"They have money and resources, being surrounded by neighbors like them is better than being surrounded by empty land and marauders." She reasoned.

Hades could not imagine living next door to Jon Kingsley. It would be a nightmare for sure. That morning’s tropolis newspaper was the perfect example of Jon’s annoyances.

The newest billionaire to swim in the babysitter pool!

Below the ridiculous headline was a picture of Hades and Sunshine, not together. Separate pictures in one fra and Sunshine was carrying Castiel. It was an old picture, and he could not even begin to guess from where Jon had acquired it.

"You don’t know Jon like I do, he is a pest." He muttered.

Sunshine laughed, turning her head to look out of the closed car window. Her new husband had a nesis, he just didn’t want to acknowledge the other party.

Her phone rung, she lowered her head and took the phone from her tool bag. The caller was Nimo, and she answered imdiately. "Are you at Westbrook?"

"Not yet." Nimo replied and coughed. "I will be arriving over the weekend with my family. But that is not why I called. I have news that you will either love or dread."

"Go on." Sunshine encouraged.

Nimo took a breath first. "This is another update on Fort Slide. It is not looking good Suni, the mist is apparently spreading. My forr commander, he heard that I was preparing to abscond with so soldiers, and he reached out to with questions.

I told him what you told and said the information ca from a scientist. He and his n have been suspended by Secretary Roml for refusing to go into the mist because those that went in were not returning alive. Eighty-two have died so far and the number is still climbing. Commander Grayson and his n are seeking shelter with us in exchange for their services."

A guttural sound escaped Sunshine’s throat. "Roml is an asshole whose ambition got many people killed in the apocalypse. He is another Pastor Salem, a different wolf in the sa sheep’s clothing. Why am I not surprised that he is sending soldiers into the mist without a care?"

She clearly recalled how he tried to take control of the governnt imdiately after the acid rain started and he advocated for soldiers and ordinary people to be sent into the mist by all ans. Like a mad man, he was obsessed with it for so reason.

"If you vouch for them, they can co. You make the arrangents." She told Nimo.

"Suni, before you go into all the reasons why you hate Roml, I should tell you that there is a survivor." Nimo cut in before her friend could end the call.

Sunshine sat up abruptly and nearly scread. "What did you say?"

"I said, there is a survivor." Nimo repeated her words.

Hades was about to step out of the car, but Sunshine grabbed him. If soone had gone into the mist without all the gear, they had later in the apocalypse and co out alive then it ant only one thing. An awakening!!!

Just like the mist, super humans seed to be appearing ahead of schedule.

Fort Slide General Hospital.

Carson Warnock was the first and single patient in the isolation wing which had been prepared earlier on for survivors of the mist or those that were hard by it.

He had been awake for about five minutes, trying to make sense of where he was, how he got there and what had happened to him. His confused eyes darted only to et the white glare of the hospital lights. The last thing he rembered was a scream and mist encircling his whole body like a python.

Pain, of course he could not forget the pain. It had burned so badly like a blowtorch directly set off in his throat.

His eyes had been blinded; he could not breathe and .... nothing. Carson could guess that he had lost consciousness.

He moved his hands around and felt the firm mattress below. He turned his head from side to side and saw the hospital machines.

"Did I make it out? How?" He silently asked himself.

He needed to call his boss and report his status and also warn them about the odd mist. He had stumbled on many dead bodies in there. It was too dangerous to send others inside.

Carson pulled out the IV needle that tugged at his wrist causing him so mild discomfort, he went ahead to pull off the rest of the wires that were attached to his chest and arms. The oxygen mask was thrown away as well.

The heart monitor scread at the changes, its shrill alarm summoning the doctors in a panicked rush.

Outside of the isolation ward, Secretary Ceaser Roml gained his feet in a single motion when he saw the doctors and nurses running past him and his agents with worried frowns.

"Is he dead, what is going on?"

He wasn’t the only one that had questions, Willy Sikes snatched at the doctor’s flapping coat, his fingers clutching onto the fabric as the woman tried to rush past him. "Doctor what is happening? At least spare a second to share an update."

"Sir, i will brief you on what is happening but only after I find out what is happening." The doctor’s chin lifted, gaze dropping to Willy’s hand with a mild icy expression.

No sooner had Willy released his grasp when Secretary Ceaser grabbed her by the shoulders. "Tell if he is dead so that I can stop wasting my ti here? This is a matter of national security."

Just as he had ordered, more waves of soldiers had been sent into the mist and none made it out alive. The body count was high and soone was going to be blad. If he had answers, instead of bla, he would be praised. Carson Warnock was not allowed to die.

The doctor perked her shoulders back, the motion violent enough to make his grip slip and she rushed into the isolation ward.

Inside the isolation ward, doctors were frozen in shock. Impossible! their training scread. Patients with third degree burns didn’t just get up and walk! How was this man standing and why wasn’t he screaming?

"Mr. Carson, you cannot be moving around like that...." Professor Nina rlot, the team toxicologist began to speak.

"I feel fine, get the release forms I want to get out of here." Carson said, his fingers worked at the gauze, peeling back layers with eerie precision-that made the doctors wince because they knew what was beneath. "See I am perfectly normal." He continued to claw at the dressing.

With each strip removed, the room grew colder. The doctors breath hitched on seeing Carson’s flawless skin. No wounds and no burns!

"H-how?" One doctor stamred, he had seen the burns with his own eyes.

"I do not believe in God, but this is a miracle!" Another ntioned.

Carson Warnock stood before them, completely naked and very much the picture of excellent health. A thing that should not have been possible.

Secretary Ceaser slipped into the ward, holding a nurse at gun point. His eyes bulged when they t the sight of Carson’s body.
