Chapter 342: Take refuge
As the temperature continued to drop and cold-resistant supplies beca increasingly scarce, cases of people freezing to death had even begun to occur.
At that ti, the entire alliance was gripped with fear.
It was then that they discovered Alex’s Dawn City not far from their location.
The three leaders discussed among themselves and decided to seek refuge in Dawn City.
“People say Alex is a ruthless tyrant, a heartless murderer who often slaughters entire families at the slightest provocation. Do you think he will accept us?” soone in the group voiced their concern.
Their journey had been fraught with difficulties.
Due to the cold and attacks by snow beasts, at least three hundred people had died during the five-day trek.
If Alex did not accept them, they would be truly desperate.
“No, he won’t turn us away. Don’t worry. Although Alex is fearso, he is known to keep his promises. People who know him say that he is more reliable than most,” another reassured them.
“Exactly, and Alex announced on the public channel that everyone is welco to Dawn City. He surely won’t reject us!”
The group chattered, trying to reassure themselves.
As they spoke, they could already see the grand city looming in the distance.
A powerful aura emanated from the city, striking awe into their hearts.
For a mont, it felt like they were facing an ancient beast rather than a re city.
“Oh my god, is that Dawn City?”
“I don’t know why, but it feels like this is not just a city, but a sleeping giant beast. When it awakens, it will bring apocalyptic destruction to the world.”
“It’s so magnificent, so imposing! I’ve seen pictures and videos of other cities before, but they pale in comparison to this one!”
“Of course! Look who owns this city! The number one in the global combat power rankings! The strongest of all!”
The newly arrived survivors couldn’t help but marvel.
At the sa ti, Alex received the information.
“They’re from Sky Alliance? Their leader is nad Juan?” Alex inquired.
Nathan nodded. “Yes, they are just a small alliance with no significant reputation. Juan, their leader, is the strongest among them, but even he doesn’t qualify to build a city. That’s why they ca to seek our help.”
“They have about fifteen thousand people, far more than us on Dawn. Their numbers could greatly aid our developnt.”
“But…”
Nathan hesitated.
Alex motioned for him to continue.
“Speak your mind, don’t hold back.”
Nathan nodded, relieved. “Alex, I have so concerns.”
“With Sky Alliance’s numbers far exceeding our own, nearly three to four tis, if we let them in, will Dawn City still be ours, or will it beco theirs?”
Nathan’s concern was valid.
This was a realistic problem.
If all of Sky Alliance entered Dawn City, they would inevitably occupy most of the resources and have a greater say.
If they ca from different forces, it might be manageable.
But they all ca from Sky Alliance.
Sky Alliance’s original leaders and controllers held significant influence.
This could be detrintal to Dawn City’s developnt.
Alex thought for a mont, searching for a solution.
Finally, he said, “Let them in first. Don’t worry about anything else. With here, they won’t dare act out. Even if they plot sothing, I can crush them imdiately with a show of force!”
“However, we should impose so restrictions.”
“Let’s split all the Sky Alliance people up and have our people manage them. As for their original leaders and controllers, treat them equally!”
Nathan nodded in agreent.
“Alright!”
Quickly, under Nathan’s arrangent, Dawn City’s soldiers organized all the Sky Alliance survivors into units.
Each unit consisted of a hundred people.
In total, there were 147 units.
Each unit had a manager, chosen from the well-performing survivors of Dawn.
Nathan announced loudly, “Dawn City is willing to help all survivors who co here! However, for better managent, we will split you up and manage you separately.”
“We hope everyone cooperates.”
“Each hundred people will have a manager, and you must follow their orders unconditionally!”
“Additionally, you must check in daily and report your situation!”
Upon hearing Nathan’s words, murmurs of discontent rose from the crowd.
Many were visibly upset and voiced their concerns.
It was clear that this move was intended to monitor their every action and restrict their freedom to so extent.
Particularly, being managed by Dawn City’s original mbers made them uncomfortable.
However, they had no choice.
Under the circumstances, they had to bow their heads and comply, regardless of their dissatisfaction.
anwhile, Nathan spoke again, “The forr leaders, chiefs, and captains of Sky Alliance will be treated the sa as everyone else!”
This announcent caused an uproar.
“Silence! Everyone, be quiet!” Nathan’s voice bood.
Instantly, the crowd fell silent.
The reputation of Alex, known for his ruthless and unpredictable nature, lood large.
Being in Alex’s territory, faced with his subordinates, everyone was on edge.
Any provocation could potentially lead to imdiate death.
At this mont, the forr leader of Sky Alliance, Juan, stepped forward:
“It is my greatest honor to be able to co to Dawn City and receive Alex’s protection. I have no objections to this arrangent!”
With their leader setting the tone, no one else dared to voice any dissent.
Shortly after, soone led the entire group into Dawn City, showing them to their prepared accommodations.
As Nathan left, he gave Juan a long, hard look.
Soon after, Nathan reported the situation to Alex.
After hearing the news, Alex rely let out a cold snort.
“This Juan is even smarter than I thought. But smart people are also more dangerous. You must keep a close watch on him. Inform imdiately of any suspicious activity!”
“Understood!”
…
Since the arrival of Sky Alliance, Dawn City had beco livelier.
The significant increase in population had all the factories in Dawn City operating at full capacity.
Previously, many weapons, equipnt, and ammunition had to be obtained through supply crates.
Now, so of these needs could be t internally.
Although Alex had access to unlimited supplies, his stock of certain weapons and equipnt was finite.
The operational factories could fulfill most of the demands.
Moreover, Alex selected a thousand people from the original Sky Alliance mbers to form a new city guard.
Combined with the existing five hundred soldiers and five hundred combat robots, Dawn City now had a force of over two thousand warriors.
To improve the soldiers’ quality, Alex tasked Jose with training the new recruits.
With a vast training ground in Dawn City, accommodating up to ten thousand people for training was not an issue.
The sounds of training filled the air from dawn till dusk.
In addition to training, to enhance their combat abilities, Alex periodically arranged for groups to venture into the snowy wilderness to battle snow beasts.
