"What happened here?" Elena asked, scanning the chaotic scene unfolding around her.

Explosions and gunfire echoed across the battlefield as soldiers fought off waves of mutated creatures that had suddenly appeared.

There were far too many—mutated beasts, and even mutated pests sward from in every direction.

Giant rats and cockroaches, each the size of a cub, charged forward without fear.

Luckily, the mutated beasts were weak enough to be taken down with gunfire, allowing the soldiers to hold their ground despite the relentless assault.

For the swarming mutated pests, the soldiers unleashed a nonstop barrage of missiles and machine-gun, determined not to let them get any closer.

Swosh! Swosh! Bang! Bang!

Elena frowned, troubled by their overwhelming numbers.

’Why are so many mutated beasts showing up all of a sudden? Is this still part of heaven’s cleansing—to rid the world of the unworthy?’

After a few seconds, Elena finally realized who might be behind this ss—it was likely the dead mutated cat.

Seeing her return, Ethan let out a sigh of relief.

"After the mutated cat vanished, these beasts showed up and started rampaging. Thankfully, they’re much easier to deal with."

As he spoke, he pulled out a sniper rifle and calmly took aim, firing a precise shot at a nearby mutated beast.

His quick action helped lighten the burden on General Kaiser’s soldiers, especially against those creatures attacking from blind spots.

Elena was impressed by his sharp shooting and replied.

"It’s probably because the mutated cat’s dominating aura is gone. Without it, these weaker beasts now think they can take over this area along with the mutated pests. Think about it—we haven’t seen this many mutated creatures in months. That might be because the mutated cat had claid this territory, keeping the rest suppressed. Now that it’s gone, they all ca out at once. That’s why there are so many."

"I see," Ethan nodded, then paused to check his wife’s condition—making sure she wasn’t hurt or feeling any discomfort.

To him, the mutated beasts didn’t matter—his wife’s well-being ca first.

Once he was sure she was alright, he continued, "By the way, did you manage to take down the mutated cat?"

"Yes. It’s inside the Paradise now," Elena replied, then began to explain how she had finished it off.

"That’s good to hear. I just hope we don’t have to deal with another Tier 1; it’s such a hassle," he said.

Elena nodded in agreent, silently wishing it would be that simple.

She then checked on her team using group [Telepathy], asking about their situation and reminding them that safety ca first.

They could help—but never at the cost of their own safety.

Once she confird they were safe, she quickly gathered her equipnt and joined the battle against the remaining mutated creatures.

While they were busy, General Reid, on the other hand, held the comms and contacted each side for updates.

"Has anyone seen the mutated cat?"

"Nope," the teams responded one after another.

"It vanished... and now these mutated pests might have shown up as backup."

The leaders fell silent, unaware that Elena had already taken care of the mutated cat.

They were still thinking that if it didn’t reappear, it ant their mission had failed.

"Could it really command these pests? And why are there so many of them here now?"

"Don’t ask us—we don’t know either. Let’s regroup in one area. If this keeps up, we might run out of ammunition and explosives before we can wipe them out."

Everyone agreed and slowly began regrouping.

General Reid then switched off the governnt channel and used the comms to contact the military post on the western side.

"General Kaiser, how are things on your end?"

"General Reid, we’re holding on, but so soldiers have been bitten by these poisonous pests. By the way, the Paradise Ointnt works well on the poison—have your people use it."

"Alright, I’ll inform them. Be careful, and let’s regroup slowly."

"Roger that.

On the governnt side, Dr. Cee was growing irritated as he watched wave after wave of mutated pests charge in.

His earlier excitent had turned into pure frustration—the mutated cat had vanished without a trace, leaving not even a single sample behind.

He was desperate to study its body and blood.

And according to Troy, the mutated cat might have possessed a power source that fueled its extraordinary abilities.

So, Dr. Cee craved the chance to examine it, believing it could lead to a major breakthrough.

But alas, the mutated cat had simply vanished.

He furiously grabbed his hair in frustration, his eyes glaring at the useless, lifeless bodies of the fallen mutated creatures around them.

