Chen Pingchuan gritted his teeth, constantly reining himself in. He was afraid he might lose control and give this quirky little money-grubber a loving beatdown. His sandbag-sized fists would probably hurt a lot if they hit her delicate little face.

The reason for his imnse resentnt was simple: he could still feel a dull ache in his head. It was a testant to how powerful her punch had been last night; even with his current constitution, he hadn’t been able to withstand her attack. Granted, he wasn’t in peak condition.

RUSTLE...

Wei Xi leaned down and began untying the ropes. An unknown floral fragrance wafted into Chen Pingchuan’s nostrils. He turned his head aside, but from his new angle, his gaze landed on her fair neck and the tantalizing hint of her cleavage.

Before long, Wei Xi had untied the ropes. She stood to the side, her slender fingers fidgeting nervously as she stared at Chen Pingchuan with a burning intensity that made his skin crawl.

Chen Pingchuan sat up, gently flexing his wrists as he scanned his surroundings. The place was a far cry from the dormitory he had imagined. There was a small window above the head of the bed to his left, but otherwise, the room was enclosed by plain stone walls. The space above the two single beds was used for storage, and it looked like the beds themselves had been fashioned out of other objects. This isn’t a dormitory, it’s a storage room.

He looked down at the new clothes he was wearing, and a strange sense of familiarity washed over him. It was the classic three-piece combo for a car salesman from his previous life: a shirt, a tie, and black trousers. For a mont, he found himself reminiscing about his days before transmigration. Those sales ladies who danced so enticingly in the showroom... they were truly sothing else.

He wasn’t allowed to reminisce for long. The silence in the room, coupled with the scorching gaze from across it, quickly pulled his thoughts back to the present.

"What do you want?"

"What do you an, ’what do I want’?" Wei Xi feigned nonchalance, her tone stubborn.

"I’m asking if you have anything you want to say to ," Chen Pingchuan said, looking at her intently.

"Nothing at all!" Wei Xi insisted, refusing to give in.

"You’d better think carefully. If you don’t say it now, you might not get another chance."

Chen Pingchuan’s words made Wei Xi’s heart skip a beat, and a flicker of anxiety finally appeared on her face. She forced a weak smile. "Heehee... well, it’s not that there’s nothing to say. I was just... I was just..."

"Spit it out," Chen Pingchuan said, a rare joke escaping his lips now that he sensed she wasn’t a bad person.

"Ew... How crude! You barbarian, hmph!" Wei Xi huffed indignantly before finally revealing her true intentions.

"Tell , are you a refugee looking for relatives?"

"Hmm? No."

"Then are you the scion of a fallen noble family?"

"No."

"Were you a rchant who was attacked by bandits and fled here?"

"No."

"Or maybe... you’re a super expert from so secret organization who was betrayed by your comrades and ended up like this?"

This ti, Chen Pingchuan didn’t answer. He just frowned at her and said irritably, "What exactly are you trying to ask?"

Wei Xi muttered to herself, her voice filled with disappointnt, "So that’s not it either?"

Then, she looked at Chen Pingchuan, her entire deanor shifting in an instant. The cute little girl vanished, replaced by a wild huntress. She jabbed a finger at him and bellowed, "If you’re nothing, then get your ass up and start working to pay off your debt to !"

anwhile, she was ntally kicking herself for her actions last night. What a total loss! The plots in novels are all scams! A fallen noble eting a kind, beautiful young lady? A fallen True God falling in love with a bartender like ? It’s all lies! All of it! He’s just a common vagrant! At best, he’s a slightly handso vagrant, but he’s not worth spending so much money on!

Wei Xi had conveniently forgotten that she hadn’t actually spent anything. The clothes were hand--downs from a previous bartender, and the storeroom was just a space the bar provided for temporary staff. As for bathing Chen Pingchuan... hadn’t she only done that because she thought he was handso and wanted to take advantage? Yet now, by her own logic, she felt like she’d been completely ripped off. It just goes to show how strikingly similar the workings of a woman’s mind can be sotis.

Chen Pingchuan stood up, towering over her by a good two heads. Wei Xi had to crane her neck to look up at him.

His voice was cool and detached. "Work? That’s impossible. I’ll never work a day in my life. And you’re worried about money? I’ve got more than enough."

Hearing this, Wei Xi imdiately put on a condescending air, mocking the tall man despite her small stature. "Oh, ’more than enough’? You’re quite the boaster, aren’t you? Fine. I won’t ask for much. How much was it again...? 2,000, was it? Alright, let’s call it 1,500. If you can produce 1,500 Federation Coins right now, I’ll lick your feet. So young and already such a liar."

Wei Xi posed like a disapproving adult, her hands on her hips. Though she was much shorter than Chen Pingchuan, her aura was anything but weak.

"Did you just say that if I produce 1,500 right now, you’ll lick my feet?" Chen Pingchuan’s teasing question made her falter.

Why is he so confident? I searched him from head to toe last night and found nothing but that tal orb. How could he possibly have 1,500 Federation Coins? It’s impossible. Even if he worked or borrowed it... Wait, he’s not thinking of stealing 1,500 after he gets out, is he?

As the thought struck her, Wei Xi’s confidence returned, and she looked as if she held all the cards. "My word is my bond. If you can produce 3,000 Federation Coins—right here, right now, this very instant—I’ll lick your feet."

Hearing her words, the smile on Chen Pingchuan’s face grew even wider. His body might have been weakened by the spatial turbulence, preventing him from being at his peak, and he hadn’t had ti to inspect his condition. But he could still sense that the simulator’s built-in storage space was accessible.

So, he confird with her one more ti.

"You promise?"

"I promise!"

"No backing out?"

"Absolutely no backing out!"

Chen Pingchuan’s tone grew more and more boisterous, his voice getting louder. But the more he acted this way, the more Wei Xi was convinced he was bluffing, and she grew even more defiant.

"Go on then! Let’s see you conjure up so money for !"

"Hahahaha..." Chen Pingchuan let out a hearty laugh. Then, he brought his thumb and index finger together.

SNAP.

With a crisp snap of his fingers, a thick stack of Federation Coins materialized out of thin air and fell to the ground. From the looks of it, it was a standard bundle of 10,000.

Wei Xi’s expression instantly froze.
