Chapter 28: Nail Gun Upgrade [Light Sniper Nail Gun]
Still in the hardware store on the second floor, Jiang Cheng didn’t waste any ti and directly asked the system.
“System, I want to upgrade this indirect nail gun again. Do you have any good options?”
“Ding! There are three secondary upgrade options for the indirect nail gun, each requiring different materials and points.”
The system’s voice imdiately responded.
Three options for the second upgrade?
Jiang Cheng was slightly surprised, considering there had only been two options during the first upgrade. He imdiately asked, “What are the three options?”
“Ding! The three options are the direct nail gun option, the mid-tier indirect nail gun option, and the heavy-duty indirect nail gun option.”
“I’ve already looked into the first one; it uses gunpowder as a power source with an effective range of 30 ters. What’s the difference between the second and third options?”
“Ding! The mid-tier indirect nail gun uses more powerful compressed air as a power source, with an effective range of 40 ters. It has the power to penetrate 8mm thick iron plates within 10 ters and can load twenty nails at once. It requires six materials and 100 points!”
“The heavy-duty indirect nail gun uses triple-strength compressed air as a power source, with an effective range of 150 ters. It has the power to penetrate 8mm thick iron plates within 80 ters and can load five steel nails at once. It requires eight materials and 100 points!”
The system explained.
“This mid-tier indirect nail gun is even more powerful than the direct nail gun, and it costs 20 more points. As for this heavy-duty indirect nail gun …”
Jiang Cheng considered the system’s description of the heavy-duty indirect nail gun. “An effective range of 150 ters and it can only load five steel nails at a ti—this is pretty much a light sniper rifle.”
The utility of this weapon for him was obvious. The image of that evolved zombie getting shot in the head on TV last night was still fresh in his mory.
With this, he would have a way to deal with those evolved zombies if he encountered them again!
“In that case, I’ll need to make another indirect nail gun.”
Fortunately, the materials required for the mid-tier indirect nail gun were relatively common, aside from the need for an indirect nail gun itself. The other five materials—one compressed air valve, two pounds of pig iron, two spray cans, ten centiters of copper wire, and twenty nails—were easy to find.
Having already scoured the hardware section multiple tis while searching for materials to upgrade the indirect nail gun last ti, Jiang Cheng roughly rembered where most of the materials were located. Only the search for the compressed air valve took a bit of effort.
For the heavy-duty indirect nail gun, in addition to the indirect nail gun itself, the other seven materials were one compressed air valve, three pounds of steel, three spray cans, a 60-centiter steel pipe with a diater of one centiter, five steel nails, four magnifying glasses, and a block of wood.
These materials were also not difficult to find. Aside from the wood, which required a trip to the furniture section, the rest could all be found in the hardware section. Jiang Cheng gathered them all while collecting materials for the mid-tier indirect nail gun.
Once he had all the materials, Jiang Cheng imdiately spent 100 points to select the mid-tier indirect nail gun option, upgrading the indirect nail gun in his hand.
Then, he spent another 10 points to modify a regular nail gun into an indirect nail gun to et the requirents for upgrading to the heavy-duty indirect nail gun.
It didn’t take long to complete the upgrades—only about ten minutes in total.
All the materials on the floor had now disappeared, replaced by two brand-new nail guns.
One appeared to be smaller than before, while the other was larger and longer.
Jiang Cheng first picked up the smaller one, the mid-tier indirect nail gun.
It was much smaller than before, now just slightly larger than his palm, with an appearance similar to that of a handgun. The difference was that its hamr area had two five-centiter square air canisters attached side by side, along with a small air pump beneath it.
“The original five-centiter diater, twenty-centiter-long air canisters have shrunk down considerably. But the handling has improved, and it’s much more compact and portable.”
Jiang Cheng nodded in satisfaction as he examined it.
“Let’s see how powerful it is.”
He unlocked the safety, aid at a nearby shelf, and pulled the trigger.
Bang!
Thud!
The sound of the gun firing and the tal being pierced happened almost simultaneously.
Jiang Cheng engaged the safety and walked over to the shelf he had aid at, intending to see where the nail had ended up.
To his surprise, the nail had penetrated through three adjacent shelves, leaving small holes in each of them, and he still hadn’t found the nail!
The tal on these shelves wasn’t particularly thick, but each shelf had two layers of tal, and they were spaced two ters apart!
Yet the nail had passed through three of them, and it wasn’t until the fourth shelf that Jiang Cheng finally found the nail!
The power of this gun was undoubtedly impressive!
“Maybe the short distance had sothing to do with it.”
Jiang Cheng smiled in satisfaction, then put away the mid-tier indirect nail gun.
As for the heavy-duty indirect nail gun, it was indeed similar to what he had expected—a light sniper rifle, resembling an SKS in appearance. The difference was that the hamr area had three square air canisters arranged in a triangular formation.
Picking it up, Jiang Cheng felt a familiar sensation, and he quickly realized, “It seems the advanced comprehensive close combat skills also include so knowledge on how to handle a light sniper rifle.”
This nail gun was incredibly powerful, so to avoid alerting the zombies outside the supermarket, Jiang Cheng decided not to test its full power.
Instead, he turned around, found two large tote bags, and placed the gun inside. He then scoured the hardware section for nails and steel nails, clearing out everything he found and packing them into the bags.
“The bags still aren’t full—let’s grab a few knives as backups.”
He then found a few sharp waterlon knives and added them to the bags.
“That should be enough. Let’s load this into the vehicle and head back to the fifth floor for so food. If I don’t get back soon, Liu Yuqing might get worried.”
Jiang Cheng carried the two tote bags to the restroom window, instructed Jarvis to open the armored vehicle’s sunroof, and then jumped down from the second floor onto the vehicle’s roof, placing the bags filled with nails and steel nails inside the vehicle.
When he returned to the fifth floor and approached the restaurant, he was greeted by the enticing aroma of food even before entering.
