Chapter 46: Chapter 45: Apocalypse Road Rage?
Paused montarily at Carriage No. 2.
The river crabs on Wan Xing’s chopping board had turned into the skull crusher in Butcher’s hand. At this mont, she was sawing the bone club from the skull crusher’s hand with an electric saw.
The buzzing sound splattered fine flesh and blood, and soon, a hamr fell off.
She put away the saw, lifted the blood-stained mask, and smiled at Su Huan.
But no matter how you look at it, her smile was creepy.
This girl’s art style seed to be developing in a stranger and stranger direction.
However, this was the everyday life of scavengers. They had to deal with bizarre corpses daily—zombies, plants, Evolution Beasts, and perhaps Evolvers in the future.
There was no need to rush their career planning for now; neither had even reached Tier One.
Su Huan moved towards the corner where a silver motorcycle rested, like a crouching tallic beast.
It hadn’t been used since it was repaired.
Just in ti, he planned to go out alone today, and this H2 was the perfect mode of transportation.
The supercharger’s roar mixed with the four-cylinder engine echoed in the carriage. The idling body trembled slightly, and Su Huan felt as if he’d forgotten sothing.
Forgot sothing?
He quickly checked, appearing to talk to himself.
"Carrying items: 1 Tier One Pan-energy Crystal, 3 Ordinary Pan-energy Crystals, Logbook"
"Mission objective: Retrieve firearms from the fire truck."
"Traveler: Su Huan."
Anything else?
No more.
Then it’s all okay.
He gave Wan Xing a thumbs-up. She then lowered the plank on the side of the tour carriage.
Accompanied by the slow descent of the hydraulic support, a silver beast roared out.
It raced past the bustling crowd, heading straight for the gap in the fence.
...
Huang Sea pushed up his glasses, rubbed the greasy sweat off his nose, and glanced at the triple-eye quartz watch on his left wrist. The date had already flipped to 21.
He had been pathetically surviving in this small supermarket for two weeks.
As a highly qualified talent, Huang Sea knew he was beyond saving.
Or, expecting soone to rescue him was impossible.
He curled up in a triangular zone made of toy shelves and adult diapers, wrapping himself in these soft things for so sense of security.
The tin can at the stairway suddenly clattered.
Huang Sea’s heart lurched.
"It’s the wind," murmured the young man hiding behind the cash register.
He was carving a mop stick with a utility knife, wood shavings falling like snowflakes onto the "Welco" mat.
Besides them, there were two other n in the supermarket—shoppers who got trapped there since the apocalypse.
"If we keep this up, we’re going to die sooner or later." Huang Sea licked his cracked lips, tasting iron rust.
He took another sip of the bottled mineral water beside him.
Luckily, he hid in a supermarket; with the resources here, he still lived comfortably.
But it was like a dog trapped in a cage, unsure when the owner would return, watching day-night cycles, sliding toward despair.
The young man didn’t respond.
In those ten odd days, they’d talked about so many things, from hotowns and professions to life philosophy, the universe and even how they might die thoroughly.
In the end, they had nothing more to say.
Huang Sea looked toward the nailed window crack. A dandelion was swaying.
When he personally nailed the last plank over a dozen days ago, it was just a green shoot in the concrete crack. Now, its fluff had been dyed golden by sunlight.
He wanted to say sothing, but the boy suddenly raised the sharpened stick.
"Shh..."
A sticky, watery footstep sound ca from downstairs.
Huang Sea gripped the fire axe beside him, glancing at the shelf where the gold foil chocolate trembled slightly, ribbon knotted amidst dust specks with a matte glow.
The young man shot him a look, ’That zombie’s back.’
Huang Sea retreated into the diapers. The second floor was barricaded with a tal door that the zombies couldn’t open.
"Bang—"
The violent noise and tal twisting made Huang Sea startle.
He yanked the diaper off his face, bloodshot eyes looking toward the iron door.
There was a gigantic bulge on it.
Soone or sothing massive had crashed into it.
"Bang!"
An explosive noise shook the white dust off around the door fra.
The sound startled the four people inside the supermarket.
The other two retreated further into the supermarket racks, leaving Huang Sea and the young man by the counter.
Huang Sea hurried towards the young man, unsure if their noise had alard the monster outside, making the crashes more frequent and intense.
The flimsy tal door slowly deford under the assault. Huang Sea peered around the counter towards the tal door’s edge.
Behind the bending door, a large patch of iron-grey skin appeared, a giant-like sturdy foot stomped onto the iron door.
A zombie’s head squeezed through the bent gap, crimson eyes locking onto Huang Sea’s.
"Roar!"
Huang Sea’s oily, wax-yellowed complexion instantly went ashen.
The next mont, a steel signboard crushed the head directly.
The blood-stained letters of "Yunan Road" jamd onto the tal door.
Butcher pulled it out roughly, yanked away the ordinary zombie underfoot, and bent down to peer through the door gap, a sinister grin on his plump face.
Huang Sea covered his mouth, body slowly slipping behind the counter.
Facial muscles paralyzed by fear, features scattered.
"Boom!"
The tal door got completely kicked open, toppling several shelves.
Butcher’s towering 2.5-ter fra wedged into the tiny supermarket.
His heavy breathing like sonic waves crashed against walls, echoing back layer upon layer.
Huang Sea hardly knew why his damned heart still beat.
If only he’d have a heart attack to spare himself.
Now his only solace was the young man beside him, equally pale-faced.
At least, on the road to the underworld, he’d have a companion.
Lost in thoughts, Huang Sea suddenly heard strange sounds.
Like the motorbike revs that woke him up late at night before.
From afar, nearing fast, a noise he once cursed to crash, blasted madly.
"Roar—"
The sound closed in, bringing uncontrollable joy to Huang Sea’s face. The once-hated sound now so dear, he felt like kissing the rider hard.
Never mind that it’d be the fire-mopped punk he despised.
But a doubt imdiately arose.
The world had ended. Who was so brazen, riding a bike madly on the roads?
Su Huan, driving dangerously, felt an itch in his nostrils.
Yet the excitent in his eyes was hard to suppress.
Initially hesitant, since shaking off six Night Demons and outrunning two Blood Hounds, he had quite fallen in love with this ’wild horse’ beneath him.
