Laziel’s face beca increasingly dark, and he took a deep breath. He snatched the bowl and tossed it away, sending the porcelain shattering on the floor and the broth water splashing.

ira let out a frightened shriek. His eyes landed on her once more, and their eyes locked briefly. She shuddered at the darkness swirling in his eyes.

The current Laziel was scary. She had never seen him like that.

There were also flashes of realization in his eyes, as if the things he had been ignoring placed themselves like missing pieces of a puzzle.

"I didn’t believe in my sisters..." he muttered, exhaling.

"Azi... I can explain..." She was a little scared of him, full of rage but was still restraining himself. But at the sight of the heartbreak on his face, she mustered her courage to speak.

She believed she still had hope of reconciling with him, like they previously always did. She just needed a good excuse, and he would let it slide...

"Save it." Laziel spat, and he took long strides toward Nyra’s place, where Zerra was also there.

He was too ashad to face them now, but... he had to make an explanation about his elder sister’s broth.

ira didn’t give up. She followed him, calling his na softly in a pleading tone. At the sound of her voice, he nearly exploded. "Shut up."

His temples throbbed. He was suddenly glad he had proposed a temporary breakup with her. Now, there was no need to take her back.

It would make things easier, especially when he didn’t expect that ira was such a sticky person, like an octopus and very insistent on following him.

"We have broken up and now have nothing to do with each other." He reminded her.

ira was in disbelief. "But... you said the breakup is only temporary. Azi..."

He evaded her hand in disgust. Her heart sank. No matter how angry he was in the past, he never gave her such an expression. It stunned her. She froze, and it gave Laziel a chance to slip away.

After he arrived at Nyra’s room, he knocked. "Elder sister, Munchkin, are you two inside?"

A slight dread entered his heart as the door opened. Zerra raised her eyebrows at him. Oops, she had opened the door too fast.

She hoped that her foolish elder brother wouldn’t realize she was practically plastering her ears on the door to listen to their argunts.

Nyra had told her that Laziel would take ira back once she recovered. She didn’t expect it to be true! Finally, now they had broken up for real.

Zerra coughed, pulling the door wide open. "Let’s go inside, elder brother."

She still had so pity, but Nyra didn’t. Nyra threw her younger brother a look. "Where is the broth?"

Laziel scratched the back of his head. He opened his mouth to answer, but soone beat him first.

"I accidentally hit the bowl, and it fell down. I am sorry." ira entered the room and apologized. Without looking at Laziel’s face, she offered. "It might not be as delicious, but I can make you a new one."

Laziel’s face hardened. Between his sister’s safety and embarrassnt, he chose the forr.

"My elder sister doesn’t need anything you touch." He snapped.

He turned to Nyra and then Zerra, who was pretending to be bewildered. Taking a deep breath, he explained, "Elder sister. I am sorry. It’s my fault. I don’t have a good eye for people."

"Glad that you realize that."

He didn’t mind Nyra’s sarcastic words and continued, "I was the one who threw your broth." He paused before pointing to ira with a darkening face. "She dripped a mutated animal’s blood into the bowl."

"Azi..." ira tried to interrupt, but Laziel wouldn’t let her.

"I also have another confession to make. Originally, the breakup between ira and was only temporary, because I still liked her. But... I don’t think I can be with soone who wants to harm my sisters and sow discord between us."

Zerra rolled her eyes. Took him long enough to realize things! At least he wasn’t stubborn and kept giving ira another chance though.

"I am sorry. Now, I realize how stupid I have been, and I don’t want to keep disappointing you both. From now on, ira and I will have nothing to do with each other," Laziel said with a determined face.

He couldn’t deny that the betrayal had hurt him severely. He had sacrificed a lot, keeping himself loyal to her even though the world had changed. Even so, she had changed.

Or, it was more fitting to say that she had exposed her true colors.

Images from the ti when he defended ira flashed in his mind. Nyra had clearly told him ira was the culprit who had locked her in that house full of zombies, and he didn’t believe her!

Then, another image flashed. ira was clearly slandering Zerra. Instead of confirming the truth, he had wronged his sister, making her still mad at him even until now.

She was interacting with him at a minimum. As if she were distancing herself from his stupidity.

"Azi, I am sorry, please give another chance..." ira begged. Tears pooled in her eyes.

She was desperate. If Laziel no longer cared about her, the life she had at the base...

Would she lose the room and facilities that only a high-level ability user could enjoy? She would turn into those dirty-looking refugees, having the minimum to eat and no water to drink.

She didn’t want that!

Now, she regretted her greediness a bit.

"No," Laziel scowled coldly. "Get out!"

"But..."

He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. When he opened his eyes again, he approached the fearful ira and dragged her out roughly.

"You should go back to the base." He gave one last kind piece of advice. His eyes were cold, conveying his intention.

He would no longer protect her again.

ira clenched her fists. Laziel was about to close the door, and in desperation, she blurted out, "Do you really pick your sister, who is about to turn into a zombie, over ?!"
