Chapter 48: Ergence of Mutant Creatures

The appearance of higher-level zombies and mutant creatures was becoming an established fact among all survivors, much to their dismay. Little did they expect this day to arrive so swiftly, catching them sowhat off guard.

Just recently, the sheriff’s team issued an announcent on the public chat channel.

User 12315: “Greetings, survivors. I am the sheriff. I am extrely excited and eager to share my joy with you all.”

“Our team just hunted down a mutant zombie boar. This marks the first ti survivors have hunted down a mutant creature, a montous occasion that deserves to be recorded in history. I believe it’s necessary to share this with everyone.”

User 352525: “Mutant creatures? Mutants have appeared so quickly? I can barely handle small zombie groups, let alone keep up with the evolving threat. This is madness!”

User 465435: “Damn, I think I encountered a mutant creature too… I an, is this still a dog? It’s almost the size of a cow! Mutant creatures are beyond belief. It noticed , but luckily I was in a high position and it couldn’t reach . Almost scared the piss out of .”

User 353436: “We’re screwed. Can’t even fight them, and supplies are running low. I’m preparing to dig my own grave and wait for death.”

Alex read the ssages with a serious expression. So far, he hadn’t encountered any mutant zombie creatures and didn’t know their exact combat capabilities. However, the fact that the sheriff’s team was able to hunt down the first mutant zombie creature indicated their considerable strength.

Rubbing his chin, Alex speculated that the sheriff would likely seize this opportunity to recruit more mbers. If things continued like this, a day would co when they would settle scores with him. He didn’t believe the sheriff was the type to peacefully coexist, especially considering Alex’s formidable strength. When the sheriff felt his power had reached a certain level, that would likely be when he’d co looking for trouble.

However, Alex was actually looking forward to that day. He wanted to see for himself what the sheriff was truly capable of.

The sheriff quickly sent another ssage to the chat channel.

Accompanying the ssage was a short video showing a massive zombie boar. The creature had a huge wound on its abdon, exposing bone, and was covered in nurous bullet wounds. If it weren’t for the fact that it was infected with the zombie virus and therefore inedible, this enormous boar could have provided at for several days.

User 436745: “Holy crap, is that boar bigger than an elephant?”

User 78567: “Is that even still a pig? I thought it was just a slightly larger mutant zombie boar, but this is ridiculous. It’s practically a different species now, isn’t it?”

User 457346: “Wow, the sheriff’s team is so strong, they even have guns. Impressive.”

The sheriff followed up with another ssage.

“Suvivors, what are you waiting for? Join the Police Station now!”

“Our formidable strength is evident for all to see. In this apocalyptic world, only by uniting can we have a chance at survival. I sincerely invite survivors and small groups who have not yet joined a team to join us!”

As Alex had anticipated, the sheriff was ramping up his recruitnt efforts at this crucial juncture.

Taking advantage of the shock brought by hunting down the first mutant zombie boar, showcasing the formidable strength of their team to attract survivors.

However, killing such a large mutant boar indeed provided them with the capital to advertise.

Alex remained silent, lurking in the chat channel and quietly observing the image of the mutant zombie boar.

He imdiately recognized the long wound on its abdon as the result of the Critical Strike Samurai Sword.

The fact that the sheriff possessed Critical Strike Samurai Swords didn’t surprise him. After all, with ten swords listed on the trading platform, it was impossible for the sheriff’s team not to afford them.

He even suspected that the sheriff’s team had purchased more than one.

What concerned Alex more were the bullet wounds on the mutant boar’s body. Although he had vaguely guessed that the sheriff might have firearms, it was still sowhat daunting to have his speculation confird.

After all, the difference between having firearms and only having cold weapons was incomparable.

However, Alex breathed a sigh of relief shortly after.

Fortunately, ammunition on the trading platform was scarce, and with the sheriff’s team inevitably consuming it, they wouldn’t be able to replicate Alex’s unlimited firepower with a P92 pistol.

Moreover, Alex still had his ace in the hole: invisibility.

Furthermore, if the sheriff did possess firepower strong enough to warrant Alex avoiding direct confrontation, he could resort to his assassination skills.

Of course, all these scenarios were contingent upon the sheriff taking a hardline approach against Alex soday.

Only then would Alex spare no effort to use all ans to protect himself.

In the chat channel, many survivors had already made up their minds to join the sheriff’s team.

Previously, the propaganda was just enticing them with food and drink. But many people didn’t care much about that.

So even felt that being in a small team had its advantages, offering more freedom.

However, after seeing the mutant zombie boar, many began to question whether they truly had the capability to survive amidst the ever-increasing tide of zombies.

Number 356547: “Our team discussed it and we’re planning to join the sheriff or another big team. Otherwise, we won’t survive. With zombies getting stronger and mutated creatures appearing, we need to plan ahead.”

Number 867896: “It’s not so bad really. Big teams offer security. I’m planning to take my teammates to join the sheriff at the Police Station. I’ll see what my teammates think and then we’ll set off.”

Number 457543: “Although small teams can gather resources, you’ll get more if you join a big team. Unless you’re a survivor of the highest level like 10086, it’s better to join a big team honestly.”

Number 958333: “In this apocalyptic world, don’t dream big. Just surviving is the greatest luck…”

While the Police Station led by the sheriff publicly killed the first mutated zombie creature, attracting many survivors to join, it also cast a shadow over the survivors’ hearts.

Will the Police Station be able to withstand more mutated creatures and higher-level zombies in the future?

Who knows? Nobody knows! If they end up dead in the end, what were they brought to this zombie world for?

But Alex doesn’t think like that.

He has Mia by his side.

Although he doesn’t know how long he’ll survive, he might get killed by a high-level zombie tomorrow, or he might live until the end. But he doesn’t want to be pessimistic.

He wants to survive with Mia.
