Olivia froze, completely dumbfounded. She knew that there was sothing strange about him. If not, what is a new transfer student doing here?
’I will see what he is up to,’ her feet began to walk towards his direction.
"Where are you going? We have to leave now!" Abigail held her arm, yelling with a hushed voice.
"I won’t take long, just five minutes, please," she pulled her hand. Her eyes flickered to where Lucian was.
Before Abigail could say anything, Olivia had already disappeared. Abigail facepald herself. "Why the hell did I even bring her here? She is too much trouble. She never listens," she groaned, she felt like slamming her head into the wall.
anwhile, as Olivia walked closer to him, he suddenly turned his back at her. She hastened her steps. She turned him around, only to her dismay, it wasn’t Lucian, but a total stranger.
"I’m sorry," she muttered under her breath.
She carefully scanned her surroundings. She saw a glimpse of him taking a sharp turn. She imdiately began to follow him.
As she got closer to him, her heart pounded in her head. She hid herself behind the sharp corner of the wall. When she peeked her head out, she saw him talking with a stranger.
"What do you an, you are going to handle it? I thought we had a deal?" Lucian’s voice rang in the dark humid air.
"Yes, that was our agreent, but you are not holding to the end of your bargain. Rember, I’m only doing this for your own good." The stranger’s hand clenched. "You almost died because of her. I can’t afford to put you in danger again."
"If I die because of her, I won’t regret it. This is my decision. She had saved before. I won’t betray her trust in ," Lucian replied with gritted teeth.
"You are only saying this because you have no mories of your origin. When you rember, then you will realize that she is nothing but a vessel, a step for your glory... You must not let it enter your heart..."
"Stop! Don’t say that about her," Lucian growled, his eyes burning gold.
"You don’t have much ti, Lucian. They are already looking for you. If they find out that you are here in their territory, you are as good as dead. You know the risks, but you choose to co here because of her. This is so unlike you." The stranger’s face scrunched up in disappointnt and disbelief.
"I’ll be careful."
The stranger nearly scoffed. "Just so you know, Klaus Reyes is already digging into you. And the people are still stalking her, so avoid any contact with her."
Lucian’s golden eyes changed to their normal grey shades. He inhaled deeply. "Let’s hurry with the plan. Once we can find evidence that Survivor’s Academy collides with monsters, we can finally bring them down."
"I’ll work on that. As for her..." A sound interrupted the stranger’s words. Their heads imdiately snapped towards the sharp corner wall.
The stranger rushed to see who was eavesdropping on them, but when he got there, there was no trace of anyone. His brows furrowed.
Lucian gazed at where Olivia was standing earlier. A smirk ford on his lips. He imdiately knew she was there, as her scent invaded his nostrils.
Olivia had been eavesdropping on their conversation. She lost her footing when she heard them talk about the academy’s secret. She imdiately turned around, running away from the scene. She had already exposed her position.
As Olivia blended with the crowd, her vision blurred, her thoughts banging at the back of her mind. The secret about Alexa, Lucian’s hidden agenda—neither of them made any sense to her. But why was she caught up in all of this? Does this have anything to do with her system? Her useless system?
’Who is "her"? What does Lucian gain from exposing the school’s ties to the monsters? Why would he risk everything to be here? For ? For soone else? None of this made sense...’ She couldn’t piece the puzzle together, no matter how hard she tried.
She continued walking mindlessly through the crowd, forgetting about Abigail who was waiting for her.
As she continued walking, soone suddenly blocked her path. She tried to take the other side, but he also blocked her again.
She lifted her head, fury in her tongue, until she saw him. The words died instantly, frozen mid thought.
The hair on her body stood up on their ends. Blood drained from her face. Her hands trembled, fingers twitching like they didn’t know whether to fight or flee.
She forced a shaky smile on her face, but it quickly disappeared as she was overwheld by his presence. "Ga... Gauss," she called out, her voice shaky like a leaf before a wind.
Her eyes darted around, searching for Abigail, but she found no trace of her. She returned her attention to him.
"I’ve always wanted to chat with you, but now you are here right in front of ," Gauss smiled, his big brown teeth coming into view.
Olivia stopped the urge of saying eww. "Why do you want to chat with ?" she nervously asked, her hand clutching to her cloak.
"Don’t be nervous. Why don’t you serve a drink, then we can continue this wonderful conversation," he gripped Olivia’s hand, pulling her along as he headed to a secluded room.
Olivia tried to pull her hand out of his grip, but no matter what she did, it was like she was cuffed by ironclad hands.
Sobs clawed at her throat. Her vision blurred with fear. She had no idea what he was going to do with her. ’What if he wants to hurt ?... What if I disappear and no one knows?’ Her eyes widened at the thought.
Her nails dug into his skin, her fist pounding in desperation. Still, his grip didn’t loosen. Her panic choked her, louder than her sobs. When she saw how useless her attempt was, she began to reach for anything she could hold onto.
