Ji Wanwan had no way to avoid it, so she could only slam the steering wheel to try to veer the car's front away from the impact as much as possible.

"Bang!"

A deafening crash rang out, and Ji Wanwan was blacked out by the deployed airbag.

"Woof! Woof!!"

Buzzing noises filled her ears, the puppy's barking sounding near and far.

Ji Wanwan shook her dizzy head, and her vision gradually cleared.

Her tily avoidance ant the puppy was safe, and she herself was only jolted by the airbag with no serious harm.

The violent impact quickly attracted zombies.

The car was now undrivable, and Ji Wanwan, recovering, grabbed the puppy with one hand and seized the Military Shovel with the other before jumping out of the car.

"Roar! Roar roar roar!!!"

The zombies had already arrived, and Ji Wanwan, after getting out of the car, lifted the Military Shovel and struck.

"Snap!"

The sturdy Military Shovel instantly sliced off half of a zombie's head, causing it to slump to the ground. Ji Wanwan kicked the zombie away, pulled out the shovel, and ran.

In the car nearby, a young man watched Ji Wanwan incredulously.

"Holy shit, how dare you kill soone?"

Ji Wanwan glanced at the man in the car, her expression indifferent.

The zombie's face was smashed in, was she supposed to wait around to beco human buffet?

Stupid idiot!

She diverted her gaze and continued to flee, simultaneously searching for another vehicle to escape in.

She hadn't gone far when the zombies' snarling and the man's screams followed from behind.

Great, your human buffet has been delivered, please check for it~

Ji Wanwan did not look back, but ran into an alley beside the road.

From a distance, she saw that the alley didn't have many people, and after running through several turns inside the alley, she had shaken off most of the pursuing zombies.

After dealing with a few zombies that caught up, Ji Wanwan finally had a mont to catch her breath.

Running all this way, her throat parched and her calves began to weaken.

Ji Wanwan set the puppy aside and took two pieces of bread from her backpack, tearing open the packaging and stuffing them into her mouth.

While she was eating, Ji Wanwan's phone suddenly rang.

At this ti, who would make a call?

Ji Wanwan took out her phone and glanced at the caller ID.

Qi Hao?

Seeing this na, old mories surfaced in her mind.

Ji Wanwan was pretty, and naturally she did not lack admirers, among which Qi Hao was the most conspicuous one.

The reason was none other than his ostentatious mop of bright purple hair, which was too eye-catching.

Everyone thought, with Qi Hao's flamboyant personality, he must be a playboy who couldn't stand loneliness. But in reality, Qi Hao was remarkably loyal and long-lasting in his affections.

He had liked Ji Wanwan since they were young, which was almost common knowledge.

He even studied hard for the sake of attending Nan University with Ji Wanwan.

But unfortunately, Ji Wanwan always saw Qi Hao as a brother and didn't harbor romantic feelings toward him.

Ji Wanwan rembered that Qi Hao had died early in the apocalypse in his previous life, dying while helping her grab supplies.

She had always kept this favor in her heart.

With mixed feelings, Ji Wanwan lifted the phone to her ear, "Hello?"

As she spoke, she continued to scan her surroundings, vigilant against any zombies that might appear.

On the other end of the phone, Qi Hao's breathing was a bit unsteady, his voice also sowhat noisy, "Wanwan, where are you? Are you safe? I bought a villa in the suburbs a few years ago. Shall I take you there to take refuge?"

Qi Hao's parents had died early in an accident, leaving him with a large inheritance and accident compensation. Now the only family mber Qi Hao had left was his grandmother.

Ji Wanwan bit into her bread, "What about your grandma?"

Qi Hao paused, "She's in my car!"

It seed that after the zombie outbreak, Qi Hao had taken his grandmother and fled.

In his previous life, Qi Hao had laid down his life for her. In this life, at such a ti, Ji Wanwan found it unsurprising that Qi Hao was the first to think of her, yet it still made her nose tingle with emotion, nearly bringing tears to her eyes!

But under the apocalypse, how could a little villa protect the safety of ordinary people?

Ji Wanwan planned to take Qi Hao to a refuge.

Partly because he was truly sincere towards her—she felt he deserved to survive—and partly because his heart was with her, qualifying him as one of her own, soone who could beco her assistant at the refuge.

She bit her lip, "Where are you right now?"

Qi Hao glanced out of the car window, "I guess near Ronghua Garden."

Ji Wanwan reported her own location, "I'm at 19 Dazhi Road, the Steel Plant District here."

Receiving a response from the girl he cherished, Qi Hao's spirits were lifted. Imdiately, he fired up the voice control and opened the car map, "I will need about 13 minutes to get there, wait for !"

After hanging up, Ji Wanwan stuffed the last bite of bread into her mouth.

At this mont, a zombie turned the corner from the end of the alley.

The zombie staggered a few steps and then turned its head towards Ji Wanwan...

...

"Roar!!"

After killing two more zombies that ca running, Qi Hao arrived.

He perford a stylish drift, stopping the car at the entrance of the alley, and rolled down the window, frantically waving at Ji Wanwan.

Seeing the vibrant purple Porsche, Ji Wanwan once again revised her impression of Qi Hao.

But now was not the ti to appreciate the car's sexy, sleek curves because Qi Hao's hoarse shouts made her both laugh and cry.

"Get in the car! Quick, get in! There's a whole horde of monsters following behind! If you don't get in now, it'll be too late!!!"

Ji Wanwan sprinted a hundred ters with the little puppy in her arms and got into the car before the army of zombies could catch up.

"Boom!"

The car door wasn't even properly shut when Qi Hao stomped on the accelerator and sped away.

Ji Wanwan cracked a smile.

No wonder so many zombies were following the car; the arrogant roar of the engine had her blood pumping, let alone the zombies?

Lest Qi Hao drove to the villa, Ji Wanwan shut the door and said, "Qi Hao, drive to the abandoned resort on the outskirts."

"Ah?" Qi Hao, confused, asked, "Why go there?"

Unable to explain the matter of the refuge, Ji Wanwan dodged the question, "My family is there."

Qi Hao fell silent for a mont before he finally responded in a low voice, "Okay."

Ji Wanwan's eyelashes trembled, "Thank you."

Qi Hao laughed heartily, "Don't be formal with ."

Ji Wanwan curved her lips and said no more.

That mont of silence from Qi Hao probably indicated hesitation.

In the chaos all around, with zombies everywhere eating people, Qi Hao, who had no blood relation or obligation to her, hesitating or refusing would have been normal.

Ji Wanwan hadn't expected that Qi Hao would agree so readily.

This "thank you" wasn't perfunctory; it ca from the heart.

Yet under the apocalypse, such verbal thanks were truly negligible—bringing Qi Hao and his grandmother to the refuge was the repaynt she could offer within her power.

It must be said, although Qi Hao's car was very flashy, his driving skills were also impressively stylish.

On the chaotic streets, his vibrant purple Porsche was like a bolt of lightning, weaving through the flow of cars and people.

Soon, they arrived outside Ji Wanwan's refuge.

Seeing the familiar gates of the refuge, Ji Wanwan's eyes turned red, feeling a sense of surviving a catastrophe.

She looked behind the car.

The zombies attracted by the car engine were quickly approaching.

Ji Wanwan opened the door imdiately and, holding the puppy, jumped out of the car, "Qi Hao, Grandma, quickly get out and follow !"

"Ah?" Qi Hao glanced at the rear-view mirror, his face turning pale, "This? ? This? Ah?"
