commissioned tasks can earn you corresponding rcenary points to raise your rcenary level." The uniford girl handed over a gray card, engraved with William's information in magical patterns, which was extrely difficult to forge.
"You can take on so ordinary tasks that can be completed in the city, or you can team up with others to take on higher-level monster-hunting tasks. However,"
The girl hesitated for a mont before giving her advice:
"It's best not to attempt these risky tasks before becoming a formal professional. Staying alive is the most important thing!"
After all, having worked in the rcenary Guild for so many years, she had seen too many young people register as rcenaries and enthusiastically participate in those dangerous tasks, only to leave behind nothing but a mory.
"Thank you for your advice, I understand," William replied with a smile.
In this world, he didn't know if he could have the resurrection ability like in the previous life's ga, so naturally, he wouldn't charge into danger like those goofy players shouting "Orcs will never be slaves!" or "Demacia!" while rushing into battle like iron-headed kids.
He was still just an unranked rcenary, essentially the sa as most ordinary rcenaries, completing simple but ti-consuming tasks, possibly without ever having the chance to be promoted to a formal rcenary.
Formal rcenaries are ranked from low to high as Bronze, Silver, Gold, Mithril, and Adamantite.
Ranking doesn't correspond directly with the rank of professionals; it solely depends on the level and quantity of tasks completed by the rcenary.
Playing with his freshly acquired rcenary identity card, William asked the uniford girl:
"Um, I also wanted to know, are there any career ntors available in the guild now?"
