Chapter 34: Chapter 034 I Refuse to Believe I Can’t Cure You

After parting with his good friend, Tang Zelin climbed the stairs with his car keys in hand.

Upon opening the door, he happened to encounter his father’s subordinate coming out with a briefcase, smiling and greeting him, “It’s noon, won’t you stay for lunch?”

Chen Cheng did not expect that upon opening the door, he would encounter the young group captain of the Tang Family, whose reputation preceded him. Startled for a second, he smiled and extended his hand, “Chen Cheng, just transferred to the staff office.”

“Tang Zelin.” He shook hands openly. “How’s the chief’s mood today?”

Chen Cheng replied, “Seems not too good.”

Tang Zelin nodded in understanding, “Need a ride?”

“No need, I drove,” he said, pointing to a military vehicle beside him.

“Then take care, I won’t see you out.”

After exchanging greetings, Tang Zelin went inside, and as Chen Cheng descended the steps and walked a few paces, he suddenly stopped, turned back to glance at the spot where Tang Zelin had disappeared, and couldn’t help but chuckle.

Two strangers who had never seen each other before managed to chat so much upon their first eting; this illustrious military scion wasn’t as unyielding and aloof as the rumors suggested. However, his deanor was remarkable, commanding an innate control over everything around him. In just a brief encounter, he had dealt with his new subordinate from the B Military Region’s father so comfortably, not causing any awkwardness—definitely not an ordinary man.

Chen Cheng gradually developed a rather good impression of Group Captain Tang, who was said to always be on duty at the border defense forces in C city.

On his way here, the slight doubts about his future unknowingly faded sowhat due to this little interlude. He couldn’t quite make sense of it yet, but his mood had certainly brightened.

As soon as he entered the house, Tang Zelin slled the aroma of top-grade Dahongpao tea.

It seed his old man was sowhat irritable; every ti his mood deteriorated, he would calm his thoughts with Dahongpao tea.

“Dad.”

A curt, cold grunt.

Tang Zelin pocketed his keys, changed into a pair of slippers, and walked over to the sofa next to his father, Tang Husheng, and sat down.

“The mood’s quite good, eh? The tea’s nice; I could sll its fragrance the mont I entered.”

Tang Husheng, now in his fifties, had a stalwart appearance and a resolute face. Without speaking a word, his stern look was commanding, even though ti had marked him with age, you could still see the handso and valiant deanor from his youth. Father and son sitting together, they resembled each other by about seventy to eighty percent.

The remaining twenty to thirty percent of Zelin was inherited from his late mother, who hailed from a scholarly family, bringing a refined and genteel air to his presence.

Therefore, Tang Husheng was extrely proud to have such an outstanding son in his life.

But!

A son grown can’t be kept by his father’s side!

He’d carried a gun and artillery for the country all his life, his body riddled with bullet holes over the years. Having reached middle age, with only two bachelors in the family, his son continued in his footsteps, always heading into danger.

At his age, all the other old n in the compound had little grandchildren hopping around and calling them grandpa.

Except him!

He spent every day with his heart in his throat, worrying about his son.

He wanted him to take a break, co ho, arrange a proper marriage, find a wife to settle down with and have children. Why was that so difficult?

Old Yuan said he had introduced him to more than a dozen suitable girls; upon inquiry, not a single one was willing. On the rare occasion one agreed to give it a try, they couldn’t even find where he was.

Tang Husheng slamd his teacup onto the table with a thud and said in a deep voice, “Speak.”

Tang Zelin picked up two peanuts and looked up, puzzled, “Speak about what?”

“What kind of girl do you want? Age, looks, figure, personality, hobbies, family background… Detail everything. I don’t care about whether it’s a suitable match anymore. Before you go back to the troops, you must find a daughter-in-law. I know what you want to do when you go back—lead the team into the mountains for training, right? Fine, I am not unreasonable. Want to lead the team? Fine, but once a daughter-in-law cos through the door, you can roll back to the mountains. Without a daughter-in-law, you’re going to stay and continue these blind dates!”