However, his thoughts were quickly interrupted when an officer rushed over, panting heavily and staring at him with desperation in his eyes.

"Sir, many officers have been bitten by these mutated pests. If we don’t give them dicine soon, I’m afraid they might die," an officer reported, hoping for a solution.

They had plenty of ammunition and explosives, but the pests were sneaky. They still managed to slip through and bite the soldiers, causing intense pain.

"Then how did you usually handle these bites before?" Dr. Cee asked, assuming they already had ways to neutralize the poison, since they’d been battling mutated pests for a while now.

If they were hoping for a cure from him, they were asking the wrong person.

He was a researcher—he worked on dissecting mutated creatures, not making antidotes.

Hearing his response, the officer was stunned for a mont but quickly explained, "We usually use the Paradise Ointnt. But according to the dical bay, we’ve already run out. We haven’t been able to restock from the Paradise Shop—they said they’re currently out of supplies."

"The Paradise Shop has dicine that works on these poisonous rats?" Dr. Cee asked, eyes lighting up with renewed interest.

"Yes, sir. They sell a lot of dicines in their shop, not just basic supplies," the officer answered, clearly impressed.

Even though many high-ranking officials had spoken badly about the Paradise Shop—calling them greedy and selfish—he chose not to join in their mockery.

Instead, he felt genuinely grateful to the shop.

After all, they had opened their doors to the public and provided vital supplies when people needed them most.

"Then what are you waiting for? Go buy so—maybe they’ve restocked by now," Dr. Cee said eagerly.

Truthfully, he didn’t care about the officers bitten by the mutated rats. What he really wanted was that all-in-one cure the officer ntioned.

Noticing the greed in his eyes, Lieutenant Fern was stunned.

He sighed deeply, wondering if trusting the military instead of the governnt might be a wiser choice.

With leaders like Dr. Cee, it just didn’t seem worth it. They acted too entitled, as if everyone existed to serve them.

Shaking off his thoughts, he replied, "I’ll contact them right away. May I use the walkie-talkie, sir?"

He spoke urgently, wanting to secure dicine for his n and check on the southern side, worried about his commanding officer.

Dr. Cee gave a casual nod and walked over to Troy, eager to talk about the mutated creatures, completely unfazed by the wave of pests.

Gunfire and explosions still echoed around them as the soldiers continued battling the swarming mutated creatures.

Soon, the comms rang on General Kaiser’s side—Lieutenant Fern was requesting to speak with the Paradise Shop.

"This is the Eastern Assault Team," the voice ca through.

"We’re running low on Paradise Ointnt. Can you pass the comms to soone from the Paradise Shop staff, General Kaiser?"

"Hold on," General Kaiser replied.

He then walked over to Elena and relayed the request, handing her the device.

Elena rolled her eyes. She wasn’t exactly fond of the governnt.

Still, she was willing to hear what they had to say.

"Hello, this is the Paradise Shop. How can I help you, comrade?" Elena said politely, her tone calm and professional—like a seasoned businesswoman.

Hearing his wife speak in such a formal, almost fake manner, Ethan chuckled softly before turning his attention back to shooting at the approaching mutated pests.

"Comrade from the Paradise Shop, we’d like to buy so Paradise Ointnt. Many officers on our side have been bitten by poisonous pests," the voice on the other end said.

"Sure," Elena replied, "but the problem now is transport. With mutated beasts and pests everywhere, my team can’t safely reach your side."

Silence followed, as if the caller was trying to co up with a solution.

Tired of waiting, Elena spoke again.

"Alright, we’ll deliver the items to your side—but be ready with a substantial paynt. Jades, antiques, or if you don’t have those as of the mont, a promissory note signed by your higher-ups will do."

Her voice was firm, clearly not afraid of being double-crossed.

If they tried to deny the agreent later, she would cut off all ties with them—and she knew they couldn’t afford that kind of fallout.

Aside from the items she could gain, she had another goal in mind: she wanted to see Dr. Cee and Troy face to face—to pay them a little visit.

A sly smirk tugged at her lips as she thought about it.
