Apocalyptic Rebirth: With a repairman system space, she rises again. Chapter 98: The promised dance
He had a feeling that very soon, he would see his son in the clothes that she had described. She would probably add the helt hair too. She was right about the na Thunder. Any kid with such a na was trouble.
"I still owe you a dance." he said while topping her glass for the third ti.
Sunshine smiled. "Right, you promised to show your extraordinary hip movents."
Hades got off the sofa and walked off to fumble with the speakers and turn on so music. He wanted to select sothing with a "tango" like beat.
Sunshine tucked her feet beneath her thighs and watched the man she was now most comfortable with in the whole world hum as he selected a song that she was familiar with. A smile dotted her face as gratefulness swept through her that she had been married off to him and not Cassius or any other man.
n like Hades Quinn were very rare. It was too bad his ex-wife had not seen it.
"This song!" She said with a faint smirk on her lips as the rhythm of a popular tango track swept through the living room.
He turned back to her, rolling his head like a snake with a big grin on his face. "By the ti I am done, you will be screaming my na and begging for more."
She nearly choked on the wine she had just sipped.
"Clean your mind Sunshine," He smirked triumphantly.
He started dancing, shimming one shoulder and then the other. His movents were very exaggerated and not as smooth as he promised to be. He parted his legs and swayed with his arms sweeping the wind in circular movents. Wine splashed onto Sunshine’s hands as she laughed loudly.
"You’re killing ." She covered her eyes with her left hand for a second and pulled it away because he was still dancing. "Stop."
"You can’t stop greatness." he did a clumsy spin on one foot and added a "whoo" sound. "I call this the Ma-Quinn."
Sunshine snorted, spilling wine onto the carpet and as she leaned forward. "It is not the Ma-Quinn!" It was a spin!!
This was like soone dancing the moon walk and deciding to re-na it as if they had invented it.
"You may be the handy one in this marriage, but I got all the rhythm." he bragged.
"What rhythm?" She called out.
He danced his way towards her and extended his hand. "Madam, would you care to join for a tango?"
She wanted to turn him down but threw caution to the air and decided to have fun. It was not as if there was sothing important, they both had to do anyway.
He smiled at her and slowed down, turning the speedy tango into a slow dance. Honestly, he could not recall the last ti he had danced as well. His life was all about his business and his children until she ca along with her apocalypse. She crushed into their lives like a hurricane and brought chaos.
He was loving this marriage. It all started as an arrangent, his money for her knowledge. He had drawn up a contract that he never ca around to making her sign.
What they both didn’t prepare for was the blossoming friendship and in-between monts--the accidental brushes of fingers, the shy glances sotis, the way he cleaned her tools or arranged them after she left them laying around, the secret laughter and whispering which they did at ho and outside. Most of all, the smooth co-parenting. He found himself asking her for opinions before doing certain things for the children even though they were his. She was the sa way.
Being around each other was so easy, like breathing.
He took a deep breath and snaked his hand around her waist, moving even slower than before. She leaned her head on his shoulder and their bodies fell into sync, moving gracefully.
She pulled her head back and said to him, "You are not so terrible when your hands and hips are not flying."
He stepped back and made her spin. "My hips don’t lie."
Sunshine chortled and he pulled her back to his chest and held her even more firmly. They continued to move together as the track restarted. He turned her around held her from behind.
He turned her around again and led her into a real tango, one without the theatrics. Sohow, the dancing went from funny to intimate in a way neither one hand planned. His hands were warm; her eyes had a spark. Their movents turned clumsy. Their hands lingered in ways that whispered.
They would have danced for longer if Ariel did not march into the living room and rip the cord out, turning off the music. Without saying another word, he glared at them and marched back to the children.
Hades flinched.
Sunshine laughed.
They collapsed back onto the sofa and giggled in breathless whisper.
"Did you see the way he looked at us?" She asked him.
"Like he is the disapproving and disappointed parent, and we are the bad kids that threw an illegal party at ho and invited the whole school." He laughed lightly.
"Having your strength and the kids, it really makes like this." she admitted, "being married to you."
"Is this your admission that my dance skills have moved you?" he laughed.
She nodded, curling closer to him. "Your hips might lie, and I will never unsee the performance you put on for , but I will admit that I have enjoyed dancing with you."
"In that case, we should make dancing a regular part of our lives from now on." He suggested. "I have enjoyed dancing for and with you, Sunshine Quinn."
He leaned forward like he was going to kiss her and suddenly lifted her, carrying her to the bedroom. He could see signs of tiredness in her eyes, but he knew she would not stop working if it was left up to her.
Also, if they did not move, he had a feeling that they would end up starting more trouble that would have Ariel coming out of the bedroom to berate them.
"Do you know what I have always wanted to try?" he asked.
She looked up at him and winced, expecting to hear sothing ridiculous and his next words proved her right.
"There is that scene in movies where a couple is eating the long spaghetti from the sa plate and they end up slurping opposite ends of the sa strand until their lips et in an accidental kiss. "
"Where are you going with this?" Sunshine asked him in a doubtful voice.
Hades blinked as he placed her on the bed. "We are in an apocalypse. Tell that this is not the ti to try out every ridiculous idea you have ever had. Now is the ti to be reckless."
It dawned her in that mont that Hades Quinn watched too many romance movies. For a man with eyes of steel that had made many people tremble in fear, it seed so out of character.
While talking about random things, they went to bed. Outside the base, the watcher returned but it kept a distance. Its eyes were focused on the bubble.
