"Soone might be hiding in a suspicious place, like a cupboard or sothing." The man’s voice was filled with hesitation.

"Mr. Brown isn’t here tonight, so..." the man’s next words were caught in his throat. The faint flickering light didn’t manage to capture the quick movent.

One mont, the person was still staring at the cupboard alertly, and the next mont as he opened the cupboard, his head fell to the floor.

He never finished his words.

"You–" The other man stared at Zerra in terror.

Who told them to be so noisy, huh? Perhaps it was so kind of chanism to get rid of overthinking, so that they wouldn’t feel fearful and suspicious of anything around them. Sotis when it was too quiet, so people would make noise just to get rid of their unsettled feelings.

Alas, it wasn’t just their overthinking. Zerra was a real person, the killer who was waiting for them.

The man struggled to get up; running and screaming. She shot out from inside the cupboard, grabbed the man and cackled like a villain.

A knife was held to the man’s throat. He didn’t even struggle, making Zerra click her tongue in disdain. Had he forgotten he was an ability user too? But that was for the best.

"What do you want?" He sucked in a deep breath, horrified. Then, he scread loudly, "HELP! SOONE IS GOING TO KILL !"

He scread a few more tis until his voice beca hoarse, yet Zerra only stared at him like she was watching a monkey. Her knife stayed on his throat, only occasionally grazed his skin and caused him to scream louder.

However, she never actually sank her knife into his neck. The first one was a gamble whether she could sever soone’s neck in one slash. Unexpectedly, she did it.

When it ca to criminals like them, she wouldn’t even feel the slightest bit of guilt about killing them.

"What do you want?" His voice raised, terror mixed with a bit of irritation.

He had been shouting until he almost lost his voice, and no one ca. This girl must have done sothing. A horrifying thought sprouted in his mind. All the ability users near his room might have died!

They were killed by her!

But since she kept her alive, it ant he still had so use for her. Maybe he could trick her and run away when she lowered her guard...

With that thought in mind, he was a little calr.

"Cald down now? It takes quite a while." Zerra snorted. His screaming was annoying.

The man didn’t respond.

"I will ask you so questions," she muttered. "Each ti you refuse to answer, I will sink the knife deeper into your throat."

She began. "Did you say earlier that Henry isn’t here?"

Calling their leader so disrespectfully like that... the man was sure now she was soone from the Valez family. He suppressed his uneasiness and choked out a reply, "Yes!"

"Where is he?" She continued to interrogate.

"I don’t know." The man gasped fearfully when he felt the abrupt movent of the knife. He hurriedly added, "He went with so other ability users. I am not aware of the specifics. They seed to be looking for ability users in so villages..."

"They want to recruit more ability users so that we can resist the zombies better," he tremblingly said, knowing it was a lie that both of them were aware of.

"How sure are you that they are not at the base tonight? When will they co back?" She asked again.

The man thought about it for a mont. "I saw them with my own eyes, and it was a close subordinate of Mr. Brown who had told this. As for the ti they will co back, I don’t know–"

Just as he said the last word, he suddenly kicked Zerra in the knee. The dazed look on her face made him think she had lowered her guard. It was his chance.

He didn’t forget to knock the knife out of her hand, grabbing it from the floor and jumping away while holding the knife, pointing it at Zerra.

Zerra steadied herself, cracking a stiff smile to the man. Indeed, not all of Henry’s n were pushovers.

"Is what you said all true?" She tilted her head, walking closer to him.

If Henry was not at the base, it was for the better. They could execute all higher-ranked people at this base with less trouble when they found out the next morning.

Without Henry, they would be like a headless chicken. Especially when Cassias had taken it into his own hands to deal with Henry’s brother, who was in the military.

The man kept on taking a few steps back. He held the knife, pointing it toward her. "It can be true or false, who knows!"

Zerra noticed his goal now. It was the open windows. She took out her pitchfork, making him gasp in fear.

Seeing her weapon, the man turned around and ran toward the window with abandon. He didn’t forget to throw the knife at her before running away.

When he heard no footsteps chasing after him, he thought he had hurt her sohow with the knife. As such, he climbed the window with a gleeful heart.

However, just as he was about to raise his other foot, he stared at Zerra with wide eyes. Sothing was stuck in his chest. Light dimd in the darkness, and he took his last breath.

She approached him and pulled out the pitchfork. After she took out his crystal core and destroyed it, she jumped out of the window, heading to her next targets.

That night, she killed quite a lot of people, strengthening her willpower.

It was unknown what kind of commotion would happen tomorrow when they found the corpses in the dorm.

"Henry isn’t in the base?" She had asked the sa question of all the subsequent targets she found. Based on their answers, now she was sure that the first man’s words were true.

She walked toward the room at the end of the corridor and frowned. Why did this one feel so ominous? It differed from the previous room.

There was an unsettling aura coming from inside. Her senses... unable to break through to see what was inside.

She held the door handle, controlling her breath and racing heart. Maybe this place was where the scientist had lived?

Slowly, she opened the door. There was an outline of a figure inside. A pair of dark eyes t hers.
