The monster moved without hesitation toward Clara. Its steps slamd into the shattered ground. The impact reverberated across the yard again. Its speed increased suddenly.
At that mont, all of them clearly understood how it was adapting to the battle. It had identified the greatest threat and was eliminating it first.
Clara froze at that mont.
The towering blazing figure charged at her like a maddened beast. Flas trailed behind its massive fra. The sight was too much and too sudden for her brain that she was frozen.
"Clara!" Daniel shouted.
He lunged forward, but he knew he would not reach her in ti.
Then... a sharp whistle cut through the air.
An arrow streaked from above and struck the monster’s chest.
Tobias had activated his skill. Ether flared along the arrowhead on impact. A binding force detonated outward and montarily locked the guardian’s movent.
The monster’s charge stopped in the middle of its steps.
It roared in fury.
"HAA! So there is still soone out there shooting from afar like a coward!" it rasped. "Co here if you’re really brave, son of a bitch!"
Its voice scraped like a grinding stone.
Daniel finally reached Clara and grabbed her shoulder hard.
"Get your shit together!" he shouted.
The sharpness in his voice snapped her out of it.
She blinked. "R-right... sorry."
Several ters away, Myles saw everything.
For a split second, his heart jumped into his throat. The fear of losing another teammate surged through him.
But Clara was still standing.
"Clara, you okay?" he called.
"Yes! Don’t worry about . I can still fight!" she replied firmly.
"Good." Myles turned his head sharply toward Darius. "Darius. Stay close to her."
Darius nodded and moved without delay. He positioned himself in front of Clara alongside Daniel.
Daniel raised his twin bluish daggers. Darius lifted his shield.
Their eyes t briefly. No words needed. They nodded at the sa ti.
"Attack!" Myles shouted.
Bullets and arrows rained from afar. Ethan, Samantha, and Tobias resud suppressive fire. The guardian broke free from the binding effect with a violent surge of flas.
Myles, Michael, Victor, George, and the others attacked from multiple angles, forcing the monster to divide its attention.
"Co on," Darius muttered.
He advanced. Daniel and Clara moved with him.
When they closed the distance, Darius stepped forward and raised his shield high. He planted his feet firmly against the fractured ground, placing himself directly in front of the guardian.
The monster opened its mouth. A concentrated burst of fire exploded outward.
BWOOOSH!
Darius felt the heat slam into him like a furnace blast. Flas curled around the edges of his shield and scorched his armor.
He activated his defensive skills.
His body glowed with reinforced Ether. His stance hardened. For several seconds, he beca an immovable fortress.
He pushed forward through the fire.
Clara and Daniel stood directly behind him, shielded.
"George!" Myles shouted.
George moved instantly.
He rushed in from the side and swung his hamr in a brutal arc toward the monster’s face.
DANG!
The hamr connected with the guardian’s jaw. The impact forced its head backward violently.
The fire burst redirected upward into the sky instead of crashing into Darius.
An opening ford. Right in front of Clara.
Clara did not hesitate. She stepped forward the instant the path opened.
Her eyes locked onto the exposed section of the guardian’s neck. The flas there flickered unevenly after George’s hamr strike.
She thrust with everything she had.
Ether surged through her arms and poured into the frost spear. The blade turned pale blue. Cold vapor spiraled around it.
She drove the spear straight into the monster’s neck. The impact landed clean.
Frost exploded outward from the point of contact. Ice spread rapidly across the burning surface, freezing layers of condensed fla.
At that exact mont, a violent burst of fire erupted from the guardian’s body.
BWOOOSH!
The explosion forced Clara backward. Flas washed over her face and arms and scorched her exposed skin.
She grimaced in pain and retreated several steps, smoke rising faintly from her sleeves.
Daniel moved imdiately.
He dashed into the gap Clara created and unleashed a rapid sequence of slashes at the frosted wound.
CRACK!
CRACK!
CRACK!
His twin bluish daggers struck the frozen section repeatedly. Each slash fractured the ice and the destabilized fla beneath it.
The guardian staggered.
Then it jumped backward twice in rapid succession. Its entire body flared violently, releasing expanding waves of fire that forced everyone to disengage.
They retreated as heat surged outward.
The monster landed several ters away.
Liquid fire dripped from the wound on its neck and splashed onto the shattered ground. The flas there flickered unevenly instead of reforming smoothly.
A harsh coughing sound echoed from within its burning fra.
The monster was destabilized.
"We can’t let it recover!" Myles shouted. He charged first.
His movents were sharp and direct. No hesitation. His eyes burned with pure killing intent.
For the first ti, the guardian felt sothing unfamiliar.
Worry, and even fear.
It saw Myles rushing toward it like a demon with two blades.
The monster roared and unleashed desperate power.
Fire burst violently from every part of its body. Flas gathered along one arm and elongated into a blazing whip.
It lashed the whip toward Myles.
The first strike cut through the air.
Myles sidestepped.
The second ca imdiately after.
He raised Fangblade and blocked.
The fire whip wrapped around the black blade, coiling tightly and burning intensely against the tal.
Myles grunted in annoyance as heat surged through his arm.
Before the guardian could pull Michael, Rafe, and Selene arrived beside him.
Michael did not hesitate. He charged straight at the monster.
His spear glowed red. Fire also Ether surged along its shaft. He knew elental disadvantage worked against him because he also used fire, but that did not matter. He still wanted to try.
He thrust forward with a shout.
"HYAAAH!"
The spear struck the guardian’s arm that controlled the fire whip.
The impact detonated in a burst of red fla.
The explosion forced the monster’s arm backward violently. The tension on the whip broke.
The burning coil unraveled from Fangblade and dissipated into scattered sparks.
Myles was free and imdiately, he surged forward again.
