Chapter 135: Chapter 134: An Apocalyptic Life from Scratch (8)

A boy, who had yet to unfurl, spoke as if he commanded thousands of troops behind him. A single cold remark coupled with that oppressive gaze and the chilly aura enveloping him silenced the room instantly.

She gazed at him, and of course, he also saw her.

As their eyes t, they each read a sense of cold indifference and estrangent in the other’s gaze.

Whether it was the harshness of his words or that they struck exactly the right chord, the middle-aged man was left speechless and unsure how to retort.

Su Shu leaned over to ask Xiao’ai, “Have you eaten your fill?”

Xiao’ai nodded her head.

Su Shu rose to her feet, picked up Xiao’ai, and walked past the onlookers and that “knight in shining armor” of a boy before her, with her expression constantly changing, as she seed to leave the restaurant reluctantly.

“So ill-mannered!”

A voice of rebuke finally ca from behind after much delay.

Su Shu let out a cold laugh.

At the elevator entrance, digits from the 19th floor below were seen descending.

Su Shu held Xiao’ai and waited until the numbers dropped to 2 before realizing soone had suddenly appeared behind her.

She reflexively turned around only to see the youth from the restaurant.

Turning back, he wasn’t looking down at her; hands stuffed in his pockets, he stared straight ahead with tightly pursed lips, his entire deanor broadcasting a clear “Don’t ss with ; I’m not in the mood.”

The elevator doors slowly opened, then closed.

Xiao’ai suddenly leaned forward, reaching out with a tiny finger to press the button for the 12th floor, and after succeeding, nestled back into Su Shu’s arms, visibly pleased with herself.

Out of nowhere, a long arm reached over, nearly brushing past Su Shu’s ear, startling her, causing her to quickly sidestep, making room for him.

Teng Fei pressed the button for the 28th floor and, retracting his hand, his aloof gaze flicked across Su Shu, accompanied by what seed like a faint snort.

Imdiately after, Su Shu heard the person behind her take two steps back.

Beads of sweat ford on her forehead.

The thoughts of a teenager in the throes of puberty were indeed elusive.

When the elevator reached the 12th floor, the doors slowly opened.

Su Shu, holding Xiao’ai, was about to step out when the boy behind her suddenly spoke.

It seed to be an inquiry directed at her or perhaps a musing for himself.

“What’s the point of living such a ager life? It might be better to die like them, putting an end to everything.”

Su Shu, holding Xiao’ai, turned to look at him. The cold derision and self-mocking smile on the young man’s face gradually disappeared as the elevator doors slowly closed.

Standing in front of the elevator, she watched the adjacent numbers ascend continuously until they reached the 28th floor before she snapped back to reality.

“What kind of person says sothing so unexpected and chilling?”

Turning towards 1209, living was just about being alive; it didn’t need to have a aning, being alive was enough.

“Miss Su has returned.”

The floor attendant happened to et her head-on. In light of Su Shu’s “feat” from the day before, she had beco quite well-known in the hotel, leading to the attendants treating her with a bit of deference.

“Yes, hello.”

If you need to clean the room, you can call the front desk,” said the attendant, aiming to break the awkward silence.

“Alright.”

As they parted ways, Su Shu suddenly turned around to ask, “Does the hotel’s guest floors go up to 28? I noticed that’s the highest number on the button.”

The attendant paused, turned back, and said, “No, the guest room service only goes up to the 25th floor, with the middle floors designated as work areas. The 28th floor is an open-air rooftop. Is there sothing you need help with?”

“An open-air rooftop?”

“Yes, when the weather is nice, it serves as an observation deck, but now…” She hesitated for a mont before adding, “It should be closed by now.”

Su Shu, recalling the youth’s unexpected comnt and the button for the 28th floor, suddenly paled and, freeing a hand, swiftly grabbed the attendant.

“Quick, soone needs rescuing! They’ve gone up to the rooftop!”
