Yu Qian forced his eyes open and saw a comrade rushing towards the car door, attempting several tis to pull it open but failing each ti.

Imdiately after, the comrade drew a dagger from his waist and slashed down hard. Accompanied by a spray of blood, a thick tentacle twitched and withdrew, and the car door sprang open as a result.

Yu Qian was helped out of the car by the newcor, his right hand still clutching the 191 rifle with only one magazine left.

Not far ahead, several Water Ghosts who had climbed out of the water were firing roughly crafted weapons at the beleaguered squad, and behind them, a grotesque monster was erging from the marsh beside the lake, using its tentacles to drag the Warrior vehicle into the swamp.

Having expended all its ammunition, the Warrior activated its onboard laser anti-missile system, depleting its last energy reserves to try and burn away the creature’s tentacles.

But it was destined to be of no avail.

The vehicle was already deeply mired in the swamp, and the squad had lost its last cover.

"Cover the squad leader!"

"Hurry!"

Bullets flew over Yu Qian’s head.

He raised the rifle single-handedly and fired at the blurry figures in front.

"Bang bang bang bang---"

The lurking Water Ghosts dropped instantly, the recoil sending the rifle out of Yu Qian’s hand. Instinctively, he shrugged off the comrade supporting him and dove to the ground, retrieving his rifle.

Then, he rolled prone, aiming at a more distant Terror Demon.

"Hurry up, you guys, get out of here!"

"I’ll cover you!"

Yu Qian shouted with all his might.

He knew he wouldn’t be able to get away.

After dragging the Warrior vehicle into the swamp, that monster had already slithered out and was pursuing with a speed that wasn’t fast, but certainly impossible for him to evade.

"Take the squad leader away!"

Liu Qi shouted back over his shoulder.

"Don’t give a damn about ! That’s an order!"

Yu Qian coughed up a mouthful of blood, then pulled the trigger, firing off the last round in the chamber.

"Bang bang bang bang----"

"Click."

Smoke rose from the muzzle of the gun.

Yu Qian finally let go of the rifle in his hand.

He rolled over, lying on his back on the ground.

The creature behind had already lood over him.

Its twisted, disgusting body was right in front of him.

"Damn it, it’s disgusting..."

Yu Qian pulled a grenade from his pocket, gripping the pull ring, and yanked it open.

There was no ti left.

But it was worth it.

Yu Qian closed his eyes, quietly awaiting the final end.
