The sun blazed overhead, painting the Hokage Monunt in warm light and casting the village below in celebration-colored shadows. The plaza at the center of Konoha buzzed with life, shinobi and civilians, children and elders, all drawn by the rumors that had finally beco truth.
Tsunade stood on the platform, her new white cloak catching the wind. The red symbol for Fire Shadow flared boldly against her back. Her shoulders were square, her chin high, but her hands, hidden by her sleeves, were curled just slightly. Not from fear. Just from the weight of it all.
Behind her stood Jiraiya, Shizune, Tonton, Naruto, bouncing on his heels with barely-contained excitent, and Haji, tall and calm as a stone lantern, his halberd strapped across his back. He stood silently, eyes sweeping across the crowd with quiet detachnt, a sentinel more than a shinobi.
Tsunade stepped forward.
"I'll keep this simple," she said, her voice clear and steady. "I didn't co back to wear a hat or chase a title. I ca back because this village still matters to . Because it deserves soone who's not afraid to fight for it… even from behind a desk."
A quiet ripple passed through the crowd.
"From this day on, I swear to protect this village, not just from enemies outside its walls, but from the mistakes that cost us the people we loved. The Will of Fire isn't just about sacrifice. It's about making sure those sacrifices lead to sothing better."
The applause that followed wasn't thunderous. It wasn't loud. But it was real.
Genuine.
And sohow, that was more powerful.
As the crowd began to disperse, the Hokage and her entourage returned to the tower.
The office was already a storm of paperwork, scrolls stacked high, seals half-faded from age, request forms for everything from ANBU rotations to petty disputes over fence borders.
Tsunade dropped into the chair with a tired sigh. "I thought being Hokage was all hero speeches and life-or-death decisions. Not…"she picked up a scroll"...approving ninja cats for parcel delivery."
"Better cats than another war," Haji offered dryly.
She chuckled. "Don't tempt fate. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Konoha got in a turf war with the cats."
He stood beside the desk, already scanning through stacks. "You weren't kidding. The Third didn't delegate anything."
"Old monkey was a control freak," Tsunade muttered. "Even hunting dogs needed his stamp. It's like he didn't trust anyone else to make a decision."
"I noticed." Haji sorted another pile with casual efficiency. "The system's bloated. You can't run a village like this. Too much weight on one pair of shoulders, no matter how strong."
She raised an eyebrow. "You say that like you've done it before."
"Let's say… I've seen how not to run things," he said with a small smile. "Delegating doesn't an weakness. It ans building sothing that lasts beyond you."
Tsunade leaned back and folded her arms. "Alright, big guy. Who do I trust, then?"
"Nara Shikaku. Smart. Precise. Let him handle civilian logistics and D-rank mission sorting. Let the clans manage non-critical matters. It frees you up for what actually matters."
She whistled softly. "You've really thought this through, how did you even knew him."
"So people read books to relax," Haji said, amused. "I study broken systems."
Shizune peeked in with tea. "He's not joking. He sorted half the clinic's dical archive for fun."
"Remind never to play shogi with you," Tsunade said.
"I'd lose. Nara's better."
He placed a few sealed scrolls gently on the desk. "That reminds . I'd like to request a lab."
Shizune blinked. "A lab?"
"Private. Underground if possible. I need sowhere clean, sterile, and out of the way."
Tsunade narrowed her eyes. "For what exactly?"
"dical developnt. Synthetic organs, chakra regulation tools, surgical augntations… maybe so long-term healing tech Konoha hasn't seen before. Think of it as investing in the future."
"And in return?"
"These," Haji said, unrolling one of the scrolls.
Tsunade and Shizune leaned in.
Inside were handwritten jutsu formulas, originals.
"Water Blade," Haji explained. "Surgical precision or high-pressure combat stream. Chakra efficient."
He opened the next.
"Yang tabolism Pulse. Speeds healing, nutrient absorption. Great for wounded shinobi or ergency recovery."
Another.
"Earth Compression Field. Supports underground areas and structures. Useful in collapses, tunnels, or missions near cliffs."
The final one caught Tsunade's eye.
"Rapid Fla Purge," she read. "That's a sterilization burst. You made a chakra-based flathrower for hospitals?"
"Or battlefields," Haji said. "Double use."
Tsunade stared at him for a long mont. "You made all of these yourself?"
"Adapted from principles I learned from others. Applied with a different perspective."
"And you're giving them to the village?"
"Call it my entry fee."
Shizune was already scribbling calculations. "These could fund a whole wing of the hospital."
"That's the idea," Haji said. "Use the money. Build better care. And I get a place to work."
Tsunade shook her head, a smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. "You're a strange kid."
"I get that a lot."
She picked up one of the scrolls again. "Alright. I'll authorize it. Discreetly. You'll get your lab."
He nodded once. "Thank you."
As he turned to leave, she added, "You know, for soone so serious, you're surprisingly good at helping people."
He paused. "Maybe because I've seen what happens when people don't get help."
Tsunade watched him go, her smile fading to sothing quieter.
Outside the tower, Konoha bustled like it always had, but sothing was different now. A new Hokage stood at its helm.
