Chapter 71: Chapter 071: Village Doctor Keeps dicine Privately, Su Shu Misunderstands

He really wanted them all, but Su Shu was an outsider after all. Would anyone really be willing to part with so many dicinal supplies?

Su Shu said, “This is all I have. I’m not sure if it’ll last until rescue arrives.”

“This is already a lot, thank you, thank you!”

The village doctor kept thanking her. The villagers waiting for treatnt around them could hear their conversation and knew how precious the three boxes of dicine were. They all thanked Su Shu, who kept saying it was nothing, and, after ntioning she hadn’t expected her reserves to be of help, she started helping the village doctor dress simple wounds.

The village doctor, seeing her skillful bandaging, was surprised, “Miss Su, are you a nurse?”

“I’m not, I don’t know dical techniques,” she replied as she bandaged a villager who had head injuries treated by another village doctor.

...

“I thought you might be dical personnel, seeing how skillful you are at bandaging.”

“I learned so ergency aid bandaging from soone else,” Su Shu explained as she cut off the end of the bandage with scissors.

“I see, you’ll have to bear with us then.”

“No problem.”

Initially, Su Shu had ti to attend to other things but as it grew darker and more people arrived with increasingly severe injuries, she beca busier and the dical supplies were rapidly depleting. However, the village doctor had his apprentice take a box of dicines sowhere else for temporary storage.

Su Shu didn’t understand, “Isn’t that box needed?”

While saying this, Su Shu’s tone was a bit grave. She had intended for all the dicine in the “space” to be used for Peng Village’s villagers, not to be hoarded for others’ private use in a crisis.

Seeing her displeased expression, the village doctor realized she had misunderstood and quickly explained.

“Miss, you forgot, there are still many people trapped deep in the mountains, their fate unknown. If they return, they will also need treatnt. I thought it best to keep one box in reserve just in case. We can use these two boxes here with the thought they might hold us through.”

The village doctor’s explanation made sense, especially since the villagers trapped in the mountains were mostly the main breadwinners from each household. If they were seriously injured or couldn’t be treated in ti, even after the earthquake, it would be a heavy blow to each family.

When everyone heard the dicine was being saved for the n coming back from the mountain, those who had initially reacted like Su Shu no longer thought much about it.

After all, what would they do if the dicine ran out by the ti the n returned from the mountains?

Realizing she had misunderstood soone’s good intent, Su Shu apologetically said, “I’m sorry, I misunderstood.”

The village doctor smiled lightly, “Miss Su, to hear you say that makes feel embarrassed. We can barely thank you enough for the dicines, let alone harbor other thoughts. Now, co help bandage this uncle’s arm.”

“Sure, okay.”

Not one to fuss, Su Shu apologized for misunderstanding others’ good intentions and devoted herself to assisting the village doctor with the treatnts. It was getting darker, and they needed to do as much as they could before nightfall.

After a while, Grandpa Peng was carried back by a few villagers, causing Su Shu to jump in fright.

“What happened to Grandpa?”

Feng Hua was a ss, her face sared with sweat-mixed gri.

Swallowing, she called out, “Is there any water? Get so!”

Su Shu quickly brought it over, and Feng Hua took it to Grandpa Peng’s side, painstakingly helping him drink. After a while, Grandpa Peng finally opened his eyes and looked around with dim eyes.

“I’m alright, help up; I still need to go and dig out Shuanzi’s father!”
