Nyra was soone who rarely gave face to anyone, and Zerra wondered whether she would tear all pleasantries between them.
anwhile, ira still had an innocent expression at this ti, with a flash of fear in her eyes. The conversation, luckily, was limited to their small circle. Their words were quickly swallowed by the noisy crowd, but the people nearby still heard them.
Zerra watched the drama with gusto. Her appetite even increased; she munched on the bread faster, like a hamster. It was always great to watch trouble when you are not the character involved.
This ira was also a ruthless one. Nyra had just helped her to calm down so ti ago, but she quickly targeted her through a small sche.
"That’s fine. I will just regard it as a charity." Nyra muttered, unruffled by ira’s provoking words. Her face returned to calmness.
Zerra turned to ira, finding no trace of anger on her face. Even a fool could detect sothing wrong with the atmosphere, and possibly Nyra’s sarcastic words.
Instead of being angry, ira smiled. "Thank you. I know that Azi’s older sister is very kind. He had told a lot about you."
Nyra’s expression softened slightly, and she shifted her gaze to Laziel. Her eyes flickered slightly, and she seed to recall sothing.
After the atmosphere eased a little, Laziel began to fuss about her. "You can lean back if you feel tired."
Even a blind person could see that the two of them had sothing going on at that mont. ira readily accepted Laziel’s care and leaned back.
Zerra sighed inwardly. Her foolish, love-brained elder brother...
But this might be a good thing so that he could learn to use his brain. The danger Laziel faced previously has little impact on him. Because in case if he screwed up, there was always the protagonist around to save the day.
He was always saved or unconscious during danger.
Heartbreak could change people a lot. For better or worse.
When the night ca, the room was shrouded in complete darkness. Suffocating and giving rise to a sense of unease. Luckily, the chatter around helped to lessen such an uncomfortable feeling.
Her position wasn’t that far from Laziel and ira, so she could still hear their discussion. Darren sat nearby, listening to ira’s explanation about what had happened.
"I had just stepped out of the supermarket when they suddenly ca up to . They harassed and embarrassed with their words, calling nas." ira took a deep breath.
"I knew that they weren’t good people, so I tried to go back inside, but so of their people blocked the way. I had no choice but to run in the opposite direction."
"Then, all of you saved ." ira’s sweet voice rang in their ears. "I want to thank Mr. Valez especially for this..."
"Those people aren’t from here?" Darren asked.
"Yes. They recently showed up in the neighborhood, stealing supplies from weak people. Most of them had so kind of superpower, so most of us ended up suffering." They couldn’t see each other’s faces, but a touch of indignation allowed them to imagine ira’s expression through her voice.
After Darren asked enough questions, he moved back to his earlier spot. The won were separated from the n, but Laziel and ira’s positions were close enough.
They continued to discuss sothing in hushed whispers. Zerra didn’t an to eavesdrop, but she was quite curious...
"I haven’t asked you. How did you end up here?" Laziel’s tone was full of confusion.
ira let out a sigh. Her voice grew quieter. "Isn’t it because of you...?"
"?" Laziel was taken aback.
"I ca to find you." ira mumbled, "You said you were going to Moon Cloud City, so I took a bus there. Unexpectedly, the bus broke down halfway. There was trouble with its engine."
"Azi, you don’t know how scared I was." ira’s voice shook as she said this; her breathing was getting ragged as if she recalled so unpleasant mories.
Laziel hurriedly apologized to her, coaxing her and reassuring that she was now safer among them.
"You are going to the Capital?" ira’s voice faltered, and she completely paused for half a minute before she continued in an unsure tone. "Can I join you, guys? I promise that I won’t make trouble... My family is also in the Capital."
Laziel didn’t hesitate to agree, earning ira’s blooming smile through the dim light. She thanked him repeatedly.
The clouds had parted, allowing moonlight to stream through the window, tinted with faint red, and illuminate all the things on the earth. As night was getting deeper, voices gradually died down.
Zerra sat near Isryn, leaning against the wall, and closed her eyes. The occasional ruffling noises made people’s minds wonder where they ca from.
Those who weren’t scheduled for driving were responsible for keeping guard at night. At so point in ti, Nyra used her fire ability to light a candle around them when most people were already asleep.
Zerra was roused from her sleep when soone shook her awake. Grumpily, she turned to the source, and her gaze t ira’s worry-filled eyes. "Zerra... can you accompany to the bathroom?"
Knowing Laziel, who sotis slept like a log, ira must have tried to wake him up and failed, so she had no choice but to turn to Zerra. She just wanted to go back to sleep, but thinking of ira’s injury, she slowly sat up.
"What happened?" It was Nyra who asked this. She was not far from them, and must have heard the hushed whispers.
ira turned to her. "I want to go to the bathroom."
Nyra frowned, and she stood up. She noticed Zerra’s half-lidded eyes and told her, "You go back to sleep. I will accompany her."
"Sorry to trouble you..." ira muttered in an embarrassed voice.
"Let’s go." Nyra helped ira to stand up and spoke to the man who kept guard of their group. The man nodded at her.
Zerra no longer cared about the matter and drifted off to sleep again. She woke up again an hour later, cleaning her face with a wet tissue.
And the two won, ira and Nyra, hadn’t co back yet.
Darren was frantic when he asked around, "Have you seen them?"
She fell silent and then approached him. "Around an hour ago, they were going to the bathroom with each other."
