The rain fell harder with each passing minute, it did not look like it would stop at all. Thunder rolled sowhere far in the sky, but no one heard it.

Inside the villa, just monts after Liora’s body slumped motionless on the couch, sothing strange swept through the room like an invisible wave.

Ji Ming, who had been leaning against the wall by the entrance, blinked once. His mouth opened slightly, as if to speak. But no words ca out.

Then his eyes rolled back, and he collapsed silently onto the floor.

Zhao Ren, who had been sharpening a blade beside him, froze mid-motion. His fingers twitched. His lips parted in confusion. And then—he also dropped to the floor.

Without warning and without any sign of resistance.

The two strongest n in the villa lay completely still, breaths soft and shallow, faces blank of pain or fear. It was like sleep had claid them, all at once.

Even all the people who had already fallen asleep lay still without any movent.

This not only happened in their villa. Outside, in the ruined city filled with debris and fallen buildings and bloodied roads, it spread further.

In the house three blocks away, a survivor nad Liu Cheng had been pacing nervously. He was injured and paranoid, but was still alert, sleep was nowhere in his eyes. He had stacked chairs against the door and was pacing in the room with terror, today was a really strange day, he had never encountered so many zombies in a single day.

He was murmuring to himself quietly, trying to stay sane and awake.

But suddenly, his murmur stopped.

His eyes widened in confusion as he suddenly felt a foreign energy and he dropped like a puppet with its strings cut.

The room fell silent and the foreign energy did not wait for anyone, it floated just as it ca.

Every room in the house echoed with the sa silence, interrupted only by the soft fall of each body. It was like ti had been paused.

At the apartnt complex near the edge of the district, a couple was arguing in hushed tones, they were terrified of being heard by zombies. They were mid-sentence when both of them froze and felt a chill on their backs.

They looked at each other in confusion and silently asked the sa question. But before they could communicate more, their bodies slumped forward on the floor, sleeping like children.

Downstairs, the woman who had been watching through a cracked window with a knife clenched in her hand, soon the knife in her hand fell with a clang and she fell backward onto the couch, her body still stiff from fright.

The building went completely still.

Near the southern road leading out of the ruined district, inside a rundown motel surrounded by wrecked cars and rotting corpses, Xu Kai and his team were fighting tooth and nail with the zombies...

The zombies were still moving inside the motel, they had not been touched by rain at all.

The air was thick with blood. The scent of death hung in every breath.

Lin Xue’s daggers glead red. She moved like a shadow, killing without sound.

Yang Ming used his fire ability to burn the approaching undead, clearing the path for everyone.

Xu Kai stood in the center, with a gun in his hand, each bullet from his gun straight penetrated the zombie skull without missing, more and more zombies fell in front of him without even wasting a single bullet.

"We push through the west side," he ordered. "Stick together. We’ll—"

But he stopped when he felt a strange shift beside him, he hurriedly moved and pointed the gun at the presence but nothing... the space was empty without any presence but he had clearly felt an energy behind him... was he wrong...

But before he could contemplate more, his hands loosened and the gun dropped with a dull clang. His knees gave in... his eyes beca red with anger and frustration... just what happened, why can’t he move his body... however he tried to move his fingers they would not respond at all.

And even his eyes started falling heavy but he fought it with all his might. Even though his body was not responding... his mind was fully awake...

Slowly he fell on the ground as the control of his body slipped from his grasp.

"Xu Kai?" Lin Xue turned sharply, her blade still raised high.

But before she could rush to him, her breath caught in her throat and her vision started blurring.

She dropped to her knees. "What is... this..." Soon she also collapsed beside him.

Yang Ming, whose eyes beca wide with panic, tried to reach them but his body wouldn’t move as the strange energy crossed him. He twitched once before falling with his straight face. "No—"

And then silence only remained.

Three of the fiercest survivors in the region fell into deep unconsciousness... right in the middle of a swarm of zombies.

But the zombies... didn’t move at all. As it seed like they also fell victim to that strange energy.

Minutes ago, they had been rushing forward with their jaws open and claws ready to tear through human flesh.

But when the strange wave passed—They all stopped.

Every single undead froze in place like a statue.

Their eyes flickered strangely. A few tilted their heads, confused. Others simply stood, mouths open but unmoving. But soon the strange wave also did not give them a chance at all... and the weaker zombies started dropping on the ground like rag dolls.

It was as if soone had pressed pause on the entire world.

And not only in their city... Across the states and country. Across the ruins. Across every block, street, and shattered household—It kept happening.

People slumped over desks. Survivors fell mid-step. Guards collapsed beside their stations. Mothers curled around children who had already fallen asleep in their arms.

The entire world fell into a deep sleep.
