The door wasn't locked and gently pushed open.

The room was filled with humidity, but it didn't seem dangerous.

After confirming there was no issue, Lu Xi'an and Yao Wei carried Gou and went inside.

The doors and windows of the house were sealed, so to see inside, they needed Gou's eyes for the light.

Lu Xi'an had Gou look for any hidden compartnts while he and Yao Wei checked the surface of things in the room.

The room had tables and chairs, and there was a bed in the corner, covered with a sheet. It was thin but neatly and tidily laid, much like those preserved perfectly at the 923 Base.

The owner of this "Mushroom Eater's House" must have been a clean and delicate person. To keep this place so spotless and orderly didn't seem like sothing a mushroom eater would do.

Who among the mushroom eaters around here wasn't off their head?

Lu Xi'an and Yao Wei lifted the sheets, checked under the bed, opened drawers, and moved the table, looking for any clues left behind by the forr mushroom eaters here.

They really found a notebook and a pen in a drawer.

The pen was already broken, the ink inside dried out. One glance could tell it was useless for writing.

The notebook, however, was well-preserved. Its black cover was sturdy and soft, perfectly intact. The pages inside were slightly darkened at the front, but the rest were clean and tidy, seemingly unwritten.

"Gou, is there anything else hidden here?"

Lu Xi'an asked it first.

After seeing Gou's eyes flicker twice, indicating 'no', he picked up the notebook with the black cover and opened it. The first line read:

Found a notebook and a pen. Great, I'll start writing a diary today.

He was taken aback. Such a familiar line.

"What's wrong?!"

Yao Wei noticed Lu Xi'an's abnormal reaction and asked.

Lu Xi'an said, "I also found a notebook and a pen back then, and the first line was the sa..."

"Ah."

Yao Wei was a little surprised, but she didn't care much about why the diaries of two people were so coincidentally written the sa way. Instead, she was concerned about another matter.

"What did you write in your diary? Can I have a look?"

Yao Wei stared at Lu Xi'an and asked.

"..."

Lu Xi'an remained silent for a while and said, "What's there to see in a diary!"

Actually, he didn't think there was anything in the diary that Yao Wei couldn't see. He had already told Yao Wei about being a Transmigrator, and he had no secrets from her.

But the rants in the diary, letting Yao Wei see them, would feel a bit embarrassing...

"Oh..."

Yao Wei didn't insist, just nodded after hearing Lu Xi'an's words.

But Lu Xi'an could see that she seed a bit unhappy, so he said, "I didn't write much in that diary. It's in my bag. I'll show you when we get in the car."

Only then did Yao Wei look happy again and nodded, "Okay."

The two continued to read the diary.

This diary was sowhat different from Lu Xi'an's. It didn't have dates, just one entry after another, each made up of one or several paragraphs, separated by a line.

The later diary entries indeed recorded what happened after the mushroom eater found the notebook.

This notebook and pen were seen by the mushroom eater in the mushroom forest. Lu Xi'an suspected that the so-called mushroom forest was the area he and Yao Wei had just passed through.

The diary said that when the mushroom eater found the notebook, it already had a few pages written and drawn on and was abandoned in the mushroom forest.

The written words on those pages looked like ghostly scribbles, probably drawn by soone hallucinating from eating too many mushrooms.

Lu Xi'an was sowhat curious about what those drawings by soone overdosing on mushrooms would look like, but unfortunately, he couldn't see them.

Back then, the mushroom eater had torn off those pages to use as toilet paper. Those imaginative creations of the mushroom eaters have probably turned to dust by now, becoming nutrients for the mushrooms in the forest.

The diary writer, a mushroom eater, said the mushroom forest was truly formidable. It was fortunate that he was a Neo-Human; otherwise, he would not have survived the forest.

After coming out, he discovered this house. The mushroom eater cleaned it up, built tables, chairs, and a bed, placed them inside the house, and laid a sheet that he brought from elsewhere over his wooden bed.

Then he nailed a wooden board above the door with the words "Mushroom Eater's House" carved on it.

Unfortunately, compared to writing, carving was quite difficult. He carved the five words crookedly, looking quite ugly, but nothing he could do about it.

After changing several pieces, he couldn't get it right. What could he do?

The mushroom eater settled here, sotis going elsewhere to find food, but sotis when he was too lazy to move, he would visit the mushroom forest, stay there briefly, and pick so mushrooms to eat.

He relied solely on his Neo-Human body's resilience, getting only a little poisoned each ti, and always managed to get through it.

But over ti, he beca unable to endure it. His body grew weaker, harder to sustain. Eating mushrooms even started causing hallucinations as if he returned to the past.

Pages were torn from the diary. After the torn pages, the mushroom eater candidly wrote about those pages that were drawn with ghostly scribbles in his confused and unclear state, having no aning, thus were torn.

Lu Xi'an fancied there was aning and wanted to see them, but it was just a thought. They were torn and long gone, who knows how many years have passed since, and what use was there in wanting to see?

He flipped to the last written page of the diary and saw so paragraphs:

Lately, it's getting worse. The ti spent dazed after eating mushrooms is getting longer and longer.

I guess I'm old now. I keep reminiscing about the past lately, even hallucinating about it after eating mushrooms.

I sowhat regret it now, with all these years gone by, I should have gone back to have a look, so why didn't I return?

In this world, I've hardly t any good people. That little guy from the north was the only exception.

Really don't know if he's still living there, has he grown up?

Thinking it over, it's probably hard...

This darn world, it's tough living here.

What made leave there back then?

Forgot, never mind, won't think about it...

It's too late to think while things are like this.

Wanting to go back for a look, this body can't go back. But in any case, the ti spent here has been quite comfortable and happy, no regrets.

Now it's ti to die; might as well go into the mushroom forest. In this damned world, to have one last grand dream before an eternal rest is a great blessing!
