The slingshot, as a kind of secret weapon, is not a toy made of wire and rubber bands.
It is also a variant of a bow, with a stem made of bamboo, lined with ox horn, and bound with ox tendon, reaching a length of 18 fists for the practitioner. The bowstring is made from silk, deer sinew, and assorted human hair. An ordinary bow with a draw weight of two and a half "li" is sufficient to harm a person. There are three types of ammunition for launching:
(1) Mud pellets: made by kneading clay and glue into a spherical shape
(2) Pagoda tree sand pellets: made by mixing powder from the seeds of the black locust tree, plaster, and fine iron sand
(3) tal pellets: cast from copper, iron, or lead
The thod of using a slingshot is similar to that of a bow and arrow. To draw a slingshot, stand in line with one’s steps, holding the slingshot with one hand and drawing the string with the other. The bow must be drawn into a full circle held level in front, aligned with the tip of the nose above, and the tip of the foot below. The drawing hand should be placed close to the space between the eye and ear on the sa side, and one should hold their breath when launching. "The Slingshot Manual" summarizes the essential points of training in the "Eight thods Song": "Before drawing the bow, look first at the holding hand, before setting the pellet, look at the hooking hand, before drawing the bow, look at the drawing hand, before setting stance, look at the entering hand, when drawing a full circle, look first at the drawing hand, after shooting the pellet, look at the forward hand." It later evolved into a martial arts equipnt, with many firing stances such as: Single Phoenix Facing the Sun, Wild Horse Approaching the Trough, Swan Laying Eggs, Water Dripping from Cliff, Brushing Grass Searching for Snakes, Dual Flying Geese, Holding the Moon in Arms, and so on.
The slingshot launches pellets, not arrows, and its distinguishing feature is a leather cup on the string used to launch the pellets. Pellets are spherical, with so made of stone, so of fired clay, and so of iron. Originally used for hunting, a slingshot later beca a lethal secret weapon. It does not match other throwing weapons in terms of range and power, but it excels in being easy to carry.
The value of a slingshot is approximately between 500 and 1500 Wen.
No matter the weapon, its value is far less than what Wang Guangyu brought from Qianji Pavilion, but at the sa ti, none of them were one-tenth as large as those weapons.
These things could be found without the need for Qianji Pavilion, and even the Special Troops trained by Zhao Xiu had already begun training with these ordinary secret weapons. If these were the only secret weapons needed, there would be no need to specifically seek out the people from Qianji Pavilion.
Of course, these secret weapons could certainly be incredibly potent, but that assus the user has profound skills, just as Qiao Feng could use the basic Taizu Boxing to defeat the martial arts experts. If an ordinary person used Taizu Boxing, they might be dead in ten minutes after fifty-eight cuts.
Compared with using these external weapons, it is certainly better to have self-cultivated strength. However, given the current establishnt date and ti for the Special Troops, it is clearly wishful thinking, to expect them to gain enough strength without a miraculous elixir or thirty years to polish their skills, it would be impossible for them to leverage the capabilities of these ordinary weapons to their special potential.
In the anti, they naturally needed so special weapons to supplent their combat strength, thus these secret weapons beca the best choice.
As the Special Troops founded to respond to complex situations and protect Li Ming from day one, each mber had to master a variety of weapons, from unard combat, to qinggong movent techniques, to wielding knives, spears, swords, and halberds — mastering all and having a foundation in each. Hence, they had to train in everything, after all, no one could ensure that they would be able to use the right thing for imdiate rescue when the ti ca.
Thus, the secret weapon beca the primary choice.
Of course, for such fine weapons, the materials used in their making were naturally extraordinary. Take the Thousand chanism Crossbow, nad after the sect Qianji Pavilion, the bow limbs used were the finest quality iron-core bows.
An iron-core bow is properly called a bronze-core, iron-backed bow. A tallic compound bow with a mix of tal and bamboo, sinew, and horn, its back made of iron.
In ancient tis, there was a kind of bow that replaced wooden bows. It was created with iron strips inlaid on the bow’s back, increasing its range and power, and it was also known as the "Iron Spine Bow".
The bow’s body was wrapped in iron in many parts, and there were even iron bows with an all-iron body known as the Iron Embryo Bow. It seed that only ancient Chinese warriors favored the Iron Embryo Bow, using it as a weapon even without arrows, capable of slaying flying birds and beasts with a swing of the bow. The Iron Embryo Bow exuded a dominating presence, its bowstring interwoven with tal threads, giving it a powerful cutting force against flesh. Those who used the Iron Embryo Bow all wore a large ring to protect their fingers—in order to handle a strong Iron Embryo Bow, one needed the strength of more than ten stones in both arms (a stone being one hundred and twenty jin, aning each arm had to handle one thousand two hundred jin).
Bamboo slices were cut into strips and, with the aid of other types of wood and the addition of steel wires and steel plates, coated with fish glue, then squeezed with molds to shape the bow’s body. After drying under the sun and repeating the process several tis, a bow would be ford.
The bow body of the Thousand chanism Crossbow was made of a golden iron. Such a bow body, possessed of the strength of tens of panels (or millions of jin of force), gathered its imnse power through an ingenious design and the ultimate convergence of materials into a single strike, which illustrates its impressive might.
Similarly, this also shows what exquisite craftsmanship and precious materials are required!
"If that’s the case, then I’ll need twenty Thousand chanism Crossbows, fifty Spirit chanism Crossbows, five hundred Storm Needles, one thousand Dark Tubes, eight hundred Nine Star Crossbows, and eight hundred Hidden Needles,"
Li Ming said with a smile. After speaking, seeing the puzzled look on the faces of Qianji Pavilion’s craftsn, he continued, "My army has its own material supply. Our master craftsn are few, so I’ll provide a thod: I will dispatch a company of soldiers specifically to assist you, teaching them the rough tasks so they can work together to save ti and improve efficiency. If Grandmaster Zong Bo is willing to train so more apprentices, that would be even better. Once these weapons are completed, there will certainly be a generous reward in red envelopes."
"This... we shall follow your commands!"
Hearing Li Ming’s words, the masters involuntarily swallowed and replied with difficulty. Seeing their reaction, Li Ming waved his hand, letting them go off to work, visibly almost unable to contain their excitent under Zhao Xiu’s lead.
Li Ming, anwhile, began to focus on imparting the Bloody Power Technique.
It was ti today for the Bloody Power Technique to be passed on.
Li Ming watched from the elite troops down to the ordinary troops, only nodding in satisfaction after seeing many soldiers begin their spiritual cultivation, then he silently returned to his own tent, unable to help sighing to himself.
Teaching others this life-shortening martial technique was truly cruel, and he almost couldn’t bear it... but then again, what choice did he have?
Li Ming cald himself for a mont, then quietly cultivated the God Protection Technique, slowly enhancing the quality of his soul until completion, and polished several spells, including the cultivation of the Soaring Technique.
Over these three months, not only had the army taken shape, but the magical cultivation of him and his senior and junior martial brothers, as well as his martial uncles, had also gradually improved. The Soaring Technique was now mastered by everyone.
Thus, cycling through several spells in his act, he began to refine his mana, slowly accumulating it within his dantian.
He now possessed mana but did not plan to imdiately switch to the path of immortal cultivation. Instead, he intended to accumulate his mana bit by bit. Only after reaching a higher level in the martial path would he step onto the path of immortality,
ensuring a deeper and firr foundation when the ti ca.
