Chapter 258: Goldfish Base

After they’d tied the ropes around themselves, they descended.

As they went down, Su Yinhe and Chi Yan were stable, but Lin Murong swayed as if he were about to swing on a swing set.

It would have been fine if he just swayed, but damn it, he scread too.

His screams sounded like a shrieking chicken.

No, that’s not right.

The shrieking chicken actually sounded better than his screams.

“Shut up, stop yelling; you won’t fall. What are you so scared of, big guy? Trust , you won’t fall. This is professional equipnt, very safe,” unless we all die crashing down.

“What if I do fall?” Lin Murong wasn’t afraid of heights; he was just purely scared.

He trembled non-stop, his legs were shaking, his hands were shaking, his whole body was shaking.

Then, naturally, he began to sway.

It was like he really was on a swing set.

But this was way more thrilling than swinging on a swing.

Ahhh!

Lin Murong scread again.

Su Yinhe couldn’t stand it anymore, so she swayed over to him like Murong on a swing, grabbed him, and smacked his head twice.

“Shut up. Scream again and I’ll finish you off,” Su Yinhe said, pulling out a small knife with one hand.

She was steady. Falling didn’t scare her.

After all, with the protective chanism given by the system, she couldn’t be killed even if she jumped directly out of a plane; she was now harder to kill than a cockroach.

Her vitality was even stronger than a cockroach’s.

“I’m scared,” Lin Murong said as he clung to Su Yinhe.

He was already swaying, but holding onto Su Yinhe, they both started to sway together.

Su Yinhe: “…Let go.”

“I won’t, I’m scared,” Lin Murong not only didn’t let go but held on even tighter.

Su Yinhe: “Believe it or not I’ll slap you.”

“Even if you slap , I won’t let go,” Lin Murong clung on even tighter, almost glomming onto her entirely.

“Okay, okay, okay, Chi Yan, co here too,” Su Yinhe had no choice but to call for Chi Yan.

Chi Yan had been wanting to co over anyway, and upon hearing Su Yinhe’s call, he imdiately swung over.

He was one who wasn’t scared at all.

Out of the three of them, it was just Lin Murong who was scared.

The other two were utterly fearless.

Lin Murong had been putting on a brave face just a mont ago, but the mont he saw Chi Yan, he was so frightened that he imdiately let go.

Now, only Chi Yan could handle him.

Although the process was full of bumps and stumbles, at least they successfully made it down in the end.

It was only after reaching the cave that they realized how huge and deep it was.

Pitch-black too.

“I have a feeling that the base is definitely inside here.” This was a strange choice for a location; God knows how they found such a big, deep cave.

“Holy shit! Finally made it down; if we hadn’t gone when we did, I would have really fallen.” His hands were shaking so much he couldn’t move them anymore, feeling like his whole being was spent.

Lin Murong, upon entering the cave, didn’t care if the ground was dirty or not and just lay down to rest.

Panting heavily.

He wasn’t Chi Yan with a cleanliness fetish.

He had to be as comfortable as he could get.

“Is it really that exhausting?” Su Yinhe squatted down and asked him.

“Tired, physically tired, emotionally tired, ntally tired,” Lin Murong nodded, his hair stirring up so dust.

“Ah?! You actually have a brain?” Su Yinhe asked in mock surprise, covering her mouth.

Lin Murong: “??? What? What did you say? Do I look like soone without a brain?” Lin Murong lay on the ground, pointing to his head, gasping for air as he stared straight at Su Yinhe.

Su Yinhe nodded without a hint of hesitation.

Lin Murong: “Alright, heartbroken.”

He made a heart shape with his hands, then mimicked it breaking apart.

“A big guy like you shouldn’t be so fragile, you know. It’s bad enough that you go ‘whine, whine, whine,’ and now you’re telling your heart is fragile too? What are you going to do later in life?” Su Yinhe asked with feigned concern.

“Chilled salad. You’ve turned into a chilled salad,” Lin Murong said as he flipped himself over.

“Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey, damn, it’s all dirt.” Lin Murong flipped back again, then stuck out his tongue and wiped his face.

Another cloud of dust rose up.

“There’s just so much dirt on this ground. Are you sure there’s a base inside this pitch-black cave?” The part of the cave they were currently in wasn’t dark; there was a bit of light, but further inside was pitch-black.

A pitch-black expanse.

Lin Murong didn’t want to go in.

“There should be. And, by the way, isn’t it natural for there to be a lot of dirt on the ground?” Su Yinhe looked at him as if he were a simpleton.

Strange, she still felt a touch of pity for him now.

“What you’re saying… actually makes so sense,” Lin Murong hesitated.

Having rested enough, he got up.

Another cloud of dust lifted.

He had been lying on the ground for a while, and now he was completely grimy.

Covered in dust.

“Stay away from us. Go scout ahead.” Chi Yan took a step back and then tossed Lin Murong a flashlight, signaling for him to move forward.

Lin Murong: “Are you disgusted by , huh? Tell , if it was Yinhe rolling on the ground today, would you be disgusted by her? Would you?”

Chi Yan couldn’t be bothered to answer such a pointless question.

Su Yinhe would never roll on the ground like him, obviously.

“Co on, say it. Say it in front of Yinhe,” Lin Murong insisted on getting an answer.

“Stop talking and start scouting or my fists might start itching again,” Su Yinhe really felt like grabbing him by the collar and beating him up at this point.

“I’m trying to gauge how much love he has for you, and you’re ungrateful?” Lin Murong didn’t understand.

“Still talking? Go ahead.”

“Hmph.” Lin Murong turned on the flashlight and went to scout ahead.

He took the lead, with Su Yinhe in the middle, and Chi Yan following behind.

This cave was really massive, deep, and dark.

Walking in this cave was also very quiet, save for their three sets of footsteps and breathing—no other sounds were audible.

“Yinhe, I’m getting a bit scared. What if a ghost suddenly appears…”

“Shut it, don’t talk nonsense,” Su Yinhe felt like hitting him again.

Lin Murong, a Superpower User who had killed so many Zombies, was afraid of ghosts?

Hmph.

“I have to. It’s too quiet. Without talking, I start to fear that you are not even you,” said Lin Murong as the goosebumps rose on his arms.

“Don’t let your imagination run wild.”

“I can’t control myself.”

“Control it or I’m going to beat you up.”

“I’ll try.” Lin Murong’s voice was turning weak.

Fortunately, just when he truly felt he couldn’t control himself any longer, they finally found Goldfish Base.

They had walked for a very, very long ti to find it.

Inside the cave, there was a long corridor, followed by several branching paths.

Lin Murong picked one at random to follow.

Then as he walked, he discovered an even larger cave.

And in this cave, there were people living!

This must be the center, surrounded by all these little paths.

All the paths led here.

Lin Murong hid in one of the smaller paths, not venturing out.

The center had a fire going, casting a dim light. They stayed in their path, a little distance away, out of sight.
