Chapter 60: The Encounter of Two Won Spells Disaster
Alex watched as the Wolf Gang’s stronghold gradually turned into charred ruins, then without further delay, he brought out the car.
After starting the car, he called for Olivia to get in.
“Olivia, our villa, where our shelter is located, is quite far from here. If you’re tired, you can rest in the car, and I’ll wake you up when we arrive.”
Olivia shook her head.
“Don’t worry, I’ve been dizzy all day, where could I possibly sleep? While you drive, I’ll keep you company and we can catch up on what you’ve been up to these past two years.”
Alex chuckled.
“All right, it’s been two years since we last saw each other, it’s ti to catch up. Buckle up, and let’s chat while we drive.”
Alex smoothly drove Olivia back. The two chatted and laughed as they headed towards the villa area.
It was Olivia’s first ti visiting Alex’s shelter.
The towering barrier walls outside didn’t surprise her.
Nor did the automated defense system make her feel intimidated.
It wasn’t until they entered the villa and she saw a woman with a deanor and appearance that rivaled hers, with her hair neatly tied up, casually walking out of the house to greet her and Alex, that Olivia was taken aback.
Approaching Mia, Alex hugged her and kissed her forehead before softly asking, “Did you miss ?”
Mia smiled and replied, “When have I not missed you?”
Alex burst into laughter.
Olivia followed behind, feeling sowhat awkward as she approached the two.
“Olivia, let introduce you. This is Mia, our team’s doctor, and also my girlfriend.”
“Mia, this is…”
Before Alex could introduce Olivia to Mia, Olivia interrupted.
Smiling, she reached out her hand to Mia and said, “Hello, I’m Olivia, Alex’s classmate. Nice to et you.”
They shook hands.
Mia also smiled and said, “Alex used to ntion you often. Indeed, very beautiful.”
“Whenever you have ti, tell more about Alex’s embarrassing monts from university. ”
“Sure, I know a thing or two about Alex’s embarrassing monts.”
As the two won chatted and laughed, they linked arms and walked into the villa together, leaving Alex standing alone in the courtyard.
Alex felt like he was dreaming.
Just monts ago, there had been a tense atmosphere when Olivia and Mia first t.
But in the blink of an eye, they were holding hands and leaving him outside the villa.
Alex’s expression was sowhat strange, but mostly he was just happy.
The fact that the two won could get along so well so quickly ant fewer troubles for him.
In the following days, with Olivia’s arrival, Mia dragged Alex along with the beddings to another room.
Alex was puzzled, but Mia simply said, “We have plenty of rooms at ho, so let’s stay separate.”
Alex felt quite aggrieved.
Usually, it was Mia who clung to him, sotis even waking him up in his sleep.
But now, with Olivia’s arrival, he was kicked out of the room.
Still, Alex complied.
He cleaned up a new room and settled in there.
In the days that followed, Alex didn’t go out to gather supplies but stayed at ho with the two won.
Waking up in the morning, eating breakfast made by Mia, and chatting with Olivia about past mories, it was quite pleasant.
“The tranquility of the mont was quickly shattered.
…
“Olivia, are you absolutely certain about what you just said?” Alex asked, his expression serious, finding it hard to believe Olivia’s terrifying words.
Olivia nodded, her voice solemn as she assured, “Absolutely certain, it will be a catastrophe of unprecedented proportions!”
On a cloudless night, with stars twinkling across the sky, Olivia, as she had done for several nights prior, brought out the telescope Alex had given her and savored the rare opportunity to observe the heavens.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t spot the blue star or the familiar galaxies. Tonight, however, presented the perfect conditions for stargazing, and Olivia, while observing, suddenly noticed an unusual trajectory.
She found it sowhat unbelievable.
Rubbing her eyes and peering through the telescope once more, she was horrified to realize it wasn’t a hallucination.
Clusters of teors trailed by brooms were hurtling towards a doomsday scenario.
If nothing went awry, they’d likely arrive next month.
Without hesitation, Olivia quickly woke up Alex and Mia, who had already fallen asleep, and inford them of this despair-inducing reality.
Alex, chin in hand, fell into deep thought.
“Olivia, are there many teors in this group? What level of destruction would occur if they hit the ground?”
After so consideration, Olivia responded without hesitation, “Destruction! Nothing but destruction! It would devastate the ecosystem, withering trees; it would scar the land with craters and pits.”
“Most importantly, for survivors, it would be a catastrophe.”
Alex tapped his fingers on the armrest of the sofa, murmuring, “The underground bunker blueprints we obtained before might co in handy.”
“However, acquiring the construction materials might prove challenging.”
An underground bunker.
Amidst a cataclysm like a teor shower, it could provide them with a safe haven.
Yet, this underground bunker required a type of special material never seen before.
S alloy.
Despite gathering so many supplies, Alex had never heard of it.
But to construct the underground bunker, S alloy was indispensable.
Alex felt a mixture of joy and concern.
Olivia, unaware of the materials needed for the underground bunker, remained excited.
“Alex, the underground bunker blueprints we obtained from the Wolf Gang will finally be useful! Once we’ve built the underground bunker and stocked up on enough supplies, we can easily weather this teor shower.”
Mia also looked at Alex with anticipation.
Alex shook his head, explaining with a wry smile, “If building this underground bunker were that easy, I wouldn’t be so troubled.”
“I’ll show you the blueprints so you can see what construction materials are required.”
As he spoke, Alex took out the underground bunker blueprints from his backpack and handed them to Mia and Olivia.
Both of them took the blueprints and furrowed their brows simultaneously.
“What is this S alloy? I’ve never heard of it…”
Alex shrugged helplessly.
“Yes, this special S alloy that we’ve never heard of, we have no idea what it looks like.”
Mia murmured, “It seems like we’ll have to desperately gather supplies during this ti, search for that S alloy, only then can we have a glimr of hope.”
Suddenly, Olivia suggested, “Why don’t we check the trading platform? Perhaps soone might have it listed there, you never know.”
