Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies Chapter 73: Inside Bunker
As Elena and Ethan entered the bunker, they were enveloped by a heavy, secure atmosphere.
The entrance featured a thick steel door that was bolted and equipped with a glowing keypad.
Inside, they discovered several essential areas, such as the surveillance room displaying live cara feeds, a water storage room filled with clean tanks, an electrical room managing the power systems, and a cozy, relaxing living area—all ticulously designed for safety and readiness.
’This bunker is way too secure. If I didn’t have a way to escape, I definitely wouldn’t co here.’
The layout was straightforward, featuring interconnected rooms that flowed seamlessly from one to another.
As they ventured deeper into the bunker, Elena couldn’t help but notice that it was fully equipped with high-quality gear intended for long-term stay.
’Then why doesn’t the governnt in City B use it effectively to deter this gang and wait for backup from other cities?’
She wondered, scrutinizing the sturdy structure around her.
’This bunker is incredible. I need to find one like this to prepare for when the world is shrouded in toxic mist. Sigh! The air filtration system here is truly impressive.’
They continued walking for a few minutes, accompanied by Baldie, whose swagger revealed his enjoynt of authority.
They passed through a series of heavy entrances and narrow hallways before finally reaching the area to the bunker’s inventory section.
"You’re new, right? You’d better listen to ; I can get you plenty of food and won here," Baldie said to Ethan, trying to recruit him to his side.
Elena, overhearing this, felt a surge of anger at the gang’s nonsense.
’You want to give a woman to my man? Over my dead body!’
"Eh, team leader, for now, I just want enough food to eat. By the way, how many people are in this bunker? I noticed no one is guarding the inventory section," Ethan said, evading the question while glancing at his wife, who shot him a nacing glare.
’Wife! I didn’t agree! You are more than enough for . You are my world, my everything!’
"There are plenty of surveillance caras around here. The people monitoring them ensure that no one tries anything suspicious. Only gang mbers like us are allowed in this area," Baldie replied proudly.
Ethan nodded, continuing to assess the surroundings.
"Who is the leader in this bunker, team leader?"
"I don’t know, but they say he’s wealthy. Let’s not talk about this anymore; no one is allowed to discuss the leader."
"Okay, team leader."
"Just rember to behave yourself and follow my orders," Baldie warned.
Ethan continued talking to Baldie, who proudly shared details about the bunker. He aid to gather information about the inventory sector, and this fool was more than willing to share everything.
Eventually, he learned from Baldie that there were guards stationed at the door, along with surveillance caras monitoring the area.
This revelation made him think of a way to get the goods into space without alerting the gang, ensuring that when they left later, they wouldn’t suspect anything was wrong.
He imdiately contacted Elena, using the ergency trigger to create a plan. Upon receiving the ergency alert, Elena used her [Telepathy] skills.
"Husband?"
"Wife, there’s a surveillance cara in the inventory section, and two n are guarding the door to the inventory room," Ethan inford her.
"You an outside the inventory room, right? According to Baldie, there is no surveillance cara inside," Elena pointed out.
"Yeah, they probably didn’t install CCTV inside the inventory room because they’re afraid of being seen taking goods for themselves," Ethan said, concluding.
"This setup really works in our favor. We can lure these two n into the inventory room and kill them," Elena suggested.
"No, we can’t kill them yet; we must get their information first about the ergency exit door inside the inventory room. We’ll also make them our scapegoats," Ethan replied.
"Scapegoat?" Elena asked, confused.
"Yes, we’ll make the boss think that the two n are our accomplices who have secretly stolen items from the inventory for days. When the other gang mbers realize the items are missing and discover that these two n are also gone, they will definitely assu those n used the ergency exit to steal everything. This way, they won’t suspect that the items simply vanished, making it harder for them to guess that we took them into space, which will keep us safe from suspicion," Ethan explained.
’It’s better to be safe than sorry. His wife’s safety is a must.’
"Oh, good idea, husband! Poor them; they’ll take the bla. Hahaha," Elena scoffed.
’I almost forgot that this isn’t the age of ability users, where using abilities was pretty normal. I have to be careful not to raise any suspicion until the awakening begins.’
"We also need to make sure one of us can enter the inventory room," Ethan added.
"Okay, husband."
After a few minutes, they arrived at the inventory door, which was guarded by two burly n with nurous scars on their faces.
"Who are these?" one of the guards asked.
"Boss guards, they’re the ones who retrieved the last batch of supplies from the warehouse. The security captain instructed to let them in to organize the items," Baldie said.
In truth, he was lying; that was supposed to be his job, but he was feeling lazy, and this new recruit was easy to bully. He wanted Ethan and Elena to take over his responsibilities.
"Hmph, as long as you know what you’re doing! Go inside now," one of the guards grunted.
After hearing Baldie’s words, Elena and Ethan felt elated; he had truly helped them today by allowing them to enter the inventory without creating an alibi.
’Haha, now the plan is moving along nicely’
They imdiately entered the inventory room and began organizing the items while waiting for Baldie to finish transferring everything they had brought from the warehouse.
As they surveyed the items inside, they gasped. There were countless cigarettes, both expensive and common, along with a vast selection of vintage alcohol.
In addition to that, nurous shelves were filled with dried foods, canned goods, boxes of snacks, bags of rice, jars of sauces, crates of fruits, stacks of pasta, bottles of spices, and even bulk items like flour and sugar. The sheer variety made it clear that this warehouse was exceptionally well-stocked.
"You better do your job right, or you’ll regret it," Baldie warned them as he left the room, heading to the living area for a drink.
Elena and Ethan exchanged glances, both ready to execute their plan.
