Ruel landed lightly on the ground floor, his earlier amusent replaced by a sharp, decisive urgency.

His eyes, no longer playful, scanned the terrified faces of the group.

The deafening roar from outside was a palpable presence, vibrating through the very foundations of the building.

"Listen to !" Ruel's voice cut through the cacophony, surprisingly loud and commanding.

His gaze swept over their horrified expressions.

"This isn't just a few stragglers banging on the door. Skinny's right. That's a goddamn horde out there!"

He gestured towards the shuddering barricade, his eyes wide with a grim certainty.

"This... this flimsy pile of junk isn't going to hold them for long. They'll stampede right through it!"

Boss Chen, his face pale and his usual bluster gone, stared at the door with a dawning horror.

"Stampede...?" His voice was barely a whisper, laced with disbelief. "You an... they'll just... break it down?"

Nina's eyes were wide with a primal fear, her hand clamped over her mouth as if to stifle a scream.

"Oh God..." Her gaze darted frantically around the room, searching for a nonexistent escape.

Skinny was a picture of utter terror, his eyes darting wildly, his body trembling uncontrollably.

"He's right! I saw them! They're like a wave! A black, screaming wave! We're trapped!" His voice cracked on a sob.

Big Ben, his usual stoic deanor shattered, looked at the door with a newfound dread.

His massive fra seed to shrink slightly. "Stampede...? Like... like cattle? But... they're dead!" His voice was thick with confusion and a dawning, terrifying understanding.

i Feng's face was ashen, tears streaming silently down her cheeks.

Her breath hitched in her throat, and she clutched the damp cloth to her chest as if it were a lifeline.

The sheer terror in the others' eyes mirrored her own growing despair.

Boss Chen's gaze was intense, his focus solely on the imdiate threat. "We need to move! Now! This place is a deathtrap! There has to be another way out!"

He looked around the room, his eyes scanning frantically for an alternative escape route.

"Back exit? Windows? Anything?!" The urgency in his voice was palpable, a stark contrast to his earlier detached amusent. The playful ga was over. This was about survival.

A collective cry of terror erupted as the heavy tal door below groaned, twisted, and finally burst inward with a deafening crash.

The monstrous roar of the horde intensified, flooding the ground floor hallway.

"Move! Now! Top floor!" Ruel's voice bood, cutting through the panic. His eyes, though reflecting the urgency of the situation, held a strange, detached focus as he turned and sprinted towards the stairs.

Boss Chen, his face a mask of sheer terror, scrambled after Ruel, shoving Skinny out of his way. "Run for your lives! They're through!"

Nina, her breath coming in ragged gasps, followed close behind, her eyes wide with a primal fear that spurred her onwards. "Oh God, oh God, oh God!"

Big Ben, surprisingly agile for his size in the face of imminent danger, lumbered up the stairs, his heavy breathing echoing in the narrow stairwell. "They're right behind us! Move faster!"

i Feng, however, stumbled, her legs shaky and weak.

Her earlier ordeal had taken its toll, and the sudden surge of adrenaline wasn't enough to overco her exhaustion.

She gasped, her bare feet slipping on the grimy steps, her face contorted in a desperate struggle to keep up.

"Wait! Please!" Her voice was a choked plea, barely audible above the rising tide of the zombie horde's shrieks.

But no one stopped. Fear was a selfish beast, and the sight of the ravenous horde pouring into the ground floor spurred them upwards with a desperate urgency.

Their eyes were fixed on the top floor, their own survival their only concern.

But Ruel stopped. He saw the raw terror in i Feng's eyes, the desperate reach of her hand, the utter abandonnt in her cry.

A strange stillness settled over his features, a conflict warring within him.

Then, with a decisive movent, he turned back down the stairs, against the tide of fleeing figures.

Before she could fully comprehend his intent, Ruel swiftly scooped i Feng up into his arms.

Her sudden weight surprised him, but the adrenaline coursing through him masked the effort.

i Feng gasped, clutching at his shoulders, her eyes wide with a mixture of terror and confusion.

"Ru.. Ruel...?" she whimpered, her voice choked with tears as the horrifying screams echoed closer.

"We're getting out of here!" he declared, a strange glint in his eyes. "Let carry you up there!" He started up the stairs, his movents surprisingly swift despite carrying her.

