Chapter 206: Chapter 205: So Warmth Is t With Late Regret (15) Chapter 206: Chapter 205: So Warmth Is t With Late Regret (15) More than a month had passed since the outbreak of the Apocalypse, and survival efforts had shifted from citizens to newly established living areas.

It was then that many people understood that among those who had previously gone to the mountains to assist the governnt, a group was there to help establish new living quarters.

The following day, the entire city’s relocation efforts officially began.

The number of people being relocated was massive, and in order to reduce the burden and lower the incidence of problems, the principle of voluntariness was adopted.

In other words, post-Apocalypse living could either join the governnt’s security system for increased safety or opt for self-governing organizations. If one could be self-sufficient, staying in one’s own ho was not opposed.

However, to avoid issues of chaos like before, the governnt designated boundaries within the centralized military and semi-military zones.

Citizens outside these boundaries, for whatever reasons, had to enter the governnt managent system. In the semi-military zones within both the managed and unmanaged military districts, one could freely choose, but had to undergo regular governnt censuses.

Su Shu had no hesitation; she had co early on to secure a spot in the First Safe Zone of Xinshan precisely for the blue quota.

Citizens with severe disaster-affected blue identities, based on their initial blue cards, could apply to choose between areas A, B, and C of the First District.

Area A was on the mountain, with a colder climate and lower air pressure;

Area B was on the mid-mountain, where both climate and living environnt were the best;

Area C was at the foot of the mountain, neither particularly good nor bad, more convenient for living, but Su Shu was aware that more people would accumulate there over ti.

With more people, problems were more likely to arise.

Carrying her suitcase and pulling Xiao’ai along, Su Shu relocated with the Luo Family and the Ge couple.

The governnt provided two modes of relocation. Since Xinshan living area was a certain distance from East City, public vehicles were provided for relocation—to be used free of charge, but requiring registration and queuing, overseen by ard police to maintain order.

Due to the sheer number of people, the wait for these vehicles was interminably long, which gave rise to private transportation services during the move.

The town had just beco paralyzed, but so were still able to find gasoline. The governnt did not inquire where these resources ca from, and as long as no laws were violated, they did not intervene.

So people, quick-witted, realized that one could not naively expect to return to the old ways of life after the city’s system had collapsed.

Therefore, many had already started arranging for private transportation even before hearing the news of the relocation.

Outside the East City Gymnasium, many private cars had gathered.

This included many who had heard the news from other regions, hoping to cash in. Of course, the fare wasn’t paid with money, but with any goods that might be useful for surviving the Apocalypse.

As long as drivers and passengers could agree on the value of the goods for the “fare,” the transaction could proceed.

Su Shu didn’t want to arrive too late and miss out on the best spots, so she was inclined towards private car transportation.

The Luo Family, although they had saved up so food, hesitated since food was now more valuable than gold.

The Ge couple, even more so, didn’t have much to spare.

If the three families moved together, it would not only reduce the danger but also allow them to pick the best spots together. Su Shu thought that, having spent ti with either the Luo Family or the Ge couple, they had a certain understanding of each other. Living together in the future would surely be better than with strangers, and with Xiao’ai in tow, Su Shu’s need for safety was paramount.

Thus, she leaned towards the idea of the three families becoming neighbors.

But she was very clear in her heart that after the Apocalypse, one could absolutely not afford to be too kind-hearted. To gain sothing, one had to give sothing in return.

So after she proposed the idea, she didn’t press the issue, waiting to see each family’s attitude.

If they disagreed, she won’t press the issue.

But she suggested an alternative way, “For the fare, I’ll talk to the driver and pay it. Once we reach the new living area, there will be so physical labor I can’t do. Luo Gang, would you be willing to lend a hand? It can count as your family’s share of the fare. And Mr. Ge, I know you’re an engineer, could you help check out the structure of my new ho upon arrival? It can count as the fare for this trip. What do you think?”

Luo Gang thought for a mont and agreed, “Alright.”

Mr. Ge smiled slightly, “Since you’ve put it that way, Su Shu, I won’t feel burdened taking advantage of you.”
