The slow and steady beeping sounded as though it was getting closer with each passing second. It was a noise that should not have been there yet sounded so real that it couldn't have been a mistake at the sa ti.
The heavy fog of sleep was making it hard to determine where the noise was coming from. Regardless, the noise continued as though there was nothing that was going to be able to stop.
The beeping also ca with the sound of voices in the background, muffled but rather urgent? Distressed sounding? It was hard to make up. They weren't familiar voices though, that much was certain.
Trying to move proved to be useless as an attempt to open eyes was made. They felt like they had been taped shut with the heaviest of sticky tape that refused to budge. This only increased the level of annoyance that was felt.
Sohow, it felt like all day had been filled with things not going right and the inability to do was one pleased. Things weren't working out in the way that they were supposed to at all.
"You know that for the current mont in ti I have given you the best information that I have available. You can keep asking for updates as much as you like, but there's going to be nothing new that I can tell." The nurse was beginning to get annoyed by the barrage of questions.
The n standing in front of her were rather insistent about getting more out of her than she honestly knew.
"Isn't there any way that we could get a chance to speak with the doctor about this? We need a suitable update beyond words like stable for now and it will take ti to tell." The nurse had to refrain from biting her bottom lip out of frustration.
The two won were blocking the door which ant that it was impossible for her to walk away from them unless they moved out of her way.
"I told you that the doctor is dealing with the other patients right now. I do understand how stressed out you are by all of this, but there isn't much else to be doing except for waiting." She repeated.
"Now, if you could please let get past, there are other patients that I need to be attending to right now. I will make sure that when the doctor finishes, he cos in to talk with you again." The nurse assured the two won who didn't quite seem satisfied with her answer but allowed for her to pass anyways.
"Well, it doesn't seem like we are going to have any good answers by the ti that she wakes up now does it?" Roo sighed He had thought for certain that the doctor would have been able to provide them information beyond the fact that for now his boss was stable.
There was no way that Lena was going to take that answer well. Well... She probably wasn't going to take the fact that her father was in the hospital well period. Perhaps not even the fact that they had moved her there while she was still asleep.
"There is still so ti before she's likely to wake up, we might know by then if the doctor cos back." Samuel replied trying to keep things optimistic. Roo only nodded his head.
"What about everyone else, should we take the chance to go and see them?" Samuel suggested.
Clive's wife had co to visit him and see how he was doing and Samuel knew that his cousin and Leo were in one of the other rooms. Not much in the way of updates had been given in regards to how they were doing.
"You can if you want, I think that it would be better if I stayed here for a while longer." Roo replied as he glanced over at the bed.
It wasn't a position that he enjoyed seeing his boss in with so many different tubes and wires hooked up to him and no promise of when exactly the mafia boss might wake up.
They had done the best that they could considering the situation. It hadn't been determined yet though if that best they could was good enough.
Zane usually had a rather pale complex. At the current mont though, his skin was almost as white as now due to the amount of blood that he had lost. They had been inford that if the ambulance had been much later than it was that the mafia boss might have suffered serious consequences in regards to the amount of blood that he lost.
Roo wasn't much of the emotional or sentintal type, it was one of the reasons why he had never bothered finding himself soone to be with up until now. He was married to the work that he did for Zane and the rest of the Red Scorpion group.
Still, the tall, burly man had a soft spot for Zane after working for her for so many years. There was little that he wouldn't have done for the other man if he asked much like Clive.
Seeing the mafia boss in his current position was not sothing that soone like Roo would have expected to have seen during his lifeti. Zane was far too stubborn and strong to allow for anything to keep him down for an extended period of ti.
He was also always far too cautious to get in the reach of danger unless it was to protect his family. He had other people to do that for him now that there was more than just himself that he needed to be thinking about.
Taking his eyes off the mafia boss who wasn't stirring even an inch despite the consistent dull, flat beeping sounded, he turned his attention back over to Lena who was laying on the other bed still asleep.
He still wasn't sure that they had made the right choice by bringing her there while she was still asleep. Samuel seed to think that it would have been better since she would at least be able to see her father when she woke up.
Was it though? Roo wasn't so sure. He was perhaps one of the few people aside from her own family, Clive, and Hester who knew about the way that she reacted to hospitals after what had happened when she was younger.
Unexpectedly waking up there and then seeing her father in the current position that he was might have been exactly what she didn't need at the current mont in ti.
