Wan Fang swallowed, looking at the man on the ground who had been severely beaten by Li Ming. He wanted to explain sothing, but the words were stuck down his throat.

As he led the way back, he prayed that the managers wouldn’t abuse their power like they usually did...

In managing the base, both leaders practiced nepotism. The city guards had grown accustod to wielding their power and authority, and true to form, so had the managers...

Wan Fang only hoped that these managers would at least have the sense to not let their power go to their heads, unlike the city guards.

Otherwise, the situation would likely only worsen.

Tensions escalating, leaders being killed, the gathering place spiralling out of control, overrun by zombies...

Thinking of the worst-case scenario, Wan Fang’s face was cloaked in sweat.

Always anticipating the worst was a habit of Wan Fang’s, as it had helped him survive multiple disasters in the past. And so, in the face of this powerful man, these were the images that imdiately sprung to his mind.

The intense emotional onslaught had numbed the pain in his lower half. Wan Fang walked ahead, leading the way for Li Ming towards the city center.

The managent office, the place where the residents were governed, was naturally situated in the most convenient location.

All around were empty streets and buildings. The two leaders had gathered survivors from the surrounding area to form a new settlent. However, even combined, the population was still less than that of the city before the apocalypse.

As a result, despite the increase in population, there were even more empty houses than before.

This was particularly true for new real estate developnts, which were largely empty and uninhabited...

Li Ming observed everything around him. Standing outside the city gate, he saw a group of city guards, each one more badly injured than the last. Despite their injuries, no one had co to their aid.

The occasional passing farr would pay them no mind, their eyes filled with nothing but satisfaction. With the justification given by Li Ming, who would want to help them?

"Moo~"

The mutated buffalo returned to its place beneath Li Ming’s seat. Its dark eyes occasionally glanced at the buildings on either side. It didn’t react at all to the chaos that had just transpired.

From his seat on the buffalo, Li Ming followed Wan Fang’s electric car, using his telekinesis to examine the surroundings. When they reached the city centre, he finally saw houses showing signs of habitation.

However, without exception — the rooms were devoid of food and weapons.

He was also searching for familiar faces from his hotown, but all his efforts were in vain.

Once they advanced further ahead, Li Ming suddenly realized the truth. Piles of food and weapons were being guarded by a group of n. Most of the city’s residents were labouring, but these n idled around, even playing cards.

Of course, not far from the n were won who clung to them.

They seed indifferent toward food. Piles of food were strewn about the side, and the table was piled with gold and silver treasures. Li Ming saw with his own eyes a man who won a bet acquire gold and — a woman.

Luckily, he didn’t recognize any of these won.

A stir rose within Li Ming’s heart. As they moved forward, he finally saw a building with a sign that read "Managent Office" written in red marker. Using his telekinetic powers, he was able to perceive everything inside the building.

"Big Brother, this is the managent office. I will inform them of your presence."

Wan Fang left his car outside the building, turned to Li Ming, who was still on his mutated buffalo, and respectfully spoke. He then turned around to inform the people inside, in order to prevent any further trouble.

But Li Ming moved with him. Wan Fang’s expression stiffened slightly, but he still led Li Ming inside.

There was no one in the office.

Without hesitation, Wan Fang moved deeper into the office. To him, the office appeared like an empty space. Li Ming calmly followed him and only when they entered the inner office did they find it bustling with voices.

n and won were mixed in, gambling, and the indecent scene was hard to look at. As expected, Wan Fang knocked on the door.

No response.

Or perhaps the noise inside was too loud, they simply didn’t hear the knocking.

Wan Fang’s face twitched as he hurriedly pushed open the door, finally attracting the attention of the people inside. They all turned their heads to look.

"What do you want, who are you, what are you doing here?"

A balding man with hair only on the sides of his head and a potbelly rose to his feet, scowling at Wan Fang.

"An evolved friend is looking for the people from Tudian."

Wan Fang quickly responded. The potbellied man frowned, his gaze landing on Li Ming standing behind Wan Fang. He chuckled, "An Evolved? Him? What bullshit are you talking? Who doesn’t know my big brother and second brother? You’re courting death by impersonating the Evolved!"

Wan Fang: "..."

Having finished speaking, the potbellied man was visibly frustrated by his losing streak. He glared at Li Ming, "Why are you staring, why don’t you do sothing entertaining to revive my spirits, or else you won’t be leaving today!"

