The slight noise quickly attracted Chen Pingchuan’s attention. He was curious as to what kind of person could have not only stubbornly survived the missile barrage but also successfully evaded the Red Armored Woman’s search. The only reason his focus was so sharp was that, in his current soul state, he was utterly and completely bored.

Chen Pingchuan’s current state was like a prisoner in solitary confinent. Besides his eyes and his mind, his body was completely immobile.

As the sounds drew nearer, the mystery was solved. The newcor was none other than the fake Demon King—the portly Guo Yihang.

Chen Pingchuan suddenly recalled that, in preparation for the apocalypse, the blueprints he had drafted followed the highest defensive specifications. This was especially true for the basent under phase one of the Doomsday Bunker’s construction. Not only did it utilize special materials that could shield against infrared scanners, but even the load-bearing structures of the walls and the various pipes had been reinforced. It might not withstand the devastating power of a super-nuke, but it could certainly resist a small-scale missile strike.

Thanks to these preparations, Guo Yihang had managed to survive the catastrophe.

That damned fatty sure is lucky. I didn’t get to enjoy any of the things I prepared, but he didn’t miss out on a single one. Chen Pingchuan mused, watching the furtive Guo Yihang. The fatty’s luck was truly off the charts.

Could it be true what the netizens in my past life used to say? That every fat guy is a stock with high potential?

Guo Yihang cautiously maneuvered around the rubble blocking his path. Hours ago, he had been moping in the basent. After getting through the initial wave of anxiety and successfully taking care of his forr leader, he felt a weight lift from his shoulders. He thought to himself that, no matter what, he deserved a couple of drinks.

However, before he could even fill his glass, the roar of explosions erupted overhead. The intense tremors imdiately cut the power to the basent, and the deafening noise gave him a terrible fright. He had no idea what was happening outside and certainly didn’t dare to go check. He held out for several hours, until the ventilation ducts were blocked by so unknown debris. The air grew thinner and thinner, making it difficult to breathe. Left with no other choice, Guo Yihang had cautiously made his way out of the basent.

Finding no enemies, he let out a sigh of relief, only to be completely stunned by the scene before him.

The shelter he rembered had been transford beyond recognition. "Desolate" wasn’t a strong enough word to describe the ruin. Wreckage from the buildings was strewn everywhere.

His face a mask of grief and indignation, Guo Yihang began flipping over the nearby corpses, his expression growing more disappointed with each one.

Twenty minutes later, he finally reached the center of the battlefield. Seeing the stone-cold body of Chen Pingchuan, he let out a loud WAIL and burst into tears.

Chen Pingchuan was just starting to feel a little touched when he heard Guo Yihang’s loud rant.

"Brother Chuanzi, why couldn’t you stand to see your brother doing well? It hasn’t been easy for this past year! For the sake of population growth, I made the great sacrifice of marrying nine concubines, even though there were no feelings involved.

"But they were still hard to co by! Do you have any idea how expensive it is to marry a wife in the apocalypse? You don’t!

"Do you know how much blood and sweat I poured into this base? You don’t!

"You don’t know anything! Waaah..."

The man, who stood over two ters tall, cried his heart out.

Chen Pingchuan wasn’t sure what to feel right now, but he knew one thing for certain: what the fatty was spouting was absolute nonsense.

Wait a minute. Your shelter was destroyed, but what on earth does that have to do with ? I’m not the one who wrecked it, that red-armored hooligan did! Why are you blaming ?

As if sensing Chen Pingchuan’s confusion from the great beyond, Guo Yihang actually provided an answer.

"Brother Chuanzi, I’m not trying to bla you, but you know, you could have co at any other ti. Why now?

"Before you ca, I was living just fine. The mont you showed up, my ho was gone.

"And you didn’t just co, you brought a whole legion of super, super, duper experts with you! You wouldn’t rest until my ho was torn down, would you? So what if I used a bit of your money? Did you think I wouldn’t pay you back? And look now, they’re all dead!"

What the hell?

Chen Pingchuan made up his mind. If he ever went on a long journey, he was definitely taking this damned fatty with him. If he didn’t behave, he’d just get a few slaps across the face. He finally saw it clearly. This fatty hadn’t learned a thing over the past year, except how to be dramatic and spout slick nonsense.

Give back the original, honest, and earnest fatty!

"Sigh!"

Having finished his one-man show, Guo Yihang let out a long sigh and spoke softly, "Don’t say I’m not a true brother. Based on the signs of fighting here, I don’t even need to look closely to know the enemy was incredibly powerful. Even..."

Guo Yihang glanced at the bodies of Ji Hongxiu and Belia, the corner of his eye twitching.

"Even powerful experts like these, who could fly through the skies and move through the earth, are dead. I’m afraid there’s even less hope for to get revenge. But if I don’t avenge you, what right do I have to call myself your brother?"

Hearing the first part, Chen Pingchuan felt a flicker of comfort. The damned fatty had many flaws, but at least he was thinking about avenging him. That still counted for sothing.

However, Guo Yihang’s next words made the thoroughly dead Chen Pingchuan want to reanimate just to choke him.

"Today, I will cut my hair to sever our bond. From this day forward, we are no longer brothers."

Guo Yihang reached up to touch his hair. A wig fell off, revealing a shiny, bald head.

"Hehe. You didn’t know, did you, Brother Chuanzi? The flowing hair you always envied was fake. So, I won’t be cutting my hair to sever our ties. Let’s just do it verbally."

Though his words were filled with complaint and resentnt, the grief in his eyes was like a deep, underlying color that could not possibly be faked.

However, Chen Pingchuan, who was so furious he had practically lost his mind, was in no state to notice such a subtle detail.

You’ve done it now, you damned fatty. I’ll definitely take you with when I go.

Thinking you can just stay here and live a quiet life as a petty king? Not a chance!

Guo Yihang would never have dread that his entire future would be turned upside down because of this minor incident in the simulation.

Before Chen Pingchuan could figure out how to deal with the damned fatty in reality, a blinding white light slashed across the sky. In an instant, his vision went black.
