From the mont Li Ming had entered the military camp, he had been queuing up, shouting and moving around to register, followed by bathing, changing clothes, and continuing to stand in line for two hours. Then ca the distribution of bedding and the allotnt of dormitories. This whole process, though seemingly trivial, had actually exhausted the physical strength of any ordinary person, leaving them dead tired.
In such a situation, having not drunk a sip of water or eaten a bite of food, and standing under the scorching sun for an hour, most soldiers had beco unbearably hungry and thirsty, tired and famished, and drowsy.
Especially at this ti, when the aroma of the food wafted from the dining hall, yet they still had to bear it and not move, it was truly a great torture on their willpower.
Fortunately, at this ti, Li Ming finally waved his hand, and soone imdiately led them from the training ground into the dining hall. The lunch that was then served, complete with stead buns, dishes with at, and watery rice, allowed them to eat their fill with relish.
After a hearty lunch, as the sun beat down, drowsiness crept back in. Just when they thought Baron Li Ming would continue to tornt them like in the morning, they were instead led to a large sleeping hall to sleep, with a person patrolling and strictly ensuring that everyone lay on their beds without making a sound unless it was physically impossible, all were to sleep.
The fatigue from the morning had already made them eager to sleep. Once they lay down, who would not want to sleep? Each of them secretly rejoiced, lying on the bed and falling deeply asleep.
This sleep lasted an unknown amount of ti until the clang of a gong awoke everyone. Despite being sowhat groggy upon awakening, under the urgency of the gong-ringer, they felt a relief throughout their bodies as they got up from bed, quickly changed their shoes and socks, and walked out of the room.
Once again, they lined up and ford a platoon, heading out of the barracks to the training field, only to realize they had slept for barely half an hour. Fortunately, that ti was sufficient; the fatigue of the morning had dissipated, and everyone felt refreshed.
As a result, when they lined up on the parade ground and soone ca to organize the formation, they all cooperated actively with clear and refreshed spirits, adjusting their positions continuously. Even the less adept ones, who inevitably got kicked a couple of tis during the process, did not hinder the proceedings until the entire platoon ford a complete square.
"Rember the way you are standing now, from here on out, every day when you arrive here, you all must line up this way!"
The commander, riding his horse around the field, shouted loudly, causing many soldiers to involuntarily check their positions and stand tensely in place.
They stood like that for the entire afternoon, many with legs trembling uncontrollably, yet no other orders ca, and they could only continue to grit their teeth and stand.
Finally, in the evening, with a wave of Li Ming’s hand, they were called to the dining hall for dinner, which imdiately thrilled them; uncontrollable smiles appeared on their faces as they limped to the dining hall to find a hearty al of tofu, at, and rice awaiting them.
Everyone ate their fill, and then they were called up to stretch their legs and loosen their muscles on the parade ground. After this routine concluded, they were instructed to take a bath, ensuring even their teeth were cleaned.
Naturally, they all complied, heading to the bathhouse to wash and change into clean clothes, feeling refreshed all over, before being led into various rooms.
In so rooms, teachers stood, beginning to teach them literacy and writing in the simplest and most understandable way.
In other rooms, dics taught them basic health and first-aid knowledge in the quickest and most comprehensible manner.
In so rooms, military manuals were displayed, with instructors teaching them what formations were, the importance of timing, and so forth.
This educational instruction lasted an hour, and by the ti it was complete, the night had deepened, and they were finally dismissed to their barracks to rest.
The first day inside the barracks, for many soldiers, it passed in so incomprehensible way.
However, soldier selection under Li Ming was extrely rigorous; each person could feel the level of importance the military high command placed on the soldiers. They also knew clearly that the opportunity to enter the barracks was hard-earned. In addition, although it was tiring and sowhat confusing here, having good food, clothing, and shelter was enough.
Under the prestige of Li Ming, they naturally felt that Li Ming had a purpose in doing things this way; all they needed to do was follow along.
Moreover, once they had entered the barracks and beco enlisted, even if they wanted to leave, they had no ans to do so and could only continue to stay.
Thus, in the blink of an eye, it was already the next morning.
Exhausted from the day before, the soldiers, refreshed by sleep, were awoken by loud gongs and drums as soon as the sun began to rise. They were then taken to wash up together, given a hot bun each, and, before they were even full, were shouted at to start running.
They ran around the drill ground lap after lap; most physically weak soldiers were so tired that they gasped for breath, their chests aching.
Li Ming watched them run three kiloters and did not let them run any further. After allowing them to stop, he had them walk until their heart rates slowed down, then had soone wipe their sweat and take them to the cafeteria for breakfast.
After breakfast, before they had the chance to rest, they were imdiately taken out to the drill ground again, stretching their muscles and bones as instructed, then began to lineup in formation, standing in neat rows.
After standing this way, Li Ming, without saying a word, made them stand until noon. Many started trembling in their legs, and only then did he let them go have lunch.
After lunch, they stretched again, then took a nap.
In the afternoon, they first ran five kiloters, then stretched and started to line up, continuing until dismissal when Li Ming finally voiced his first requirent, "Your speed in assembling is too slow. If you don’t want to continue standing so tediously, then act quicker. The ti you take to gather should not exceed the ti it takes for this sand to fall through this hourglass. Otherwise, you’ll just keep standing until the entire team can assemble before the sand runs out!"
Li Ming pointed to a nearby hourglass that would roughly take five minutes, then loudly shouted this before finally waving his hand for them to go to the cafeteria for dinner.
During the al, the team was sowhat noisy, discussing Li Ming’s demands and intentions, continuing their conversation until after dinner, stretching, taking baths, and then being called to various classrooms to begin receiving different courses.
Thus, this routine continued until the entire team, including the "Special troops" and martial artists, were all in place and finally qualified.
"Being able to run 20 miles at once and quickly walk 100 miles ans physical fitness is qualified."
"Being able to quickly assemble and follow commands ans quality is qualified."
"Being literate, understanding what warfare is, and being able to quickly cooperate ans knowledge is qualified."
"Only when all three areas are maintained at a qualified level can we continue to enhance combat capabilities."
Li Ming laid out his expectations for the team.
