Wei Xi’s words carried a hint of playful ambiguity, like wisps of smoke swirling in the air. Chen Pingchuan, however, had lost all of his usual carefree manner. He paused, and after a brief silence, his expression beca grave and earnest as he promised, his voice firm, "Alright, I’ll take care of you!"

These simple words seed to carry an imnse weight.

Upon hearing them, Wei Xi’s eyes instantly reddened, and a shimr of tears glistened within them. She discreetly raised a hand, wiping away a tear in a mont Chen Pingchuan didn’t notice. Then, she lightly tapped his chest and said in a coquettish tone, "You’re awful! Don’t lie to , I’ll actually believe you!"

Though her words were playful, the slight tremor in her voice betrayed the turmoil in her heart.

Without waiting for his reply, she gracefully rose to her feet. Wei Xi’s slender figure moved like a beautiful arc. Her perfect curves were imprinted on Chen Pingchuan’s vision, and his gaze followed her intently, as if trying to etch this fleeting mont of beauty into his very soul.

"I really have to go. You be good and stay here," Wei Xi said while straightening her clothes. "I’ll bring you a change of clothes and dinner when I get off work."

She swiftly put on the n’s bar uniform that had originally been prepared for Chen Pingchuan. As for why she wasn’t wearing her own outfit—one look at her clothes, which were now completely torn to shreds, told Wei Xi there was no way she could wear them out in public.

"Oh, right, here you go," Wei Xi said, handing an object resembling a communicator to Chen Pingchuan. "If you get really bored, take a look at this."

Chen Pingchuan instinctively took it, but his gaze, as if drawn by a magnet, remained firmly locked on Wei Xi.

His intense stare made Wei Xi’s cheeks grow hotter, a blush spreading across them like rosy clouds at dawn. She reverted to a girlishly shy deanor and chided him gently, "What are you looking at for? Is there sothing on my face?"

A faint smile touched Chen Pingchuan’s lips, his eyes full of deep affection and fondness. He blurted out, "You’re beautiful. I love looking at you. I won’t be able to sleep tonight."

This rapid-fire, passionate string of complints from Chen Pingchuan earned him a roll of the eyes from Wei Xi, yet her beautiful eyes held a hint of undeniable, hidden sweetness.

More than ten minutes later, with a crisp BANG, the door clicked shut. The sound was like an invisible barrier, completely separating the world inside the room from the one outside.

The smile on Chen Pingchuan’s face vanished as quickly as a receding tide, replaced by a deep, heavy contemplation. His eyes grew profound and distant, and the air in the room seed to freeze, leaving only the faint, cold light of the communicator in his hand.

After a long, long ti, the room was silent save for the sound of his quiet breathing.

He snapped out of his daze. "Perhaps it’s ti to let go," he murmured to himself. "Ti to abandon my ideals and just be an ordinary person."

Having said that, a rough outline of his once-murky future began to take shape in his mind. He slowly shifted his gaze back to the communicator. This gadget looked a bit like a mobile phone from his past life—a local network version.

His slender fingers gently tapped the screen, and as the trending news page opened, several eye-catching headlines bombarded him like bombshells.

"Shocking! A swarm of Corpse Worms assails the Southern Mountain Range! An eighth-level Beast Taming Divine Envoy is personally supervising the battle."

"Astonishing! Unexpected activity in the Northern Black Demon Tide! The Southern Alliance has swiftly dispatched personnel to stabilize the defensive line."

"Unprecedented! The Fox Race’s rising star, Ji Hongxiu, has forcefully ascended to the rank of eighth-level Divine Envoy, yet remains trapped in the northern Kailing Province, unable to return to the Alliance to report for duty."

"Inhumane! The East Coast’s Celestial Palace has been launching unprovoked attacks on smaller factions across various territories! The shocking reason behind it? They claim to be lovers of nature, opposed to all machinery."

...

"Urgent! The Southern Alliance is critically short on Beast Tars. Reserve slots now available for just 9,998!"

Chen Pingchuan’s gaze swept over the headlines one by one, carefully reading from top to bottom and gradually uncovering a wealth of critical information. From these tidbits, he could roughly deduce his current situation. First, he was in the Southern Alliance, which was located in the Southern Ming Region. The largest faction within the Alliance was called the Blood Beast Ban. And Ji Hongxiu, the woman he had endlessly manipulated in the simulation, had now gone to his forr territory, Kailing Province.

Damn that crazy woman, could she really be after ? If it weren’t for my accidental teleportation, I’m afraid she would have caught by now.

Chen Pingchuan’s brow furrowed as Ji Hongxiu’s cold, commanding face involuntarily surfaced in his mind.

Did she travel all this way because she likes , or is she out for revenge? I have no way of knowing for now. After all, during her battle with Belia in the last simulation, I never got a chance to find out.

As this thought crossed his mind, his expression soured. Now that he thought about it, Ji Hongxiu was far from the only person he had provoked in the simulated world.

There was Belia, a city lord from the Genetic Warrior faction—a ruthless, cunning, and deceptively cherubic-looking girl.

There was also Xia Qingxue, the Young Palace Master of Celestial Palace, the most powerful force in the chanical faction, whose background was formidable and not to be underestimated.

And to top it off, there was Ji Hongxiu, the newly promoted Beast Taming Divine Envoy and eighth-level Grand Elder of the Blood Beast Alliance.

Well now, it seems I’ve managed to offend the top brass of several of the world’s most powerful factions, one by one.

Chen Pingchuan shook his head with a wry smile. A mont later, however, he waved his hand dismissively.

Forget it. It doesn’t matter. Starting today, I’m washing my hands of all this. I’ll stay far away from worldly conflicts. None of it has anything to do with anymore.

As he concluded his thought, a resolute look flashed in his eyes, as if he had completely severed all ties to his past.

While fiddling with the device, Chen Pingchuan also called up his attribute panel. He wasn’t sure if it was because of their intimate contact or so other reason, but in any case, the panel indicated he would be back at his peak in just one week.

With nothing else to do, Chen Pingchuan started playing with the communicator again. He had to admit, it brought back a familiar feeling from his past life. The content was quite interesting, and there were even so puzzle gas, such as how a Beast Tar should select and nurture their pet beasts, followed by battles between different kinds of pets.

Undeniably, for Chen Pingchuan, who hadn’t played any gas in over three years, this little diversion was surprisingly engrossing.

"Not bad, not bad at all!"

Ti passed quickly, and the sunlight outside gradually faded. Tonight, the stars were few and far between, and the only illumination in the room ca from the faint glow of the communicator.

Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed from outside the door.
