Emily stood there, the shock of what she had just seen sinking into her bones. "How the hell did she just do that?" Humans did not just ward off missiles as if they were slapping away flies.

"It has got to be the suits they are wearing." Dr. Rash said in a small squeaky voice. "We should give up and leave right now, it is not too late. Look at our numbers and look at theirs." He struggled to release himself from the hold of the two Emily loyalists that were keeping him firmly in place.

Both were n with that ability to turn their skin into tal. Emily had asked them to protect the doctor because he was their ergency blood bank. Ideally, he should not have been on the battlefield but she needed him to be sowhere within her reach.

The superhuman beside Emily scoffed. "It’s too late to turn back. Even if we do, they will follow us back to Kingsbridge. Deron used to run Westbrook. Where is he now? He is dead and so are most of his people. According to rumor, others are in prison on the mountain. It is ti to bring in the big monsters."

As they were thinking and preparing their next attack, Sunshine’s attack was already underway. Her hamr popped up behind them, swung towards the woman calling for the big guns and smashed her head in two tis. Pieces of her brain fell in different areas, so on Emily.

"NO!!" Emily let out a scream, sharp with frustration and edged by fear and fury. Kayla was one of her strongest and most loyal soldiers. A Stafford, her younger sister in fact and a geokinetic. A hamr should not have been able to kill her! "Cover ! Let us retreat! Retreat!"

Sunshine smirked. She raised her hand, blocking every path behind Emily with an ice wall.

Vicente rushed to Sunshine’s side. "Do not kill her she is mine, it is my ho that she has destroyed."

Sunshine ignored him. With her mind, she commanded the hamr to smash the n around Emily. The hamr flew above, circling the battlefield like a glowing blue boorang, smashing through enemy shields and breaking bones the bones of Emily’s n.

Shots were fired at it. Grenades were hurled. Nothing worked against it.

When it ripped through the one in the armor from the back, coming out through his chest, fear took over. So enemy soldiers decided to abandon the fight.

"Fuck !" Vicente said, wondering how the hamr had done that on its own. "How did you...never mind." His eyes moved to Emily who had ripped apart the ice wall, eager to escape, hoping to live to fight another day.

Sunshine slamd the hamr into the ground in front of Emily. The resulting shockwave sent Emily and the six people she was escaping with flying backwards.

Nimo flew above her, dropping acid grenades like drops of rain. "You really did not think that you were going to win this one, were you?" She chuckled.

Emily raised her arms and waved them once. Nimo and every other superhuman in the exo suit circling above were flung away by an unseen force.

Suddenly, there was a shift in the battlefield. Frost traveled on the ground, swallowing stones, bodies, weapons and everything in its path. Snow flakes fell from the sky, one would think winter had returned.

Spears of ice, sharp as cathedral spires aid for Emily. She pushed out two of her people, and they were stabbed in the chest. Quickly, she flicked her wrist, bending the rest of the spears midair. They slamd into the ground, shattering into shards on the sheet of ice on the ground.

"My turn." Vicente said.

Sunshine shoved him aside. "Stay out of this venom breath. You can’t fight gravity by breathing on it." She narrowed her eyes and exhaled. Lately, she had been training her blizzard creation ability. She exhaled and the snowflakes beca bigger, a blizzard roared forward, snowflakes swirling like knives.

Emily reacted quickly, she was not waiting for the blizzard to beco an uncontrollable mass that could swallow her. She stomped her foot, and the storm collapsed inward, sucked into a whirlpool and fizzling out.

"Cute trick." Sunshine laughed.

Vicente stepped in front of her. Sunshine shoved him back again, sending him twenty feet away with a single blast of wind.

Nala shook her head. "This guy just doesn’t get it." She muttered.

Gregg laughed.

Electricity crackled across Sunshine’s fingers, blue arcs dancing around her. She launched a bolt--Emily twisted space, redirecting the bolt. But Sunshine had been expecting her to do that. The system was predicting Emily’s moves, almost as if it was in her mind.

As Emily dodged the first bolt, Sunshine sent out another, splitting it into three forks. One struck the ground, one was diverted but the last struck Emily in the shoulder.

She hissed.

Sunshine laughed. "You have one trick, bending space and spoons. Guess how many I have?"

Emily clenched her fists. "You want new tricks, I will show you one." Then, she raised both arms, and the battlefield trembled. The air thickened with pressure and suddenly, half of the people on the battlefield were flung towards the mist, Emily and Sunshine included!

Just before Sunshine vanished into it, Hunter latched onto her leg.

It took less than five seconds for Sunshine to figure out that they were no longer on the battle field. Gone was the ice she had spread, the snow flakes, the dark smoke and buildings. All of it was replaced with confusion, blurred shapes and shadows.

Sunshine looked at the communication sensors of the exo suit. They were still working. At least that was good news. The bad news was that her people were spread out, trapped in the mist. So were not exo suits!

Her eyes widened as she recalled a very important detail. Nimo had already lowered her helt just before Emily sent them all into the mist.

"Nimo....are you there? Talk to ." She spoke frantically.

There was so static in her ears, and then voices started responding. Other superhumans and soldiers in exo suits. But none was Nimo.

Sunshine looked at Hunter. "Start scanning the mist for the locations of all my people. Lock in on Nimo. I need to find her." The only upside to this was that they had swallowed reddix pills.

But the trouble with the mist was that there were other things inside that were as just as deadly. Maybe even the watchers that had vanished.

Perhaps, this was their opportunity for revenge. What she needed to do was protect her people, inside and outside. "To everyone from Fortress four that is inside the mist, listen to . Try to stay where you are. I am coming for all of you. If you can, help Vicente’s people. You all have surplus masks and reddix pills. To those outside the mist, don’t co in. I don’t need more people to rescue.

This is an order and I expect obedience. Clean up the battlefield, march to Kingsbridge and begin the take over. Take the rescued children back to their families. Whether we make it out or not, for the rest of you, survival must go on."

"And , what am I supposed to do?" Hades’ tight voice slipped into her ears.
