Darren and the team mbers made their way toward the mountains without encountering a single monster. The entire area had already been cleared out previously, making their journey strangely quiet. However, the deeper they ventured into the woods behind the mountains, the heavier the atmosphere beca.
Not until their gaze fell on low level monsters which dominated the area ahead, roaming around, guarding their territory. The mont the creatures’ gazes landed on Darren and his team, shrill growls erupted from their throats before they charged aggressively toward them without hesitation.
But Darren and the others were much faster.
"Open fire!" Darren barked coldly.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Gunshots exploded loudly as bullets pierced through monster skulls one after another. Heads burst apart violently, dark blood splattering across the ground while bodies dropped lifelessly.
"Bastards," Darren cursed under his breath, a dangerous smirk tugging at his lips as he pulled the trigger again.
The deafening gunshots echoed across the woods, attracting even more monsters from nearby areas. Soon, growls and heavy footsteps surrounded them from different directions.
Yet the team remained calm.
Bang! Bang!
Ant extended his hand slightly, his fire-control elent activating as flas coated so of the bullets being fired from his weapon. The burning rounds pierced through two monsters at once, causing them to collapse while screeching in agony.
Josh maintained steady composure as always, carefully watching everyone’s backs while shooting with precision.
Ethan remained quiet near the rear, his sharp eyes constantly scanning the terrain for danger.
One after another, the monsters fell until silence finally returned to the forest.
Heavy breaths escaped the team mbers as smoke drifted from the barrels of their guns.
Darren lowered his weapon slightly before glancing around.
Ivy had clearly inford them that there were twenty monsters within this vicinity, five of which were classified as high-level monsters.
Looking at the corpses littering the ground, there were exactly fifteen dead monsters before them.
That ant only one thing.
The remaining five were still alive.
And they were the dangerous ones.
"Those motherfuckers usually dominate specific territories," Nathan said with a heavy sigh while reloading his gun. "If soone carelessly enters their domain without preparation, it’s basically a death sentence."
The others remained silent for a mont.
Nathan was known for being brutally straightforward. Initially, he had been heavily biased against Ivy and constantly questioned her abilities. However, after personally using her dicine and witnessing its effectiveness, his attitude had gradually changed.
Josh, on the other hand, was the oldest among them and acted as the team’s diator. Calm-headed and level-minded, he often prevented argunts from escalating.
Then there was Anthony....better known as Ant who possessed the fire-control elent and had a habit of speaking recklessly despite being reliable in battle.
Ethan was quiet and observant, soone who preferred analyzing situations carefully before acting. His terrain manipulation ability made him extrely useful during combat.
And finally, Darren....the current leader of the group.
"Mrs. Ivy never ntioned those bastards wouldn’t co out to attack us," Nathan muttered irritably as his gaze shifted toward the nearby buildings. "I seriously hate the idea of entering houses to fight monsters."
"How about you manipulate the terrain again, Ethan?" Josh suggested while raising an eyebrow. "That should at least give us so advantage."
Ethan frowned slightly. "It didn’t exactly help much the last ti we got ambushed."
Ant released a dry chuckle before shrugging. "Yeah, and we nearly died that day too."
"Our guns have been upgraded now," Josh reminded calmly. "That alone increases our chances of winning."
Then his eyes suddenly narrowed.
"Besides..."
He slowly pointed toward the right side of the area.
The others followed his gaze imdiately.
Five doors stood side by side ahead of them.
"...why are we wasting ti?" Josh continued. "There are exactly five doors. That probably ans each high-level monster occupies one room."
"...Fuck." Darren let out a disbelieving chuckle before shaking his head lightly. "That’s actually true."
A dangerous grin soon appeared on his face.
"Then let’s get to work."
The others exchanged glances before moving toward the doors cautiously.
However, Ethan suddenly frowned.
"And how exactly do we know which one is the most dangerous?" he asked nervously while swallowing hard. "They’re all high-level monsters, but so are obviously stronger than the others."
By now, the others had already positioned themselves in front of separate doors.
Darren glanced back at him before smirking lightly.
"Just go in and stop acting like a coward," he replied teasingly. "Your gun literally spits fire now, brother."
Before Ethan could respond, Darren kicked his door open and stepped inside.
The others quickly followed suit, disappearing into their respective rooms and leaving Ethan standing outside alone.
Ethan stared at the remaining door with visible hesitation.
"...Or what if one room contains two monsters?" he muttered under his breath. "Or worse... all of them?"
The thought alone made his stomach tighten anxiously.
But just as he was contemplating whether to follow them or not....
Bang!
A loud crashing sound suddenly echoed from one of the rooms.
The next second, Nathan, Josh, and Ant ca rushing back out almost simultaneously, their expressions far more serious than before.
"Fuck, man! That was just a single room. No monster at all," Josh was the first to speak, disbelief clearly written across his face.
The others looked equally stunned.
"Damn..." Ant muttered while running a hand through his hair. "Does that an Darren is in there fighting all the five monsters alone?"
The realization instantly made everyone’s expressions darken.