The sound of the horde seed to intensify with each step, the building vibrating with their approach.

Nina stared, her mouth agape. "Hey! What about us?!" Her voice was laced with disbelief and a hint of anger. "You can't just leave us!"

Ruel glanced back down, a grim set to his jaw. "Co on then! Unless you want to beco zombie chow!"

He didn't break his stride, his focus solely on ascending, i Feng a trembling weight in his arms.

The thrill of the escape, the desperate race against the overwhelming odds, seed to be overriding any sense of imdiate fear for himself.

Boss Chen, his face grim, finally snapped out of his shock. "He's right! Move!" He shoved Big Ben towards the stairs. "Up! Now!"

Big Ben, his usual lumbering gait replaced by a surprising urgency, started to follow Ruel, his eyes wide with a dawning understanding of the gravity of the situation.

Skinny, his face a mask of pure terror, scrambled after them, his movents jerky and uncoordinated.

As Ruel ascended, he could feel i Feng trembling against him, her breath coming in ragged gasps.

He could see the raw terror in her eyes as she glanced back down towards the ground floor, the unholy roar of the horde echoing up the stairwell.

He then lay her down on the top floor.

Following them, the remaining ca up and collapsed on the ground, their chests heaving, their faces etched with sheer terror.

The monstrous roars and the sickening thuds of the horde assaulting the floor below echoed relentlessly, a constant reminder of their precarious situation.

i, who was shivering with fear, finally couldn't hold up and shouted at Chen "Dear!.. why didn't you save when i stumbled down there?"

Hearing this, Boss Chen looked at her with a bit of guilt but thinking of his plans,

his face suddenly changed and contorted fearfully "What do you know, bitch? You are not the only one that I have to look after! I have a whole team to carry on my shoulders!"

"And you are nothing but a deadweight!" he shouted through his lungs, with the remaining energy that he had.

"Why?.." she finally couldn't hold up as tears started sliding down her cheeks.

Everyone stood aside as if it had nothing to do with them, whereas Nina had a smirk on her face while snickering inwardly.

Then suddenly they heard rumbling sounds coming up the stairs.

Boss Chen, his face ashen, ran a trembling hand through his hair. "We're trapped! There's nowhere else to go!"

His eyes darted frantically around the dusty landing, desperation clouding his usual gruff deanor.

Nina, her breath coming in ragged gasps, echoed his fear. "They'll be up here any second! That door won't hold!" Her eyes were wide with panic, darting towards the flimsy-looking door at the top of the stairs.

Skinny, his face a mask of utter terror, whimpered, huddling against the wall. "We're dead! We're all dead!" His body trembled uncontrollably.

Big Ben, his usual stoic facade completely shattered, stared down the stairwell with wide, horrified eyes. "That sound... it's getting closer..." His massive fra seed to shrink with fear.

Just then, i, her eyes still red and swollen but a flicker of sothing akin to hope igniting within them,

pointed a trembling finger towards a rickety-looking door leading to what appeared to be the rooftop terrace.

"The terrace! Maybe... maybe there's a way from there!"

They scrambled towards the door, their hopes clinging to this fragile possibility.

Bursting onto the open terrace, they were t with a gust of wind and a panoramic view of the surrounding dilapidated buildings.

Their hearts sank. There was no easy escape.

Then, Skinny, his gaze frantically scanning the adjacent buildings, suddenly pointed, his voice a choked cry of desperate hope.

"Look! Over there! The roof of that building... it's close!"

Their eyes followed his trembling finger, landing on the flat roof of a slightly taller building across a narrow alleyway.

The distance looked treacherous, a gaping chasm separating them from potential safety.

Then, Nina spotted it – a thick, weathered rope coiled haphazardly near the edge of the terrace.

Her eyes widened, a desperate plan forming in her mind. "The rope! We could... we could try to throw it over there!"

Boss Chen stared at the distance, then at the rope, his face a mixture of terror and a desperate, reckless hope. "Are you crazy?! That's suicide! We'll never make it!"

But the monstrous roars echoing from below, closer than ever, offered a stark alternative.

Desperation etched on their faces, they looked at the rope, then at the perilous gap,

the horrifying reality of their imminent demise spurring them towards a terrifying gamble.