As he spoke, he drew out a belt from his waist and glared nacingly at Li Ming, "What are you looking at, why aren’t you coming over!"

"Look, your big brother’s about to show off again. So bloody boring,"

A man in a suit chuckled and leaned back with a relaxed smile, appearing to predict what was about to happen next and settling back to enjoy the upcoming spectacle.

The others in the room sported similar expressions, chuckling as they watched Li Ming standing at the door.

Li Ming walked into the room with a smile, step by step, he moved toward the potbellied man, looking up at his hideous face. Just as the man attempted to lash him with a whip for not kneeling, Li Ming suddenly kicked him hard.

"Boom..."

An explosive noise resounded. The entire upper part of the potbellied man turned into blood spatter imdiately.

"Spurt..."

Blood instantly splashed against the opposite wall, leaving a red stain. The smiles on the smoking won, who were sitting across, froze instantly.

"You bunch of useless people, why do you dilly-dally performing a simple task? Making add extra steps."

Li Ming behaved as if nothing happened. Regaining his composure, he turned to the other people in the room, his tone indifferent; "Now, I’ll ask again, where are the people from Tudian, and who are they?"

He was growing impatient.

"Drip drip..."

A puddle of yellow urine pooled on the ground. The man who was lounging in his chair beca softer, his face breaking out in a cold sweat.

"I know, they are...in the south of the city, farming..."

A man in the corner raised his trembling hand and spoke.

"......"

A textile mill, a steel mill, a weapon mill, an equipnt mill.

These are the only ongoing industrial facilities in the city. Besides these four mills, the remaining people only have one task: farming.

The new wheat breed grew well in the rain. But if there was too much rain, it would have to be drained from the land; otherwise, it would affect the yield, even drowning the wheat seedlings.

Luckily, the sewage drainage system within the county was quite robust. Taking advantage of the rare sunny afternoon, the survivors from Tudian hurriedly picked up their shovels and hoes, heading to the fields to dig trenches for drainage.

"Woof woof woof woof~"

Dogs barking could be heard all over the field. Mixed breed dogs were running around, wagging their tails between the ridges. These sounds brought smiles to the faces of Tudian villagers.

Among all the dogs, there was an ashen-faced, yellow-back, and white-pawed one leisurely lying in the center. On a closer look, a certain glitter seed to radiate from beneath its fur. Though it was only three sizes bigger than an ordinary dog, it firmly held the position of the pack leader, with even the larger dogs behaving deferentially.

The people of Tudian were very warm towards these dogs. It was largely due to their assistance that they were rescued and saved.

These dogs had now beco an irreplaceable force in their lives.

After a while, the ash-faced yellow dog abruptly stood up, eyes brightening as it wagged its tail cheerfully and barked toward a certain direction; "Harrumph ~~"

Bouncing excitedly on the spot as it barked, its behavior made a middle-aged couple standing next to it puzzled; "What’s up with Ahuang today, why is he so excited?"

As soon as these words fell, Ahuang dashed out joyfully, barking all the way.

"Woof woof woof~"

With Ahuang’s sudden move, about three to four dozen dogs erged from the field, enthusiastically rushing toward the direction he led.

"Woof woof woof woof woof~"

The villagers of Tudian followed the sound of the barking and saw a massive bull and a large cart in the distance.

More importantly, soone was riding that bull.

"Li Ming!"

A man who was draining the field by its side dropped his shovel in excitent as soon as he saw the man on the bull, shouting his na.

"Li Ming? Li Ming!"

The woman standing next to him looked surprised. A look of joy spread across her face as she realized who it was. She too dropped her hoe and raced towards him with her husband.

"Mom, Dad!"

"Moo~"

At the edge of the field, Li Ming held back the mutant water buffalo, which he had let accelerate as per his intentions, careful not to trample the wheat seedlings. He then quickly dismounted, first catching Ahuang, who was close to his house, rubbing his head, then he walked towards his parents, a broad smile on his face: "Dad, Mom!"

As he looked at the couple with a few grey hairs in their temples, tears welling in their eyes, a weight lifted from his heart. The closer he got to his hotown, the more anxious he felt, but this imdiately turned into unending joy.

He had hurried all the way for this mont!

His family was still alive, how fortunate!

He cast a casual look behind him, then headed toward his family, brimming with happiness and excitent.
