It’s truly amazing!

Lu Xi’an marveled in his heart.

He had seen many kinds of ants: those that built nests in the ground, those that built nests on leaves, and even those that built fortresses by piling up earth high. So ants didn’t build nests at all, but occupied those built by other creatures.

But he had never seen ants build nests with their own bodies before.

Is this a new way of life ford after the ants of the new world gradually mutated?

Just like those chickens on Qin Mountain.

Or was this sothing that already existed in this world, but he was too ignorant of it because he ca from another world?

In just a short while, Ant Mountain had transford from a black mountain into a completely white one, glistening in its whiteness, blending in with the snowy world around it, no longer standing out as it did before.

The entire world was covered in a layer of white, including the roof of the RV, and on Lu Xi’an and Yao Wei’s shoulders and heads.

The two returned to the car, helping each other brush off the snow from their clothes. Yao Wei asked, "Aren’t those ants afraid of dying off completely?"

Lu Xi’an thought for a mont and said, "They probably aren’t afraid. The Ant Queen is generally quite prolific."

He then explained to Yao Wei the survival thods of most ants, including the high level of organization within ant colonies and the Ant Queen’s control over the entire colony.

After hearing Lu Xi’an’s account, Yao Wei exclaid, "That’s really impressive!"

She rarely found animals impressive—Gou didn’t count as an animal—but these ants were indeed remarkable.

In today’s world, civilization has regressed, with only small settlent organizations visible from south to north, and no nations. Yet these ants had managed to form their own ant kingdom.

From this perspective, the level of ant civilization had already surpassed that of current humans, hadn’t it?

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, the right to survive is not tied to the level of civilization.

Even in the old world, an ant kingdom that had developed to its peak couldn’t survive a pot of hot water poured in by a playful child.

And now, even if these insects had developed special traits due to the original injection of fungus into the world, they were still just insects. Moreover, Type C Neo-Humans could still easily control them.

"Yes, truly remarkable."

Lu Xi’an said.

The two no longer continued to observe the ants, leaving the task of monitoring the ant colony to Gou. Once night fell, they went to bed to rest.

After changing into their pajamas and lying on the bed, Lu Xi’an habitually held the sa Fungus Stone with Yao Wei.

They naturally chose the piece they got from Hu Xiaodong’s hands, as it provided greater benefits for the two of them as Type A Neo-Humans.

As for the other two Fungus Stones, they placed them by the bedside.

As they did every night, they put their hands together, held the Fungus Stone, and settled into a comfortable position. Lu Xi’an then closed his eyes, preparing to sleep.

But at that mont, he suddenly felt a soft and warm sensation on his lips, causing him to open his eyes again.

He then saw Yao Wei also had her eyes open. Her calm, still eyes were so close to him, looking so large and captivating.

He seed to see ripples gently spreading out beneath the calm surface of her gaze, reaching into his heart.

He hadn’t expected Yao Wei to suddenly be so forward.

—Yao Wei was always the initiator; Lu Xi’an knew this well, so he wasn’t surprised by it.

Lu Xi’an was just a little caught off guard by Yao Wei’s sudden boldness tonight.

But since Yao Wei had already made the first move, how could he not reciprocate?

Lu Xi’an imdiately pressed forward, actively reciprocating with Yao Wei.

Only his entanglent remained controlled, adhering to the agreent he had with Yao Wei, only embracing and entangling with this gradually heating woman, without crossing any further boundaries.

He did not expect, however, that his controlled restraint would be broken by Yao Wei’s initiative.

The woman’s eyes slowly squinted, seemingly fully engrossed. Lu Xi’an watched the slightly trembling eyelashes close at hand, uncertain whether Yao Wei had her eyes closed.

He seed to be infected, unknowingly ending his observation and focused fully on their interaction.

But at that mont, he suddenly felt his mouth empty, as the soft touch slid down from his lips to his chin, face, neck, and earlobe, leaving a cool moisture in its wake, causing him to pause in confusion.

Yao Wei, however, slightly withdrew her head and asked, "Is this right?"

This woman had taken the next step forward...

"Aren’t you afraid of losing control?"

Lu Xi’an stared into Yao Wei’s eyes that were gradually becoming gentle, "As you’ve said before, you’re playing with fire."

Feeling the woman’s warm breath, Lu Xi’an could hear her heartbeat becoming rapid.

This woman was gradually losing control again, which was unusual for her...

"I can handle it."

Yao Wei’s eyes were fixed on Lu Xi’an’s as she spoke, "Before they co, I don’t know why, but I suddenly wanted to say the words I had been holding back... just like this.

"After the fight, I actually didn’t want to think about it anymore, but you insisted on asking . I thought for a long ti and felt that I shouldn’t, and that if I say sothing, I should follow through.

