Chen Pingchuan’s brow furrowed slightly, and a cold glint, sharp as a blade, flashed across his once-calm eyes. His gaze was a burning torch fixed on the blue-armored figure before him as he squeezed a few words through his clenched teeth.
So this is the disgusting thing that so repulsed this body’s previous owner. It really does deserve to die!
With that thought, he raised his hand without hesitation. He pointed at the Blue Demon and commanded in a tone that brooked no argunt, "Sand Beast, destroy it!"
Upon hearing Chen Pingchuan’s brief yet powerful order, the Blue Demon’s chanical body trembled slightly. Then, a spine-chilling, wild laugh erupted from its cold, chanical mouth.
"How hilarious! The Fated One is an idiot. Today, I’ll let you witness the power of the Blue Demon!"
As it spoke these brazen words, the chanical components on its body began to whir rapidly, emitting sharp CLICKING sounds. Arcs of deep blue electricity danced across its fra, as if it were gathering strength for the imminent battle.
Across from them, the Sand Beast was as massive as a mountain. Its body was covered in an iron-hard shell of gravel, with each piece gleaming with a tallic luster. On its enormous head, which had been a dark void, a pair of blood-red eyes suddenly appeared. They burned like two flas, exuding a bloodthirsty glow as they locked onto the Blue Demon.
"ROAR!"
The Sand Beast let out a deafening howl, the sound vibrating the very air. Imdiately, the gravel shell on its body began to glow intensely. All the gravel seed to co alive, detaching from its body and rapidly coalescing in the air into imnse sand spikes. In the next mont, the spikes shot toward the Blue Demon, as dense as a downpour.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Earth-shattering explosions and blinding light illuminated the entire battlefield. Upon striking an azure light shield, the sand spikes disintegrated into sand that rained down, kicking up a thick cloud of dust.
"ROAR!"
The Sand Beast howled to the heavens once more, as if mocking the insignificant insect before it.
"Is that all you’ve got?"
The dust cloud had not yet settled, but a thunderous blue light began to shine from within. Evidently, the Blue Demon had not been so easily defeated by the Sand Beast’s attack. A mont later, a blinding blue light pierced through the dust, revealing the Blue Demon tightly gripping blades that shimred with a cold, blue radiance. It shot toward the Sand Beast like a cannonball.
Sensing its foe’s approach, the Sand Beast opened its maw—wide enough to swallow a building—and unleashed a sandstorm filled with countless sharp flecks of gravel. The storm swept toward the Blue Demon like a surging yellow torrent, ready to overwhelm everything in its path.
The Blue Demon spun gracefully in mid-air, evading the brunt of the sandstorm’s impact like a nimble bird. However, the gravel at the storm’s edge still grazed its body, producing a series of sharp, CLATTERING sounds and leaving fine scratches on its chanical shell.
"How dare a re construct like you underestimate !"
Before the words had faded, the Blue Demon was already above the Sand Beast’s head. He leaped high, intending to stab the blue blade directly into the Sand Beast’s eye.
The Sand Beast detected the movent. Its massive head snapped upward as the hard gravel on its shell instantly stood on end, forming a wall of sharp spikes. Unable to dodge in ti, the Blue Demon’s blade screeched against the gravel spikes, erupting in a shower of brilliant sparks. At the sa ti, the Sand Beast whipped its tail like a thick steel lash, slamming it fiercely into the Blue Demon. Caught off guard, the Blue Demon was sent flying like a cannonball, crashing heavily to the ground and sending up another plu of dust.
「On the other side」
Liu Yaowu was carefully whispering to Wei Hao.
"Hey, kid. Think we should help?" he asked. "Even if the boss isn’t the sa boss as before, we’re still on the sa side, right?"
As Liu Yaowu chattered incessantly, Wei Hao felt his esteed image of the doctor completely crumble. He tried to mask the look in his eyes, but Liu Yaowu still sensed sothing was off.
"Why are you looking at like I’m an idiot?" Liu Yaowu demanded. "Am I wrong?"
"Sigh!" Wei Hao exhaled, knowing he had to say sothing. "It’s not that we shouldn’t help. Just... take a good look at them."
"What about them?"
"What’s their power level?"
Liu Yaowu analyzed the situation with a serious expression for a long mont. "Uh... from what I can tell, they’re at least Mid-Level Eighth Stage Grandmasters."
Wei Hao slapped his forehead. "And what’s our power level?"
"That’s obvious, we’re..." Liu Yaowu trailed off, finally understanding Wei Hao’s point. He cleared his throat. "Right. I also feel that supervising the battle and shouting encouragent from the sidelines is much more important."
Feeling Wei Hao’s disdain, Liu Yaowu wasn’t the least bit embarrassed. So what if my social skills are a little lacking? I’m a researcher, after all.
Their exchange didn’t interrupt the battle. As expected of a formidable fighting machine, the Blue Demon swiftly rose from the dust. Though so of its chanical parts were damaged, its ability to fight was unimpaired. The deep blue light in its eyes intensified, its ferocity clearly provoked. The Blue Demon’s hands moved in a rapid, intricate dance before its chest as complex runes materialized in its palms.
"Blue Demon God—Transformation!"
Instantly, the deep blue electrical currents around the Blue Demon surged, multiplying several tis over and writhing like wild dragons. The chanical shell, once shimring with a cold light, now blazed brilliantly. Runes spread across its body, following the paths of the currents. Every chanical joint produced a crisp CLICKING sound, as if undergoing a precise and astonishing reconstruction.
Within the light, the Blue Demon’s figure began to grow. While it still didn’t match the Sand Beast’s colossal size, it was no longer a figure that was difficult to track. The blades, now wreathed in runes, beca larger and sharper. A mysterious blue light flowed along the edges, looking as if it could tear through space itself. A pair of translucent, crystal-like chanical wings slowly unfolded from its back, emitting an icy aura. With a gentle flap, they stirred up a powerful gust of wind that blew away the surrounding dust.
The Sand Beast seed to sense the threat from the transford Blue Demon. A flicker of caution crossed its blood-red eyes, but it was quickly overwheld by its endless ferocity. The beast roared at the sky again, the sound waves rolling out and causing cracks to spiderweb across the ground.
The earth beneath the Sand Beast’s feet began to fracture rapidly. Countless tons of sand and stone were pulled up by its imnse power, revolving around its massive body to form a gigantic vortex of sand. Within the vortex, stones and gravel ground against each other with a deafening screech, emitting a thick, heavy aura.
"Maelstrom of Death! Everyone, stay back!" Chen Pingchuan shouted. "If you breathe too much of that in, it will start corroding you from the inside out."
He frowned. He had no desire to bother with the mortals beside him, but the consciousness of his body’s previous owner kept fighting back. To maintain smooth control of this vessel, he had no choice but to give Lilia and the other two an impatient warning.