"But... if we do it now, we can’t continue south... So I can only go back on my word.

"But after thinking about it for a day, I feel like I shouldn’t break my promise. I clearly already told you... should we not go all the way to the last step? Is that okay?"

Lu Xi’an suddenly widened his eyes: "You still want to have a child?!"

Yao Wei pursed her lips, her eyes rippling gently, making Lu Xi’an feel as if his heart skipped a beat.

This kind of reluctant yet alluring charm, had he ever seen such on Yao Wei’s face before?

But now, he did see it indeed.

However, Yao Wei was not the kind of woman who would hide anything, and her apparent reluctance was just a facade. After thinking for a mont, she spoke, "There are six of them, and I know one of them has a Fungus Stone, but we also rely on Fungus Stone to enhance our strength.

"Not to ntion the Fungus Stone, there are five of them, which far exceed us, and there is also that leader that woman spoke of before, powerful enough to control three Type A Neo-Humans and one Type B Neo-Human.

"At that ti, I felt that the gap in strength between us was too big, and if we couldn’t win... I wanted to win, and felt like we might be able to win... but I was still afraid we might lose..."

She was speaking in a rather confused manner, but Lu Xi’an could understand her feelings at the ti.

When seeing the red dots moving on the Resonant Gene Scanner map, how was Lu Xi’an not the sa?

He made decisions with such positivity and calmness, arranging himself, arranging Yao Wei, arranging Gou, the RV, drones, and also so many hidden weapons and sniper rifles.

All resources that could be used were calculated in his mind, put to use. He watched the red dots coming in batches on the map, on the surface feeling that he and Yao Wei had no problem, that they could get through this, but deep down, he was still anxious.

Amidst the anxiety, there was still so hidden fear.

Five.

The two of them faced with five Type A Neo-Humans, having to confront them head-on.

This was sothing they had never experienced before.

If it hadn’t been for the prolonged nourishnt of the Fungus Stone and the training thods in the "Secret Martial Arts Manual," they would have been dood in this battle.

Facing the enemy, they were indeed confronting possible death.

Therefore, in the face of that uncertainty of life and death, Yao Wei would say words filled with hope and indulgence.

If he hadn’t suddenly beco superstitious, afraid of jinxing things, he might have said sothing too?

Fortunately, the feared incident did not happen, everything developed according to their plan, they won and gained everything.

Yet the surge of emotions and passion that arose before the battle had not subsided, but rather secretly magnified with the victory of the battle.

"We’ve already fought."

He reached out to hold Yao Wei’s cheek, turned over on top of her, "So I’m just going to ignore it, leave the matter of fire control to you."

But Yao Wei suddenly reached out and blocked him, gently biting her lip, saying: "You... control it together with ."

Lu Xi’an couldn’t hold back any longer, letting out a muffled "Mm."

...

The biting cold wind howled, the snow had fallen for most of the night, leaving the outside world covered in a vast expanse of white.

After sitting up and putting on her pajamas, Yao Wei looked at her hands, spacing out for a mont. She suddenly wanted to thoroughly research what having a child really entailed, running to open her laptop to watch so videos.

——For a long ti, while searching through that heap of videos for movies and TV shows to watch, she had inadvertently opened quite a few of that kind of video. Every ti she opened one, Lu Xi’an would give a warning in advance, shut it down, and move it into a dedicated folder.

Over ti, Yao Wei had even learned not to look at the formal content, just glancing at the opening style, she could already judge whether it was that type of video.

And now, opening one to watch was quite easy, just directly find the folder that Lu Xi’an had specially created.

She even seriously watched an entire video, making Lu Xi’an quite helpless, as his usual sage-like calmness was slowly disrupted...

"Is this what having a child is like?"

Having watched the video, Yao Wei closed the laptop and asked.

"Yes..."

Lu Xi’an answered in a muffled voice.

Yao Wei furrowed her brows in confusion, asking, "But why does having a child involve a feeling of losing control and inexplicably feeling comfortable and happy?"

"That should be governed by genes."

Lu Xi’an thought for a mont and said, "For all living things, perhaps there is only one purpose for existence in terms of genes — the transmission and continuation of genes.

"So it controls our survival and reproduction, causing pain when faced with threats and desire when encountering the opposite sex."

He entered his sage-like state again, placing his hands behind his head, seriously pondering, "Whether we are humans, animals, or plants, we are just carriers of genes.

"So for this world, could it be that what really matters is the genes we all carry?

"In that case, when the old world was destroyed, perhaps we should have perished, and surviving by altering our genes is an act of rebellion against the world?

"We might have already beco a virus or, quite feasibly, parasites to this world?"
